The screaming continued for a long while. His temperature shot up, and he scratched himself, desperate for a release of the pain inside. Some guards tried to bring him to his room, but he struggled against them, clawing and biting like a feral creature, probably because of the pain and the fever that consumed him. He was restrained with a muzzle, and chains on his hands and feet. The Duke assisted the guards to carry him and left the room.
The Duchess assured Lilli he would be normal in no time. Lilli told herself it was true, told herself it would pass, and he was only acting this way for now. But there was a little voice inside her who asked if it wasn't just the fever, but the dragon-the beast-within him. She shivered and shook her head at the thought.
A roar of anguish interrupted Lilli's thoughts. It was so animalistic and scary, it could almost be mistaken for an actual dragon's roar. Lilli was sure it was Adder, though.
