Chapter 29 - Chapter 28 - Home Sweet Home 2

A/N: Some of you might think that the story was getting dull. But for me, this is necessary to complete our MC's background. Well, I feel what you feel so I'm gonna speed things up a bit. Just hang tight my friends. Things are going to get interesting soon. As for the system, he won't get it anytime soon. I don't want him to rely too much to it and I'll tell right now that he really have a shitty system. Haha. It wasn't like any other system from usual reincarnation novel but a result of a merged accident and circumstance. In my opinion, it would be interesting to give him this kind difficulty so we can every bit of his journey. He have a powerful mind anyway. He can do a lot using it, right? That's all I have to say. Thanks for stayin and continuing to read this nonesense of a novel. Let's get the ball rollin' shall we?

Next day,

Faust woke up early since his schedule was packed the whole day. He ate his breakfast with his Mom and Dad before letting them know that he's going to visit the orphanage. It's been a while since his last visit so he gotta check on Mother Matilda if she needed anything.

As for Angel, he wasn't exactly sure where she is but according to his guess, she's probably at the company reporting and training once again until they go back to Virginia.

For today, he was accompanied by Sebastian and George.

When they arrived at the orphanage, he saw the kids outside the courtyard running around playing while Mother Matilda watches over them.

Faust ran towards her and he gave her a big hug. He was careful not to squeeze tightly since he knows how fragile the old lady is.

"Nana! Missed me? Hehehe you look younger now, what did you do?"

"Ooof, you brat. Are your trying to squeeze me to death?"

"I just missed you, Nana. Hehehe"

Mother Matilda shook hear head and said, "You're still the same, mischievous as always. How are you? Are your parents with you?"

"Nah, I'm alone this time with Uncle Seb. I'm good, Nana. Look at me, I'm handsome as always."

"Haha silly child. Have you eaten your breakfast? There's still a porridge at the kitchen."

"Oh I would love to taste your porridge again. Maybe that's the secret recipe why I grew up handsome and why you are getting younger."

"You still got a sweet mouth, eh I see..How about your studies?"

"Hmm.. Well, they are quite... easy?"

"You should tone down your arrogance, Faust. It won't do you any good."

"I'm just stating facts, Nana. I'm going to graduate high school soon. I will apply for college maybe next year."

"That fast? You're working so hard making me proud. I'm sure you'll do big things in the future."

"Of course, who do you think took care of me when I was young? Hehehehe."

"Enough of your sweet words. You never cease taking chances to tease this old lady. But it's heartwarming to see that you still didn't forget about us despite already having a family."

"Sigh, Nana. Of course I won't forget about you and this orphanage. If you didn't picked me up on that door before, I would probably be frozen to death and rotting six feet under by now."

Mother couldn't help but cry, touched by hearing him say that. "You're going to make me cry."

"Don't cry, Nana. We should be happy, okay? If someone were to see you like this, they might think I'm bullying you."

"Well they weren't wrong. Aren't you always bullying me?"

"Well that's uhmmm different.. I'm just teasing you with love hahaha."

Mother Matilda just smiled and leaned her head on his shoulder.

Faust took a deep breath while watching the kids, "Come to think of it, it's so calming to watch the children play in their own world. It makes my mind peaceful like magic."

"I remember the time when you discovered my secret passage through the woods. Hahaha, you chased me with a stick. That was hilarious. Is that passage still there?"

Mother Matilda nodded and said, "I can't afford to tear it down. It held so much memory when you were young. Speaking of which, there's something that I would like to show you but I suddenly forgot. Ahhh my age might be weighing up on me."

"Don't worry about it. By the way, I brought supplies again. I hope it'll last for a while. I'll donate some money later to help you with the maintenance of the facilities. They are quite old. You must accept it or else I'll get angry."

"Okay, you already left me no room to decline."

"That's good, let's go to kitchen. I really missed your porridge."

--

After eating porridge, Faust went to help with the chores in the orphanage. He was already used to it since it's what they always do when he was still living here. It was part of discipline that was taught in this place.

Afternoon came and it's time for the children to go and play once gain, he noticed a 7 year old kid playing with a skateboard practicing his moves. He was playing alone and he was quite proficient at it.

This caught Faust's interest so he approached the boy.

"Hey kid, what's your name?"

"Jacob"

"Jacob, my name is Faust. I was an orphan like you before. See that tree? That's where I used to hang out."

"What do you want?"

"Straight forward huh, well, you see I'm quite interested in what you're playing. It looks cool. Care to teach me?"

"You think so?"

"Yeah, how are you doing that flipping thing."

"Okay, I'll teach you but you must pay me 5 bucks."

Faust twitched his lips while glaring at the kid.

"Come on, Mr. Busybody, since you dare to disturb me, you'll have to pay for it."

Faust was tempted to smack the kid's head but he held it in and paid the money he was asking.

"You will be a good gan--err business man in the future. Now, move your ass and teach me."

--

After spending some time in the orphanage, he said his goodbye to Mother Matilda. She made him some sandwiches for takeaway.

