The dragon's chest heaved with deep, labored breaths as he and Yara lay in the courtyard, debris from the explosion still settling around them. He quickly scrambled to his feet, panic and fury evident in his eyes.
"We have to go back! The egg—" he began, his voice raw with desperation.
Yara grabbed his arm, pulling him back. "No! It's too dangerous. You can't go back in there. You'll get yourself killed!"
He lunged forward, but Yara and several of Imar's men restrained him, their combined strength barely enough to hold back his desperate rage.
He fought them off, his eyes wild. "Let me go! I can't leave it behind!"
"Think!" Yara shouted, forcing him to look at her. "If you die, the egg will be lost anyway. We need to regroup and come up with a plan. Charging in there now will get us all killed."
