The man led Yara and the dragon through the bathhouse's dim hallway until they reached a large building with a huge pool of steaming water in the centre. A few wooden buckets sat on the side, filled with cool water. The man explained, "We bathe first with the buckets, wash off the grime, then soak in the pool. I'll leave you two to it. Food should be arriving shortly."
After the door closed behind him, Yara let out a sigh, her hand immediately reaching for the satchel to check on the egg nestled inside. It felt warm and safe.
The dragon, meanwhile, looked around the room carefully, making sure no hidden eyes were watching them. "The coast is clear," he said, his low voice rumbling through the space. He didn't sense any immediate danger, but his instincts screamed to remain vigilant. Something about this village still felt wrong, and he couldn't shake the sense of unease gnawing at him.