Then they went towards the company to visit his old lab. Outside the building, he looked up at the company logo at the top to appreciate the view for a few moments before going in.

Inside the company at the metal gate area, Sebastian passed him his old ID card so he can have an access.

They weave through a bunch of corridors before they stopped at the big laboratory with a vaulted door. There was a sign at the front saying 'Keep out, Authorized Personnel only'.

Faust reached out his access card for a scan and when it turned green, the door opened automatically.

After they went inside, Faust scanned the surroundings and saw his the laboratory tools that was left untouched. He also found the deactivated blade he got from the kree.

"Uncle Seb, I need to get these tools packed and this blade as well. I'm going to bring them to Virginia. Oh! Those utility robots as well."

"Of course, young master."

Then Faust approach a hi-tech computer and inserted his personal USB drive to install ALICE. He then backed up all the data he had researched in his previous years from the time he obtained the kree technology.

"Uncle Seb, I have this blueprint in my hand and I wanted to create this device while I'm here. Can you take care of the the parts indicated on it so I can start right away? I intend to finish it before we leave for school so I'll be coming in this lab in these coming days."

Sebastian accepted the blueprint and was surprised to see an eyeglass type of blueprint with parts and electronics attached to it. He even saw on the list 12 high definition mini camera which baffled him but he accepted it nonetheless.

"Then you'll just have to keep your access card so you can go in and out of this lab freely, young master."

"Okay. I'll keep it then."

--

The sun was already starting to disappear when Faust and Sebastian came home.

Suddenly, he remembered something and turned to Sebastian to ask.

"Unlce Seb, is there a skate park in the city?"

"As far as I know, there is one. Are you interested in that sport, young master?"

"Yeah, I find it quite fascinating. Can we go there in one of these days?"

"Certainly, but this was supposed to be your little vacation. You will end up in tight schedule with these activities lined up."

"Hmmm.. I can handle it...I think? Sigh, I have a lot of stuff that needs to be done. You know I'm not one to waste time getting idle. Anyway, please buy me a skateboard and don't tell mom, okay? I don't want to freak her out."

Sebastian nodded and left him alone in his room. He was quite bored once again and decided to go to his father's study to pass time.

--

At night at the dinner table, the Valentine Family was enjoying their meal.

Then Faust suddenly asked, "Dad, do we have a larger house near my school?"

"I think we have, why?"

"Since I'm going to start college soon and I'll be pursuing medical biology, I'm gonna need to have my own laboratory. I think the estate was too small to fit such facility so.." Faust explained trying to convince John.

"Then ask Sebastian to prepare our mansion there. You're going to need a proper lab so we need to install some equipments beforehand." John didn't too much about and he trusted his son so he agreed.

Sebastian, ever attentive acknowledge Faust request, "I'll arrange it right away, sir."

"Thanks, Dad."

Next Morning,

Faust was jogging around the villa as part of his morning routine. He had already skipped yesterday so he can't afford to miss it now. It will just ruin his rythm.

He was accompanied by George who happily run beside him which made his morning jog a lot more fun.

When he was done, he went to a nearby tree to rest. He lean on it and saw a leaf falling from the tree. He suddenly remembered one of his favorite anime, KNOCK OUT, where the protagonist, Ippo Makunochi trains by catching falling leaves.

As soon as the idea formed in his head, he immediately tried it out.

He shook the tree and tried to imitate Ippo Makunochi with great concentration. He smiled at the thought that it works.

In his first try, a lot of leaves touched the floor so he wasn't satisfied.

For his second try, he was able to catch 30 percent of the falling leaves.

'Damn, why does it look easy in the anime? Anyway, atleast it's possible."

Then he tried again for the third try with his Overdrive active.

In his eyes, leaves fell down in slow motion but the problem is his body can't keep up with his eyes.

'Sigh, well isn't this why I practice? I gotta stop complaining to myself.'

When he deactivated his Overdrive, he couldn't control himself and stumbled down from exhaustion.

'If only this ability doesn't affect the body, like Angel, that would be awesome. But I don't wanna be a mutant so that's a no.'

"Are you alright, young master?"

"Yeah I'm fine, I'm just a little exhausted. Ooff-"

He was startled because George suddenly licked his face with concern and he couldn't do anything about it because he was so tired.

"Stop it, I'm okay.. See? Let me rest a bit."

George whimpered while looking at him to check if he was really alright but he eventually stopped and lay down beside him as he rest.

A few hours later, Faust was ready to go to the skate park. Sebastian already bought him a brand new skateboard which is in the trunk of the car. He didn't carry it because he was afraid getting caught by his mother, scolding him on how dangerous it was or how he could be hurt when go out of balance.

They sneakily drove out of the villa and went towards the Skate Park in the city.

When they arrived, Faust was awed to see so many teenagers there practicing their skateboard tricks. A lot of them fell down but they keep going at it as if they didn't feel anything when they trip over.

He couldn't help but admire their dedication to their craft.

He took a deep breath ready to engage the challenge before him.
