Chapter 81 - Chapter 80: Getting the Price

While Rihito was dealing with the drama of his girls.

Freid knelt close to the unconscious Uranos and caressed his scales. "My friend, I am sorry. It is because of me that you ended up this hurt."

Uranos reacting to the touch and hearing Freid's voice woke up and looked at Freid.

Through their bond, Freid could feel Uranos's feelings and currently felt the concern, worry and happiness.

"Uranos, you are not angry?" Freid asked, feeling guilty about what had happened after he had been controlled.

Uranos shook his head in denial, and through their bond, he sent him a feeling of happiness and relief.

Freid felt his eyes tear up. He understood what Uranos wanted to say, and understanding it made him feel more guilty: "I am sorry, my friend. I… I am really sorry."

Uranos seeing the sobbing Freid, got close to him trying to caress him with his head.

"…"

10 minute later

"Cough!! Everyone, we should get going and claim the price of this labyrinth," Rihito said, gaining everyone's attention.

Hajime who had at some point pulled out a chair and sat on it with Yue on his lap looked at him, "What, are you done already."

Hajime stood up standing with Yue, "And here I thought it would take longer to clear all the drama. Well, it's about time we get what we really came here for."

"But before that, what's with them," Hajime pointed at the duo of Freid and Uranos.

"Ah, don't worry about them."

Rihito looked at them, and said, "You two can leave now if you want. You already know what we want from you. So do what you must; whether you fight or hide is up to you."

Freid paused to consider his next steps. For now, he needed to return to the castle and find a way to stop this senseless war. To do that, he had to act as if he was still under control and seek out others who, like him, were weary of the conflict. There must be some who think like him who want this never-ending war to an end.

"..."

"Then I will take my leave," Freid said without hesitation. He then climbed onto Uranos' back and looked back at the humans.

Now that he thinks about it, he never got the chance to know their names.

"Can you tell me your names?"

"Ah! Now that I think about it, we never got the chance to introduce ourselves, did we?"

"Then let me introduce myself, I am Rihito, Sakai Rihito."

Hajime, seeing no issues with telling his name, spoke, "Nagumo Hajime."

Following our lead one by one everyone introduced themselves.

"I am Shea"

"Yue"

"My name is Yaegashi Shizuku"

"My name is Tio Klarus"

"Tohru"

Freid, hearing everyone's name as a courtesy, introduced himself as well, "My name is Freid Bagwa, the general of the demons… and this is Uranos, my partner. Let me thank you all. It was because of you that I had come to my senses. I don't know where I would have ended up if you hadn't given me this chance. I am really thankful." With that, he bowed his head.

Uranos, following his partner, Freid, also lowered his head. After seeing his partner Freid act like his old self, Uranos was very happy, and knowing these humans were the ones who had made him come back to his senses made him very thankful towards them.

"I will then take my leave," he said pulling out a Medallion with an engraved diamond symbol on it.

Hajime noticing the item in Freid's hand raised his brow and looked at Rihito.

Meeting Hajime's gaze I nodded signalling to him that I knew about it.

The girls noticed our interaction and watched curiously.

Freid gazed at the medallion for a moment before pointing it upward. The medallion responded by emitting a green light, sending a beam of light straight up to the ceiling. Upon making contact, a section of the ceiling split open from the middle, creating a large passage above. Through this opening, the blue sky became visible, revealing that it was an exit.

Uranos, seeing the exit, carried Freid and flew up through the passage, heading out, probably towards the ruined demon castle, Rihito guessed.

"Alright, everyone, let's go and claim what we came here for," Rihito said as he stepped ahead.

As soon as we stood in front of the large black box, a part of it opened automatically, like an automatic door inviting us in. Seeing the way inside we headed in.

Inside, there was not much to see, except in the middle where a large glowing red magic circle illuminated this place.

"Rihito is this it," Shizuku asks, seeing the empty room that had nothing except the magic circle.

"Well, it seems so. From what I had read in Oscar Labyrinth, Naiz Gruen Caliente, the owner of this labyrinth wasn't much of a talker and didn't like extravagance."

"You say he didn't like extravagant things. In this place, there is nothing but the magical circle," Shizuku asked.

I shrugged my shoulders.

"It does reflect his personality," Hajime pointed from the side.

"Well shall we," saying that everyone stood inside the large magic, and just like the other 2 previous circles it started to shine signalling its activation.

The magic circle did its job and started to scan the memories of the trials. After about 10 more seconds the familiar sensation of imprinting information was felt.

Rihito, having experienced this sensation twice before, was accustomed to it and didn't show much reaction. Thanks to his Blank and Adaptive body, he was able to scan the magic circle without issue. However, the others—Hajime, Yue, Tio, and Shea—grimaced in discomfort. Shizuku, on the other hand, felt a sudden wave of pain and nearly collapsed, requiring my support. Lastly, Tohru had a minimal reaction; she simply frowned, feeling uneasy.

The process ends in about a few more seconds, transferring all the knowledge about the spatial magic.

"Spatial magic Huh? As expected of one of the ancient magic, these are really broken," the ability to bend space, create portals, had filled Hajime with many ideas to create new artefacts.

"Indeed, although I don't seem to have much of an aptitude for this magic, it really is an incredible magic," Tio commented.

"Nn," Yue nodded in agreement.

"You are alright," I asked Shizuku who was reeling from the pain.

"I am fine, it just caught me off guard," nodding at her I let her stand on her own.

"Rihito look at that," Shea called out pointing at the wall.

Shizuku and I both turned our gaze toward the wall, where some glowing words appeared in front of us. It said:

"I sincerely hope, that mankind's future will be decided by their own free will."

"Huh? A message from Naiz Gruen. But why is it so short?"

"Well knowing his personality, it is to be expected," Hajime nodded.

While Hajime and Rihito discussed, Shea snooping around Found something.

"Rihito, look! It's the same medallion as that guy Freid," Shea, breaking us out of our muttering, showed us the medallion.

Taking the medallion, I observed using , and just as I expected, this item was key, similar to Orcus's ring. It also has the extra feature of showing the way, probably to the next labyrinth.

"Alright, we've got what we came here for. Let's head back; we have a delivery to make," Hajime said. With those words, we headed back.
