The desolate graveyard stretched before us, its eerie silence amplifying the weight of our conversation. As Rina San spoke, her words hung in the air like a shroud of mystery, each syllable laden with secrets waiting to be unraveled.
"What does this mean?" I asked, trying to make sense of the situation. My name... it's engraved on the urn... does... does this mean what I think it is?
"A man who lost both his son and wife at the same time happened to wander to a faraway place because he couldn't bear it," she began, her voice carrying a somber undertone. "He ended up finding an injured child, took him to the hospital, and claimed to be his father."
My gaze shifted from the urn to Rina San, disbelief etched into my features. "What are you trying to say?"
"That's the gist of your story," she replied, her eyes betraying a hint of sorrow.
"But Why bring me here?" I questioned, my frustration bubbling to the surface. "Couldn't you have told me all this back at the hospital?"
As I kicked the pebbles out of the way, standing there, trying to make sense of the situation, Rina San's lips curved into a rueful smile.
"That's right, that would have been fine too," she acknowledged, her voice carrying a solemn tone, "but there's something you need to see here."
"Are you referring to this urn I received from you with my name engraved on it?" I gestured towards the object, my unease evident.
Rina San nodded solemnly. "The truth is, what your father told you is not a lie," she confessed, her voice barely above a whisper. "Though his real son died with his mother."
"I see..." I muttered, kicking at the ground again. Dust billowed into the air, mirroring the turmoil in my mind.
"So, at the same time her wife and his son died, that old man who adopted me did some trick and said that I was his son, and all this time, I've been carrying his name?" I clarified, trying to make sense of the situation.
"I'm really glad you're catching on fast," Rina San remarked, a hint of relief in her voice. "That means I don't have to explain much."
As I grappled with the weight of this newfound truth, Rina San's words cut through the silence like a knife. "There's something else you need to know," she continued, her tone grave.
"I really don't like getting in the way, but there's something I haven't told you. This whole situation seems to be more serious than I had first thought. You were kidnapped, and then Kira almost got killed." Her eyeglasses glowed for a moment, reflecting the sunlight, as she looked down at the grave. "I can't just stand still after finding out what's going on."
As she spoke, I mulled over it. So there's really something about this whole situation. I pondered for a while, and I'm pretty sure I don't have money to be kidnapped for some ransom. Kira's family is rich, but they didn't even bother with their money and instead asked for me. Just what the hell did I get embroiled in this kind of situation?
A few moments passed in silence before Rina San finally spoke again, her gaze fixed on the graveyard before us. "But... how does she know it?"
Before I could voice my thoughts, she reached into her pocket and retrieved a worn envelope. "When I investigated your father, I found this," she explained, her expression unreadable. "His will."
"Envelope? What's this?" I asked, my curiosity piqued.
"Open it," Rina San replied softly.
As I read the note, a whirlwind of emotions swept through me—confusion, gratitude, and a realization that what I had believed before was not entirely true. With trembling hands, I closed the envelope, grappling with this new understanding.
Rina San's eyes softened as she observed my reaction, her expression a mix of sympathy and concern.
Lost in my thoughts, I sighed heavily, feeling the soothing breeze against my skin as the contents of the note echoed in my mind.
"What is going to happen to me now?" I finally voiced my concerns, turning to Rina San for answers.
She patted my head gently and smiled, offering reassurance. "Don't worry about it for now."
NOTE:
["As I walked onto the woods in a desserted mountain that one rarely come I honestly intentionally planned to die there, but my planned was ruined when 2 cars suddenly stopped me from my attempt to jump on the hills, one car chasing one another, I saw everything, when the one car ahead bump into something, a child and a man in his company suite get off from the car, but they we're not able to flee as the other car swiftly turned and blocked them. A man in black suite fired a gun without Batting an eye, the man fell down but he didn't stop and brutally shot his whole body, I couldn't remember much but I heard a 7 gunshot, As the child tried to wake his father, he was kicked brutally by the man and soon also lost his consciousness.
