"let's start from the beginning, shall we?" Dr Juliet started the lecture calmly.
"the abyss! what is it? we have thousands of answers. But the truth is we have no ******* idea, but it's been there for as long as this planet has existed, and whatever we know of it comes from factions like the world order and the void library. For starters, what we know is that the abyss is a concept and a record of the world laws that govern this world." She continued in a soft tone.
"then there's the dark energy that we also have no idea about! this mysterious form of energy that is emitted from the traces of the abyss and recorded when we observe metahumans and seedlings in action. there's a lot about this mysterious form of energy that we don't know about, but it's part of our daily life whether we like it or not" She used her blue seed to summon her lances to illustrate her point.
"and it's part of our culture and our history. the most common example is the abyss factions, which are group of factions with each one having their own beliefs and customs on the knowledge and control of the abyss and they also govern the actions of the seedlings under their control. for example we have the power lancers/blue seeds under the knights of power, the world saints/red seeds under the world order, the void readers/purple seeds under the void library, the seedless/white seeds under no specific faction and there's more. then there's another completely different faction known as the metahumans under the royal family. the point is there's a lot of these abyss factions" she went on explaining about the various factions.
"why are there so many factions and what makes them different, professor?" a diligent looking student stood up and raised a question.
"I'm glad to see i don't have Moai stone statues for students, but to answer your question, it has to do with how different people viewed the dark energy! some people saw it as an evolution and welcomed it, other saw it as a curse and despised it, some used it to grow more powerful others wanted wealth, some wanted to study it and others feared it. there's all sorts of reason behind the creation of each and every faction." she answered the question posed by the student in a thought provoking manner.
"earlier the people with different gifts and blessing of the abyss were highly isolated from each other, then they decided to put aside the differences and form the factions that we know today. hmmm, look at the time, I've yapped for long enough." she finished her lecture and assigned assignments to the student before exiting the hall.
a little while later
Dr. Juliet who finished her lecture went back to her study, along with her guests, Cage Hamilton and his daughter Noir. Juliet was happy seeing Noir and was playing around with her as Cage was observing from the back. Then Noir was happily playing in the park inside the campus, when Juliet and Cage were discussing about something serious.
"Soo, have you thought about retirement, old man!" she asked him in a worried tone.
"yea, I think I'll dump everything on you" he replied nonchalantly.
"hmm. that's good. ... wait what?" she was taken aback by the response.
"yeah!, I've led the knights of power for long enough now, i just wanna relax, and you have a knack for leadership, you were better at it even before I took you in!" He continued as he walked.
"B-bu-but, I can't, that was different, you can't just do that won't the other members of the house Hamilton get angry." She panicked looking at the huge responsibility that was now looming over head like a guillotine.
"Juliet! I can't fight anymore! *cough But she will" he started coughing but He looked a Bunch of Noirs running around playing with a ball.
"hmmm! that a lot of proxies, and she can even give them more complex commands, she's improved a lot!". she commented.
"hundred and fifty! and twenty-five of them are assigned to her school work and other learning activities and fifty of them are for her pranks and the remaining in observing me!" He said while wiping his face with a handkerchief that was suspiciously stained red.
"WHAT? isn't she developing her gifts fast?" Juliet was shocked. But then another revelation struck her.
"75 proxies to just observe you?" She began to wonder why, when she asked the man under the constant surveillance "does... she know?"
"she knows!" he said still staring at the blood stained handkerchief.
back at home
the duo returned home after a nice evening, just in time for evening tea time.
"Noir, it's time for training!" Gloria called her out.
"NO, why am i even doing it anyways, I'm not going to be able to participate in the path of lordship anyways" Noir's proxy in the form of a glowing ball spoke as the real Noir was busy downing food in quantities that could feed an entire city.
"My lord, please allow us to train this child, even if she is not eligible for the lordship, she must retain her image as the heiress of the house Hamilton" Cherry said with an large Smile in her face. Cage looked at her and other members of the family with a similar expression.
"ookay then!" he responded hesitantly.
a few moments later,
"Oh My God! Noir take this seriously!" Gloria pounced on her violently. the training period is the only time they can catch Noir and make her pay for all the annoying pranks, so everyone including Cherry goes a little extra too hard, assuming they can hit her!
"la la la *humming" Noir was cutely evading everyone pretending to be an ADHD patient being distracted by everything. Everything was pure chaos, with dirt and debris from the attacks flying all around the place.
"this feels more bonk this child on the asian difficulty rather than train this child!" Cage sat down reading the newspaper, being amused by their antics.
a few hours later, the gang was lying down on the ground all exhausted and panting while Noir looks at them smiling innocently.
"I thought you were gonna train me, what are you doing down there?"
