Following the stairs downward, the two quickly arrived at an underground chamber.
In the dim space, a stone coffin was seen in the distance.
"What is this?"
Looking at the silhouette inside the stone coffin, Sauron's complexion slightly changed. It turned out to be Oren, the long-missing lord of Night Raven City, as rumored outside.
"Is father dead?" Sauron exclaimed.
"Not really."
Frost shook his head and whispered, "He is just temporarily in a deep sleep, unable to wake up."
Sauron relaxed.
However, he frowned again, saying solemnly, "Why would father be like this? Isn't he a high-level Knight?"
Frost shook his head and moved towards the stone coffin.
Sauron followed, and as he looked inside the coffin, he saw a man of robust build, clad in pure black armor, lying peacefully in the coffin.
His face was calm, as if in a deep slumber.
In Oren's chest, a black ancient book lay quietly, with an ash-gray skull on the cover, emitting a somewhat ominous aura.
"This is the reason your father fell into a deep sleep!"
Frost's expression became grave as he picked up the black ancient book.
About half a year ago, someone salvaged this book from Moonlight Lake.
Later, a merchant bought it and presented it to Oren.
At first, Oren didn't pay much attention to it.
But later, for some unknown reason, he began to treasure this book, carrying it with him at all times and not allowing anyone to touch it.
After some time, I noticed that Oren was acting strangely. Just as I was about to warn him, I found that he had fallen into a deep sleep.
After that, I tried many methods, but none could awaken Oren.
Helplessly, I could only search for clues in this book, only to discover that it couldn't be opened at all.
Frost sighed.
"Couldn't be opened? What does that mean?" Sauron slightly frowned.
"It means exactly what it says."
Frost shook his head and helplessly said, "Even a Knight renowned for strength couldn't open this black ancient book, no matter how hard they tried."
"As for methods like burning with fire or soaking in water, they are equally ineffective!"
After listening to Frost's account, Sauron's face showed a hint of contemplation.
It seemed that the long-missing Night Raven lord had been in Night Raven City all along, and Frost, concerned for Oren's safety, had placed him in the underground chamber.
"A book that can't be opened?"
Sauron's eyes flickered as he picked up the black ancient book.
Frost hesitated for a moment but did not stop him. Although this black ancient book was the cause of Oren's deep sleep, it wouldn't lead to immediate harm upon touching.
Ever since Oren fell into slumber, Frost had researched it for a long time.
But no matter what method he used, he couldn't open it. This seemingly ordinary black leather book seemed to be sealed by invisible restraints.
Sauron scrutinized the black ancient book in his hand.
On the cover was a skull that looked vivid, and the whole book was not light. Holding it in his hand gave a chilling sensation.
He attempted to flip through the pages, but even with all his strength, he couldn't do it.
"Is that so?"
Sauron's heart sank. This black leather book was indeed mysterious. He then looked at Frost and asked, "Have you found any clues after researching your father's matter for so long?"
Frost's face showed a hint of helplessness. He shook his head, pondered, and then said, "No specific clues, but based on my speculation, this book is likely related to the legendary wizards!"
"Wizards?" Sauron's eyes flashed.
"Yes, wizards!"
Frost slightly nodded and contemplated, "In ancient records, wizards are a group that controls extraordinary powers."
"They can manipulate flames, control corpses, and even call the wind and summon the rain!"
"Powerful wizards, even Great Knights find it difficult to contend with them. With a wave of their hand, they can annihilate a city!"
Hearing Frost's narrative, a sense of excitement surged in Sauron's heart.
"Are there really wizards?"
Sauron's eyes lit up. According to the memories of the original owner, he had heard many legends about wizards when he was young. However, those stories had a mythical tone to them.
No one knew if wizards truly existed!
Staring at the black ancient book in his hand, Sauron felt a burst of heat in his heart. If wizards really existed, this black leather book might be the key for him to transcend.
"Of course, this is just my speculation."
At this moment, Frost spoke again, sighing, "Since I became a scholar, sixty years have passed."
"In my youth, I also fantasized about the existence of wizards."
"However, during my thirties, I almost traveled across the entire Taal Duchy, but I found no traces of wizards."
"Not even a tiny bit."
"Therefore, I am not sure if those stories about wizards are true."
In this world, stories about wizards were like legends.
Countless people had embarked on a journey to find wizards, but after several decades, they had nothing. Even Frost had dreamed of becoming a wizard when he was young.
But after a fruitless search, Frost returned to reality.
"You don't need to worry too much about your father."
Frost, leaning on his cane, came to Sauron's side and comforted, "With his physique as a high-level Knight, even if he sleeps for several years, there won't be any mortal danger."
"Now, the most urgent task is to stabilize the situation in Night Raven City!"
"The wolves from the Western Border won't show mercy just because you are young. If you can't deter them, Night Raven City will never have peace!"
Sauron nodded and said, "I understand, Frost Grandfather."
Then, the two turned and left the underground chamber.
After parting ways with Frost, Sauron returned to his room, locked the door, and began studying the black leather book.
"Could it require some incantation?"
Sauron looked at the black book on the table and muttered, "Or maybe a ceremony? Blood recognition of the Master, perhaps?"
Just as Sauron was contemplating, the moonlight outside the window cast down, shining on the cover of the black book. In the skull on the cover, a faint green light seemed to ignite.
"What's this?"
Sauron's heart jumped, noticing the change in the black book.
He subconsciously wanted to step back, but at that moment, the skull on the cover opened and closed, emitting a low and suppressed voice.
"Young man with the dark innate talent, the doors to the Necromancer Faction are open to you!"
As the voice fell, the black book slowly opened, revealing the bizarre and motley contents inside to Sauron.
