Marcus looked over to Kinsley, his expression was semi-serious yet he had a smile. "It's Felix, he's calling about work, can I go?" He asked.
Kinsley nodded. "Yeah, I don't mind."
"Thanks," Marcus replied, standing up from his seat with a groan he began making his way out of the lecture hall.
Stepping into the hallway Marcus sighed. "Alright, start talking, I'll answer what I can." He said, walking down the hallway past the various other lecture halls, eventually finding an empty lecture hall.
"Alright, how do they operate?" Felix asked.
Marcus sighed, "Well they're secretive, they use people known as Mayflowers as contacts between them and others. I don't know what they do exactly, but I know they have money and a lot of resources."
"How big are their operations?"
"Massive, worldwide from what the doctor told me," Marcus answered. "Though, they mostly operate in Asia and Africa."
"I see, do you know of any people within their group?"
"A man named Paul, who is a mayflower, a woman named CJ, who is an operative of sorts, and there's Marisa who works with Paul."
"Do you know anything about EI bullets?"
"Yeah from what I know, that's what was used to kill Lieutenant Lance." Marcus answered, "I've never been shot with one personally, but I have been hit with an EI grenade."
"What happened?"
"It stopped me from healing fast and burned like hell. The shards were a pain to get out, and it made using ether harder." Marcus then took a deep breath. "But on the bright side, once the shards were pulled out, I was fine."
Felix chuckled. "So I'm assuming if the bullets pass through me without hitting anything vital, I'll be fine?"
"Most likely, just avoid getting hit in your core, or the head, otherwise you'd die almost instantly, or have severe brain damage."
Felix laughed, "I guess that's something not even ether could heal, anyway, that's all the information I needed, I'll call back if I learn anything on my end."
Marcus nodded. "Cool and yeah, anything you learn would be great to know."
"You got it, bro." Felix replied before hanging up the call."
Marcus sighed, pausing for a moment as he looked down at his phone. It felt to him that even when he escaped work, it still found a way to find him.
His expression became dejected.
Just then, he felt two small, delicate hands slipping under his shirt and navigating towards his chest.
"Who…" Marcus looked back and down, to see Kira hugging him from the back. His eyes widened as his mouth fell open. "Kira?" He whispered in disbelief.
"Hi, Marcus." She replied with a smile, looking up at him. "Why didn't Kinsley pick me up from my room today?"
Marcus raised an eyebrow. "I don't know, how did you find me?"
Kira smirked, "You're hard to miss Marcus, I saw you walking down the hallway and followed you."
Marcus sighed as he turned around in Kira's grasp. "Ok, well I need to get back to Kinsley, so I'll see you later." He placed a hand on Kira's shoulder and gently attempted to push her aside.
Kira giggled, bringing her hands back towards Marcus' chest. "What's with the rush?" She asked playfully, "There's still twenty minutes left in class."
Marcus nodded. "I get that, but I still want to be with Kinsley and Luna."
Kira smiled as she lowered one of her hands into Marcus' pants. Her thumb pulled at the waistband.
"Don't you want to be with me too?" She asked.
Marcus felt his heart pounding, he knew it was wrong, this entire situation. However, his resolve to step away from it was slipping by the second. He found himself almost drawn into her words like a fly trapped in honey.
"No, I don't want anything to do with you," Marcus answered. "You're a bad girl, and what you're doing is wrong." He said sternly, yet Kira seemed to have a spark grow in her eye.
"I'm bad?" She asked softly, slipping her hand further into his pants, "Can you discipline me?" She asked, grabbing at his now rock-solid friend. "With this?" She asked, tracing her finger down its shaft.
Marcus felt his breath grow ragged as his brain went blank. He struggled with every ounce of his being to resist. "What is the point of this, do you even like me?" Marcus asked.
"Mhmm," Kira replied. "I like everything about you Marcus, from your head to your toes, and everything in between." She said with a smile, slowly moving her hand back and forth as she gently held his penis.
Marcus tightly gripped Kira's shoulders to stop himself from moaning, however, that only caused her to do it in response. "That's a little rough." She said with a soft giggle.
Marcus knew that the last of his resolve was gone, though he tried, he was about to lose the game.
So in a final attempt to put some points on the board, and maybe escape this blowout, he decided to throw a hail merry.
"I'm gay." He said with the most serious expression possible.
Kira passed for a minute, studying Marcus with narrowed eyes. "Is that so?" She asked curiously.
Marcus nodded.
Kira smirked. "Is that why you're dating Kinsley?" She asked because she's an athlete. She's tall, toned, and manlier than most?"
Marcus paused for a moment.
"Marcus I want you to tell me something, and be truthful," Kira said as she pulled her hand from Marcus's pants. "Why do you like Kinsley?"
Marcus smiled, "Well that's obvious, I…" his mind went blank.
Why did he like Kinsley?
"Well she's nice and she like me," Marcus answered.
"I'm nice and I like you, Marcus," Kira replied.
Marcus frowned, attempting to think of something else. "Well, she… she uhm, she cares about me."
"I care about you Marcus."
Marcus fell silent.
"The truth of that matter is that you don't like her Marcus, you only tolerate her because she's the first girl you've ever had," Kira explained. "Kinsley is possessive and extremely territorial, something you have grown accustomed to."
Marcus remained silent, his mind churning to find thoughts on a rebuttal.
But there was nothing.
"I'm only giving you the chance to choose Marcus, to pick something you really want."
Marcus looked Kira in the eye.
He studied her for a moment, her small frame, large breasts, and hourglass waist. She was a cute woman. In every sense of the word.
He thought back to Kinsley, she was beautiful, truly a girl anyone would be happy with.
But….
Marcus didn't know that for sure.
"…" Marcus was at a loss for words.
"Marcus?" Kira called his name worriedly, growing closer to him as she reached a hand for his cheek.
Without warning, Marcus moved to kiss her. He placed his hand on the back of her head. His fingers gently lost themselves in her soft silky hair.
Kira quickly wrapped her arms around Marcus' neck, standing on her toes to kiss him better.
As he kissed her, his mind began wandering, racing to understand the sudden change in the situation. He didn't know why he had done it, but it felt good.
He loved how Kira sucked and played with his tongue, he loved how tightly she gripped him, and he loved feeling her small frame in his arms.
It all felt so… wonderful.
Like an explosion of thoughts and emotions, everything just burst forth, the sensation in his body was overwhelming, and eventually, he came in his pants.
His eyes widened as he slowly realized what had happened. He quickly pushed Kira away as he took a step back. Reaching for his crotch, he noticed a growing stain on his sweatpants. "S-shit." Marcus stammered.
He quickly tried to clean the mess, sticking his hands in his pants to wipe up the cum from the inside, but it was no use, there was too much.
"That was… amazing," Kira said in between breaths, licking her lips as she eyed Marcus with affection and amazement in her eyes.
Marcus was still reeling from the suddenness of the moment. "Why did you do that?!" He asked angrily, pulling his sticky hand from his pants, and quickly wrapping it in his shirt. "Kinsley is my girlfriend." He added. His voice trembling with uncertainty, "I… I don't, this was a mistake, you're a mistake, fuck!"
Kira looked genuinely hurt by his harsh words, her eyes faltering slightly. "A mistake, but you kissed me." She replied defensively, her voice still soft. "That's not fair at all, I cannot help how I feel, just as I cannot control your actions."
Marcus narrowed his eyes. "You're… you know what you did." He said with a point. "Just leave me alone, stay away from me, stay the hell away from me!"
Marcus then hurriedly sidestepped towards the door, his mind a mix of confusion, excitement, and fear.
Kira watched as Marcus ran out of the lecture hall, a perplexed expression on her face. She then turned her attention to where Marcus previously stood, she noticed he had dropped his phone, which was still unlocked.
With a raised eyebrow, she picked it up and began looking through it. She first scrolled through his contacts, seeing only a few numbers saved.
There was his mother, sister, Felix, Dr. Fletcher, and Kinsley.
"Hmm, he really is lonely." She softly commented to herself, a sympathetic expression befalling her face.
She then went into his messages.
The first she came across were the ones he shared with Felix.