But the man didn't stopped there, he placed the man in the car and the child, As if they died in a car accident, he get in his car and shot the engine, and left.
The car was about to explode but I didn't know that I was brave enough to get near it, a car that's about to explode any minute and I'm there, why? I thought dying there was also an option, but As I peek through the window, the man who's shot and have his blood flowing stared at me with his pitiful eyes and laid his last sight on the child, I couldn't ignored it, as I felt that he wanted me to save the child, thankfully the door was not locked and I managed to get the boy, and got away from the car before it exploded.
I ran and ran and get onto my bike and made a run to the hospital, and manage to save miraculously the boy and that boy now is named Matsuki Satoro, he was named after my soon to be son as I learned that his memory was gone due to surgical procedure the doctor had to made.
For Matsuki Satoro"]
As I finished contemplating on what I just read, I was overwhelmed by the sudden information she had just given me. Not knowing what to do, I just sat down on the tombstone.
"What are you thinking?" She asked.
"Nothing," I replied, staring at his name embedded on the stone, "just how thankful I am that someone like me was found by him despite me not being his real son... He looked out for me... I might have been already dead if it weren't for him."
"That's because of some fateful consequences.."
"A father who lost both his wife and son in a car accident, happened to find you and save you and took care of you, how unfortunate for him to die."
"Yeah, how unfortunate.. I wonder what he would do if he were in this kind of situation..."
Another silence filled the place.
"...so," I began, standing up, "where is that son of his? I mean the real Matsuki Satoro."
".....Based on our investigation, his wife was only eight months pregnant at the time of the accident," Rina San explained.
"Is that so.. does this pot of ashes is made for him?"
"Yeah."
With a solemn gesture, I placed the urn between the two tombstones, feeling the cool marble under my fingertips, a stark reminder of the weight of loss.
"I hope the three of them are happy on the other side," I mumbled to myself as I turned around.
"Let's go," I said, quickening my pace toward her car. "You mentioned we need to go somewhere else, right?"
"Where exactly are we headed?" I asked as we exited the graveyard.
***
"Hahaha..."
"What's the matter? Why are you laughing?" Rina San asked, trying to start the engine.
"It's just so ridiculous... A ridiculous story for someone like me."
"I get it, it's not easy to believe, but... are you okay?"
"I'm fine," I said, though it doesn't really feel like it.
"You must be prepared. Someone is after your life, and your real father's death was not an accident."
Even if that's the case, doesn't that mean my days are numbered if I don't take care of the one who wanted to kill me?
"..."
"Rina San usual confidence seemed tempered by an unspoken tension. As we drove, the silence between us grew heavier, filled only by the steady hum of the car engine. I couldn't shake the feeling of dread that gnawed at my insides, wondering what awaited us at our destination.
"So where are we going?" I finally broke the silence, my voice betraying my apprehension. As we drove on, the tension in the air seemed to thicken, making my question hang heavier in the air.
"To your mother," Rina San replied, her tone clipped, as if she too was grappling with uncertainty.
"My mother? I know that Kirya said my mom is alive, but this fast?" I couldn't help but voice my doubts, the knot in my stomach tightening with each passing mile.
"We can't just ignore this," Rina San said, her eyes fixed on the road ahead.
"But are you sure she'll believe me that I'm her son? And that someone is after me?" I asked, my voice filled with uncertainty. "And even if she does, will she be willing to help? It's not as simple as saying 'please save this pathetic me, I'm your son and all will be well?'"
Rina San remained silent, her gaze fixed on the road ahead, leaving me to ponder the uncertainty of our upcoming encounter with my mother.
I glanced out the window, realizing she wouldn't respond further, and as we neared our destination, the tension in the air grew palpable, suffocating me with each passing moment. I couldn't help but wonder what awaited me at my mother's doorstep and whether she would be the savior I desperately hoped for, or just another obstacle in my path.
