Chapter 13 - Meloncholic Memories

The Royals were very happy about it, his parents too. As they pray he becomes one of the Exalted Ones.

Lord of Pure disagreed at first before he agreed after his daughter insisted to the point of madness. But there can't be marriage between human males and exalted females, the other way around can be possible though.

An exchange happened, the Exalted Race gave a very important relic to Transparent Lantern as a gift to allow Zamright to go to live with them.

Zamright was indeed proud to serve them but also sad he would leave his family. His cuteness has brought him greatness and also separated him from his loved ones.

However, it was later that it sank to him that he would never return to his family. Not even see them or live with them.

The race has a rule, Slaves must serve for two thousand years before they become a Servant.

Servants must serve for an additional one thousand years before they become a Member of the race.

During this period, one must not leave their place of service until ordered to.

Zamright's strongest suit was patience and a sacrificial mind.

He also understood how great the Transparent Kingdom had become as in just 10 years of him becoming a slave to the race, they had become the number one kingdom in the whole world.

He took pride in that, and their height continued.

One of his brothers became the king and with that, their greatness was sealed to be perfect. His family was deified by many people.

However, deep inside them, there was sadness. Especially his mother and sisters, they always wrote to him.

They even requested to see him but were denied. They long to see him, to kiss him. They always said they missed kissing his cheeks. He also missed that.

Time flew and Zamright learned the hard way that these races treated years as days. He used to count the days and months expecting a letter but after some time the letters stopped coming.

He became frustrated and checked again, it later sank to him it had been 50 years since he came to the castle. He hadn't aged a day though, but he knew in the mortal world that was a long time.

The letter that came next was from his sister Zeright. She apologized for not writing because she had travelled.

Zamright sent back asking about his mother but no reply.

It was one day that an older servant informed him that his mother had passed away.

That was the first blow to his heart, an injury he never recovered from. He tried to convince himself that being here had indeed made their life better.

The letters continued to come but things were changing, his siblings died one by one of old age.

The last one to pass away was Zeright who was the oldest to die at the age of 199.

He still remembered the content of the letter, how she had described how happy she was, how many children she had and also how many grandchildren and great-grandchildren she had.

She consoled him not to grieve, the life ahead of him was greater than theirs. Her kind words struck Zamright the most and in the end, she said she might die soon.

True to her words the next day he was informed of her passing. The last of his family.

A recorded scene showed to him that the whole nation mourned her as she was the last member of the House of Glory, a title they gave his family.

This blow to his heart was worse than his mother's death, he loothe life and the immortality he seemed to have gained but that didn't stop him from his duties.

However, he became distant and more like a machine.

He ignored the matters of the outside world and lived in his present. Time seemed to heal things but to him, it only clouded it. Because whenever he remembered, it became anew.

Zamright didn't know how long he had been in that place crying until his eyes no longer produced tears. The emotions were endless, he could wallow in grief for centuries and that was what he wanted to do, he desires that. To lament and to be lost in here.

But that was when he heard activity in the house, he walked out and saw a man and woman in affluent attire akin to royals.

"The King has gone to Zamunda again. This is our time to bring those products before he comes back!" the man said.

"No. It's too dangerous. Others can manipulate the throne just like we can. If we were discovered, things would go down the drain."

"You don't get it. Absolute scrutiny can only be done by…"

They were bickering about doing something dangerous but afraid to be discovered by the throne.

"The throne is omnipotent but only when the king is on it. It's now or never!"

One thing interested Zamright and that was the throne and the king. From what they were saying he deduced that the existence of the Great Lantern depended on the throne and who sat on it. Without it perhaps the nation may not have lasted this long.

He sighed and came back to reality, his parents and siblings wouldn't want him to waste away in their grief. He should honour them by trying to live.

Besides this land is his, he might as well look around and learn more about it.

With the intention to leave Zamright was able to leave the barrier, leaving the bickering couple inside.

He snuck deeper inside the Palace. Though, some guards saw him, they didn't say anything. He reached the innermost section.

Heavy guards stopped everyone from going forward. In fact, they act indifferent to everyone.

'It's slightly the same,' he commented about the building structure.

That was when he saw two people by the corridors standing. One was old and the other was Juright. He ignored them and walked around observing.

A secret path hasn't changed and he entered the throne room.