FELIX
Felix: yeah I remember when I found out bro,
I was mad for a while, but I think it's better if my family thinks I'm dead.
Marcus: yeah but, I wish they would've told me beforehand, now I'm motherless, and the only thing I got for compensation was a week off.
Felix: it's better than nothing bro because when I found out, Lieutenant Revia made me exercise the pain away, lol.
Marcus: you're a terrible therapist.
Felix: yeah, but you should really enjoy your break, take this time to mull things over, and maybe make some love to Kinsley.
Marcus: I hate you, so, so much.
Felix: I love you too bro.

Kira raised an eyebrow at the boys' shared messages
"Motherless?" She whispered to herself, "Is that a strange joke? I wonder…"
She then navigated to Marcus's messages with his mother.

MOTHER.
Marcus: I miss you and I'm sorry I never got to say goodbye.

Kira's eyes widened. She attempted to scroll down but to no avail.
This was the first and last message had ever texted his mother.
Kira covered her mouth. "That… that cannot be right."
She quickly navigated to the messages he shared with his sister.

SIS
Marcus: I know we haven't gotten along with each other much in recent years, but I just wanted to say goodbye, even if you can't see it.
(The following number has been restricted.)

Kira slowly shook her head. "This cannot be right, he never mentioned anything about losing his family." She whispered to herself, walking towards the closest seat.
She then quickly navigated to his messages with Dr. Fletcher.

DR. FLETCHER
Dr. Fletcher: enjoy your vacation, Marcus.
Marcus: stop pretending like you care, and leave me the hell alone.
Dr. Fletcher: but I told you, I do care for you Marcus, so, so much.
Marcus: as a damn weapon, you see me as nothing but a fucking pawn. First, you ship me off to fight some monster without warning, then tell me my family believes me to be dead right after?
Dr. Fletcher: Marcus that only happened because you asked about them at the wrong time.
Marcus: wrong time?!? Kael is dead because of you, and you wanna talk about the wrong time?!
Dr. Fletcher: so much hatred boils inside you, I hope you find your peace in Kinsley, you deserve it.
Marcus: go fuck yourself, you self-righteous, cold-blooded bitch. You could die for all I fucking care.
Dr. Fletcher: oh Marcus…

Kira couldn't believe her eyes. As she read through Marcus's messages a pang of guilt struck her. She had been under the impression that Marcus was just playing up his loner hero vibe for the show. She hadn't realized that he was dealing with some much, that he was hiding not just what he did, but how it affected him.
"I'm so sorry…." She whispered to herself as tears began welling in her eyes. Marcus had lost his family and Kael dealt with anomalies on the regular, seeing and experiencing things most people probably wouldn't survive
And here she was putting him in a vulnerable position. Her mind raced as tears fell down her cheeks. She placed Marcus' phone in her lap and covered her face with her hands.
"I'm terrible." She whispered to herself, her voice trembling with emotions, "I'm such a horrible person."
