After what seemed to be an eternity, Kaia opened her eyes. The first person she saw was Cole who held her hands tightly, worry reflected in his eyes.
She darted her eyes and she was able to see her mom who was seated on the other side of the ward. It was then she noticed there were two beds in the ward.
Her mom had a face filled with guilt as she looked at her.
"You scared me," Cole's scared voice sounded which jolted her out of her thoughts. She calmly retrieved her gaze from her mom who felt worse immediately.
"I'm sorry for scaring you," she apologized.
"Do I need to call the doctor?" Cole was prepared to call the doctor.
"No, there's no need, I feel okay, I think it was because of the shock I fainted," she replied with a weak smile.
"Kaia, don't blame mom, you have no idea what she must have faced in the past few years, you must give her a listening ear," Cole was able to see the bigger picture.
