Slash! Slash! Slash!
Shoto defused his black energy blade after cutting himself a path through the tall green grass.
This part of the dungeon was very green but that didn't matter to Shoto the only thing that mattered was…
"Food," his eyes searched for anything edible.
His hungry eyes fell upon white bird three times larger than pigeon that had just landed on a tree. Shoto whipped away the saliva from his mouth before sneaking closer to the bird.
Shoto crouched in the grass ten feet from the tree with the bird in his sight.
(String Shot)
Shoto fired a string from his palm that coiled around the white bird's neck then yanked it out the tree into Shoto's open palm.
Snap!
Shoto broke it's neck to give it a quick death.
"How do I eat this?" Shoto thought for a moment .
He burned away the feathers began before roasting it with
The bird had an unusual taste but it wasn't bad for an unseasoned meal. He tour off another drumstick and feasted on it before moving on to the wings, breast then the rest of the carcus.
As Shoto feasted on his kill another stocked him in the tall green grass. It watched as Shoto ate his meal.
Shoto had sensed the creature behind but wonder why it hadn't pounced yet. He relaxed his shoulder to make the creature think he had lower his guard.
Which worked the creature pounced, in response to this Shoto threw the leftover carcus of white bird behind him.
The pouncer's mouth opened wide to grab the carcus.
Crunch! Crunch! Crunch!
It bit into it frenetically crushing the bones and flesh as it ate.
Shoto stood up, cleaned and turned to see a freakishly large white wolf eating his leftovers.
"What is it?"
[Answer: Dire Wolf ]
"Dire Wolf huh in my world they went extinct a long time ago but they where know to be quiet big though."
[Answer: The one your seeing now still has more growing to do]
"Well not all of us get to live a full life," Shoto stretched his hand ready to create an energy blade.
The dire wolf sense Shoto's intention and quickly back away before Shoto swung his blade.
"Sharp one,"Shoto complemented it before taking a step closer.
The dire wolf took a step back, intimidated by the menacing aura Shoto was emitting. To the dire wolf Shoto now looked like a superior beast that could not be defied. Even if it's instincts told it to run the dire wolf knew it would never survive it it turned it's back to run but there was one way out for it.
The dire wolf that was in contemplation dropped down, it's ears were down, it's tail was between it legs and it shivered in fear. Submission was the answer but it all depended on you were submitting too
Shoto taken aback by this he knew it was submission but he didn't know if should accept it or not. That was until he thought back to when he was eight years old seeing his peers walking their pets in the park.
-Mom I want a puppy
-No
-But…
-No is no Shoto
That was a disappointing day for him but no child could argue with their parents.
'She was a tough woman' Shoto remembered that day.
She never even went the long route of explaining how pets where a huge responsibility she simply said "no".
Shoto patted the dire wolf head accepting it as a subordinate.
'I've always wanted a dog but a wolf is just as good' Shoto patted the dire wolf more.
[Thank you for accepting me master]
"Huh you can talk?" Shoto looked at the dire who was now wagging it's tail.
[Notice: This is the innate skill
'Oh yeah I guess it would look stupid it wolf moved it's mouth to talk.'
"Well since your coming with me your going to need a name," Shoto paused as he petted the dire wolf.
Zzz!
A buzz of static electricity gave Shoto the perfect name.
"Raijū"
As soon as the name left his mouth so did a large amount of magical energy left Shoto's body going into the dire wolf.
Shoto fell to his knees feeling dizzy "huff… huff ," he gasped "…what…the… hell?"
[Answer: Naming a monster causes a transfer of magical energy.]
"You could have told me that before I named it."
[Answer: You never asked]
"Tch whatever," Shoto turned his gaze to the dire that was now going through a change.
It's bones cracked , flesh twisted, fur shedded and regrew in an instant with it's size changing at the same time.
After the painful metempsychosis Raijū had completely changed his fur was now a shining cote of white that shone in the he fading day. His eyes were a clear blue like the gone sky. He stood showing he had grown twice his size.
"Grrr!" Raijū growled.
Shoto was on his knees exasperated from the depletion of magic energy was alarmed.
'Is he going to attack me that he's bigger?'
Lick!
A wet slobbery tongue licked Shoto's face.
'Never mind,' Shoto sighed.
"You good Raijū?"
[Never better master] Raijū howled while wagged his tail.
His howl caused a breeze that forced the grass to lay down widening the view.
"Raijū take me to that stream before the sun completely sets."
[As you wish master] Raijū knelt to allow Shoto to climb on his back.
Shoto got onto Raijū's back "Off we go" he said.
[Yes master]
Wooosh!
At break neck speed Raijū tore through grass whiles living small trails of electricity behind.
'So fast'
Shoto was amazed by Raijū's speed it was like finding a rare mount in game.
[We're here]
Shoto hop off Raijū's back and looked at the steam bathed in the reflection of the stars.
He cupped his hand together and scoop water out bringing it to his lips.
"Hah" he sighed as the water quenched his thirst. He drank some before noticing movement in the water.
Splash!
Water splattered as Shoto's hand emerged from the water with a fish wiggling in it's grip.
Splash!
He caught another fish for Raijū and roasted them over a fire near an empty cave that was close to the stream. As the fat fish sizzled over the fire Shoto asked himself a question.
'What am I going to do once I'm out of here?'
He wondered about his life goals in general. In his previous world Shoto was have become as stuntman or a music composer depending on how things when once he graduated but now he was in another world.
He didn't know what the world outside the dungeon looked like it like an fetus wondering about the world outside the womb.
Shoto removed the fish from the fire and give Raijū his. The fish were well roasted the only thing that was missing was seasoning.
"I hope this world has delicious food," Shoto mumble while eating the fish.
He turned his gaze to the stars as devoured the fish. The night sky of dungeon was beautiful the constellations were clear and bright one constellations in particular stood out to Shoto.
'That one looks like sword marks'
It was as if someone had taken a sword and cut stars into the night sky.
'Beautiful' it was Shoto's last thought after he had finished eating the fish and made himself comfortable for a nights rest.
[I'll stand watch master] Raijū set near Shoto.
"Thanks."
Shoto petted him before yawning and drifting off into sleep.
