Sitting across from Alexander with him being nothing but sweet confused me.
We were in private now, he didn't have to put up an act.
Could it be that he was wary of cameras and of people suddenly walking in on us?
Or was it possibly a show for his friend Carlton?
A hundred questions raced through my mind as I tried to figure out what his motives were.
My heart fluttered when he looked at me proudly when I told Carlton I knew exactly who he was.
Alexander didn't need to tell me where we were having dinner. I knew there were very few places he would willingly put on a show for the press, and Carlton's restaurant was the forerunner in the list of places I thought he would consider.
As a man dealing in weapons and transportation, Carlton's restaurant was one of the most secure in the city. It's security, supplied by none other than my husband.
Carlton was also a famous figure.
