Levi had never experienced a parent's love before but he imagined it would be something like this. He found himself wanting to do more for them, to impress them and make them happy.
It was the strangest feeling, something he'd never experienced. Catering for people was something he did to survive a cruel world where he was at the bottom of the food chain but he wasn't at the bottom here yet...
Though this didn't extend to anyone else, he hadn't met anyone from the village only seen them from afar but he could tell from the distance, he would just end up killing most of them.
And since today was tax day, he intended to leave for the glades but Scarlet was too attached to him and she didn't want to let him out of her sight.
That particular morning they woke up early with the two still battered and sore from the previous night. Levi and Scarlet were seated at the kitchen table, books out. Scarlet was five but she was a scary teacher.
