"Ahem, I opened it as planned," the dragon cleared his throat as he lowered his hand slowly, "let's go."
Yara chuckled softly, shaking her head. "Right, of course, you did." She adjusted her hood and stepped through the now-open doorway. The dragon followed close behind, his eyes scanning for any immediate threats.
Yara and the dragon stepped cautiously through the open door, the air inside even colder and more oppressive than the passage behind them. The faint light from the dragon's flame revealed a narrow staircase leading down into the depths.
The stairs were steep and uneven, each step echoing in the cavernous space. Yara's heart raced, eyes squinted against the dark as she descended.
"We need to find this Siera, and whatever the key opens," she said. "He's the key to finding the egg."
The dragon nodded, his eyes staring down the darkness before them. "Let's keep moving. He must be around here somewhere."
