Chapter 15 - Chapter 15: Agreement

He was aware that what he was about to do wasn't right but it was the only way he could let her stay with him.

"Meaning?" Kaia perked up her ears immediately he mentioned her mom getting well.

"I said I have the capacity to make your mom whole again, like I said previously, my doctors are attending to her and I believe they can cure her, so what is your answer? Do you want her whole or not?" Cole continued to bait her as he stared deeply at her.

"Yes, I want my mom to be whole again, I don't want to see her on that bed anymore, but there's a catch isn't it?" Kaia was smart enough to understand that this came with a condition.

"You are right, there's a catch to it," Cole said to her as he folded his arms.

"Shoot," Kaia said though she had an inkling to what he was going to ask of her.

"Be my wife," he said simply.

Kaia raised her head to look at him l. As expected, this was what he asked. Now, she was actually concerned as to why he wanted her to remain his wife. There was something he wasn't saying and it won't be easy to get it out of him.

"As expected," Kaia muttered but to his hearing and he smiled. She was still as smart as she was in those years.

"So, what will be your answer?" Cole asked though he was aware he was close to victory already.

"I think you know the answer already which is why you used my mom, you know I love my mom so much, therefore I will accept," Kaia stared at him and Cole didn't know if he was imagining it but he was able to see a disappointed look in her eyes.

He didn't know why he felt bad. Probably, because he knew what he was doing was bad but he could not help it. He didn't want to lose her anymore.

Letting her go was akin to him killing himself. She was his life. Only he knew how he was able to cope in the past few years without her.

He yearned a lot for and his wait was over. Now, he wasn't going to use his own hands to push her away. He won't make the same mistake he made the last time.

He can't even make the mistake because he has the capacity to protect her unlike the last time.

'I'm sorry that I have to use your mom but it's the only way I can make you stay back,' Cole apologized in his mind but outwardly, he stared straight into her eyes waiting for her to say the word..

"Fine, I accept, I will give anything just for my mom to be whole again," she accepted while Cole beamed. He was truly happy..

He might have known what her answer would be but hearing it from her was amazing and it was truly a wonderful feeling.

"Are you happy now?" Kaia asked as she noticed he couldn't stop smiling.

"Yes I am, do not worry, once you know the reason as to why I want you by my side, you will also be happy but for now, let me stay happy because you have accepted me," he replied and she nodded, although she still felt confused.

"I will ask the maids to bring your food and also, you will have to sign the wedding contract since there wasn't a ceremony," Cole said excitedly and she nodded, seemingly uninterested.

"Wait a minute, the name on the contract will be Madison, I can't sign it," Kaia was still looking go ways to stall the marriage.

"You need not worry, I had already known what Madison was planning and when we figured out that it was you, we played along with her, do you think you both can fool me and I won't have an idea?" Cole asked and he felt pleased with himself internally.

"So you have known?" Kaia asked with a new knowledge of what had happened.

"Yes," he replied simply.

"Then why didn't you stop her?" She questioned though she had an idea to how he would respond but she needed his confirmation.

"Because it was you," he replied while staring at her with concealed love and affection.

"If it were any other person I would have stopped it immediately but it was you, why will I stop it when it's you?" Cole said and this time, he could not hide what he felt for her.

"You!" Kaia could not say anything and weirdly enough, a blush crept up her cheeks due to his words. It was strangely soothing and comforting.

"Alright, enough playing around, I will ask the maids to bring your food up to you," Cole said.

"I'm not hungry," Kaia said adamantly but her stomach chose to betray her at that very moment as it chose to rumble at that particular point in time.

She gave a very nervous smile as she stared at him only to see him trying to hold back his laughter.

"It seems even your stomach is crying out for food and here you are saying you aren't hungry," Cole teased her and she blushed out of embarrassment.

"You can't blame it, it hasn't had a good meal for a while now," Kaia said while she rubbed her stomach with a melancholic smile.

"But you are here with me now, you won't starve while I'm around," he promised and she nodded, howbeit embarrassedly.

"I will go now," he said, sensing that she was embarrassed.

Once he was gone, Kaia began to muse to herself.

'Maybe this isn't so bad after all,' she said as she looked around taking in her environment.

'Probably I knew him before which is why he is so adamant on letting me go, he might even be the breakthrough to my questions, he might also be connected with my memory which I do not seem to recall,' Kaia thought to herself.

While Kaia was deep in thoughts, Cole came in with some maids trailing behind him.

"Kaia," he called and she snapped out of her thoughts.

"Uhn," she answered absentmindedly.

"You guys can drop it," he ordered and the maids set the meal in an organized way.

"You may leave," he ordered and they left without looking back.

"Come on," Cole beckoned to her and she smiled before getting down from the bed.
