Third person POV
Kuro remembered his past life now. It was the year 788, in what is now modern-day Osaka city, at that very Sumiyoshi Taisha, some various yokai started attacking the place as some villagers were praying. They saw them, so some of them, including some Mikos, tried their best to fend them off. But some of those yokai are quite strong, and the humans are now struggling to hold their ground. The place is like a battlefield now at that hour. But then, someone came with a huge scythe of unknown origins, asking, "What is going on here?"
Some of the villagers then looked at him.
That someone is none other than Kuro, or at that time and life, Kuro Takayama, who was dressed in his attire, which was traditional Japanese clothing in black and red.
"Sir!" cried one of the villagers. "Please help us!"
"Those yokai are going to kill us!" another begged him for help.
And so, Kuro accepted their urgent and desperate request and stepped into battle with his personal scythe. The place of battle is in an open field within the shrine compound. The yokai then looked at him, who was staring at them with his grey eyes.
"You will all pay for attacking such a sacred place like this," he sternly said to them as he readied his weapon against them. "Prepare to die."
In response, some of the supernatural creatures begin to make fun of him for being a lone warrior.
"Ha! Try it, human!"
"Come and get us!"
And then, just as expected, Kuro held his weapon tightly and firmly and lunged at them.
The yokai then retaliated in response, but they were overpowered by him and his powerful weapon.
Some try to hit him or even, lay a finger on him, but those who do that get stabbed and slashed by the blade of Kuro's scythe.
Another tried to extend its hand towards him to attack, but it had its extended arm cut off by him.
The villagers, including some soldiers within the jurisdiction, are watching the battle in awe.
Some even admired Kuro's skills as a fighter.
And so, when noon came, Kuro had finished the invading yokai off and sent them off back to the underworld as punishment for their actions.
After that, everyone applauded his victory.
"Thank you!"
"Thanks for saving us!"
"We loved you!"
But then, with his cold attitude, he looked at them. "Thank you…you're welcome. See you…"
He then held his weapon and left the place.
"Wait!" one of the humans, the village chieftain. "Do you want anything from us? We'll give you anything."
"There's nothing you can give me," replied Kuro as he stopped walking and looked at the Torii gate, "I am fine and content."
"Are you sure about that?" a woman asked back with concern. "You can stay in our village for a while. You might be exhausted from that fight."
The others nodded in persuasion.
"Yes, I am fine," Kuro responded back, "I'll go somewhere else instead."
He then resumed walking away, and he was never to be seen again.
Because of that, the village was stunned at his attitude of being content. Eventually, they honored him even though they never seen him again after that day. And that was, in history, called the First Battle of Kuro Takayama.
[Back at the present]
Kuro was calm at remembering that time, which was 5 years before his death. But still, he didn't want to tell that to Hoshi or anyone else, and the modern-day shrine was a reminder of his past life.
