It was massive—twice the size of a man, its skin a sickly gray, covered in jagged scales that gleamed in the dim light. Its eyes were hollow, glowing with an unnatural, hungry light, and its mouth was filled with rows of jagged teeth, dripping with saliva. The stench of decay clung to it, and its very presence seemed to suck the air from the room.
The villagers screamed, scrambling backwards, but there was nowhere to go.
The creature paused as it came into the chamber, confused. something wasn't right. Why had his minions brought it something strange? It tilted what was supposed to be its head, tasting the air. There were humans, yes. But also a creature much older.
Yara and the dragon tensed as they watched it. "What is it doing?" she whispered, pressing the satchel to her chest.
How did a simple trip turn into this?
The dragon cursed under his breath. The beast wasn't just after the villagers. It was reacting to him.
