The sun blazed down on the desolate desert, the heat radiating in shimmering waves across the barren landscape. Yara and the dragon had been travelling for days, the monotony of the desert broken only by the occasional rocky outcrop or dry, withered plant.
Yara looked at the map again, turning it in the sun. Ebonspire should be visible by now, what was going on.
she walked around slowly, ignoring the look the dragon was giving her. Had she read the map wrong? Impossible. She had been charting maps since she could think!
The dragon watched her walk around in circles, muttering under her breath. it seemed the heat was starting to get to the woman.
As he watched her, something caught his attention out of the corner of his eyes. He squinted, disbelief evident in his eyes. "Is that a forest?" The dragon asked, a hint of shock creeping into his voice. "At the edge of the desert?"
