Along the way, they continued their conversation. And the topic steered to where she came from and how she got here. Of course he knew all the details of her story. In fact, way more than her but he decided to play along the course of events to avoid suspicions. He needs to stay low-key for now.
"So basically, you're saying you are from the outer space?"
"Yeah, that's how I got here in C-53?Does that concern you?"
"No, not at all. What's with that C-53? It sounds like a size of a woman's bra. You should call it 'Earth'. That's what we call our planet."
"Earth, huh. Sounds catchy."
"It is. You look human though. So...what can you do? Do you have a space saucer or something?"
She pointed her hand on the sign board of Rosamund as they pass by and blasted it off.
"Whoa, that's pretty cool."
He can't deny seeing how it works in person makes it more cooler than seeing it in the big screen so he was genuinely in awe.
She just smirked on his reaction and continue her driving.
After a few minutes, they finally arrived at Pancho's Bar.
"Here, that one on the left." Faust pointed out.
She swerved to the left and pulled over to the parking lot outside the bar.
She jumped off the bike and gestured to him, "C'mon let's go inside."
Faust hesitated slightly but eventually followed her. Vers looks around, remembering the flashes of memory from the Skrull interrogation of her and Maria inside the bar. She saw some visions where her old self playing an arcade game, drinking with Maria and singing karaoke.
Then she walks over to a wall covered in pictures of Air Force fighter jets, before fixating on one with the Pegasus logo on the tail.
While Vers is looking at the photos, the bartender walks past her. Faust looked around before heading to the arcade game. He inserted a coin in the coin slot and started to play.
Vers just looked at him for a second and then she return her focus on the picture.
Then the Bartender asked, "What can I get ya? By the way we don't serve minors."
Then he gestured to Faust.
"Oh don't mind him, he's just here to accompany me. Where was this photograph taken?" Pointed her chin towards the photo.
"At an airport?", he answered but sounded unsure.
"Where's Pegasus?" She asked once again.
Then a voice interrupts their conversation.
"That's classified! Not unlike the file I started on you."
A black man wearing a brown jacket enterednd went inside the counter. Then he looked at the bartender with a signal.
The bartender then walks away confused.
Fury looked over at Vers again and said, "But I see you changed it up a bit since then. Grunge is a good look for you."
Then he glanced briefly at Faust who was playing on the arcade and asked curiously, "Who's the kid?"
"Don't mind me! You can talk all you want. Just playing here quietl--Die!!! You son of a bitch haha, you cost me so many coins you evil piece of pixel." Faust shouted in response while he kept looking at the screen as he smash the buttons furiously.
Vers just shrugged and said,"He's my tour guide. He offered some help to get me here so here we are. Did you have a rough day Agent Fury?"
Fury ignored Faust and walk slowly, "It's cool. You know, space invasion, big car chase, got to watch an alien autopsy. Typical 9 to 5"
"So you saw one?" Vers was surprised.
"You know, I was never one to believe in aliens...but I can't unsee that. Does the kid know?" Fury inquired.
"Yeah, I told him everything. Anyway, this is gonna get awkward but I gotta ask." She said cautiously.
Fury appeared offended and asked, "You think I'm one of those green things?"
"Can't be too careful." She squinted her eyes looking at him.
Fury replied helplessly, "You are looking at 100 percent red-blooded Earthman."
Vers countered, "I'm afraid I'm gonna need proof."
"We talking cheek swab or urine sample?"
"No. The DNA would match." She replied candidly.
Fury suggested, "Well, how bout my AOL password?"
Vers declined and said, "Skrulls can only assume recent memories of their host bodies."
Fury chuckled and said, "Oh oh! You wanna get personal."
--
Fury and Vers both took a seat, and they look at each other like someone had owed them.
Vers was the first to ask.
"Where were you born?"
"Huntsville, Alabama. But technically I don't remember that part." Fury answered quickly.
"Name of your first pet?"
Fury answered, "Mr. Snuffers."
Vers verified amusingly, "Mr. Snuffers?"
Fury confirmed, "That's what I said. Did I pass?"
"Not yet. First job?"
"Soldier, straight out of high school. Got the ranks of full breed Colonel."
Vers gestured for him to continue, "And then?"
"A Spy"
"Where?" She asked as she became interested.
Fury proudly said, "It was the Cold War, we were everywhere. Uh... Belfast, Bucharest, Belgrade, Budapest."
"How bout now?"
"Been riding a desk for the past few years, trying to figure out where our future enemies are coming from. Never occurred to me that they'd be coming from above." Fury said while pointing to the sky.
Vers continued his interrogation, "Name a detail so bizarre a Skrull could never fabricate it."
Fury thought for a moment then said, "If toast is cut diagonally, I can't eat it. You didn't need that did you?"
Vers chuckled, "No. No, I didn't. But I enjoyed it."
While they are talking, Faust who had enough playing the arcade, was slowly making his way to the Jukebox. He patted his pocket to check more coins.
"Ok. Your turn. Prove you're not a Skrull" Fury said as he took his turn to question her.
Vers didn't answer and calmly blasts energy out of her fists towards a jukebox on the opposite side of the room before resting her head back on her fist.
Then they heard someone complained.
"Hey....Come on, Vers! I was just about to put a coin on it."
"Sorry!", she embarrassly smiled.
It was Faust looking exasperated, standing a few inches away from the blast.
Fury continues to look towards the jukebox, both concerned and confused
Then he return his attention towards Vers, "And how is that supposed to prove to me that your not a Skrull?"
Vers answered confidently as if it explains everything, "It's a photon blast."
Fury was still confused, "And...?"
Vers explained, "A Skrull can't do that."
Fury then turned to Faust, "How about you, Kid? Uh...what's your name by the way?"
"Faust, just a random rich kid. Nice to meet you Fury."
Faust waved his hand but when he looked at them, they are staring daggers at him. He in scratch his head in frustration.
Then he walk towards the Juke box and scratched his index finger against the pointed shrapnels of the Jukebox making it bleed. "Aw!"
He wiggles his finger in front of them to see.
Both Vers and Fury stared at him confused.
"What? Duh, do they bleed red? No they don't. Hmmm..now you're definitely messing with me. You're doing it on purpose do you?" He asked suspiciously.
Vers and Fury looked at each other then they both laugh so hard.
After a while, Vers said, "Skrulls rarely mimic kids. Even if they do, it'll take time for them to adjust and they'll be exposed quickly."
"Dammit, you got me there." He cursed.
Then Vers went back to the topic and asked Fury, "So...a full-bred colonel turned spy turned SHIELD agent must have pretty high-security clearance. Where's Pegasus?"..
