She'll eventually find her new home in the city but it sure as hell was not this.
Her desire for the place plummeted just from the exterior and then they met the snobby receptionist who have given her a once over and sneered. That sure as hell did not improve her desire to live here.
Eileen frowned at the receptionist, "Ana Reed is expecting us."
The receptionist turned on the simpering once she evaluated my sister's current wardrobe costed more than she'll ever make in a year. "May I have your name, madame?"
"Eileen Moireach."
She quickly checked her list and signaled to one the security, "He will guide you to the unit. Ms. Reed will meet you there."
Neither Eileen or I acknowledged her as she continued her simpering, rudeness begets rudeness.
The security showed us the way to a unit and guided us in. "Kindly take your seats for now. Ms. Reed seems to still be in another meeting but she should be with you shortly. Feel free to look around the unit."
With that he went out.
"The service here is atrocious." Eileen hissed as she sat down on an ornate sofa, "And whoever their interior decorator is even worse."
Kiera looked around and to her the décor was distasteful. It screamed I have a lot of money and I want all those who grace my house to know it. It did a poor show of imitating the grand residences, there was too much gold gilding, and the chandelier in the middle of the sitting room was too large for the place and the furniture was so ornate they leaned towards gaudy. The space felt suffocating.
"Is this place supposed to be fully furnished?"
"Yes, the owner can't be bothered to sell them off one at a time and just wants this gone. This was apparently a home to one of his idiot children who have done nothing but spend money and they have been sent to some remote branch of the company to suffer and hopefully grow up."
Kiera made her way to the floor to ceiling windows, "The view is wonderful though." The view looked towards the south of the building where there what looks to be a park with another grand fountain, a lot of flower bed and a grove of trees. "Though if you're set on buying this it would be good to just rent it."
Eileen seemed to study the sitting room, "Renovations would be expensive here. We'll have to see the rest of the space before I decide if it's even worth it." She looked at her watch and frowned, "The realtor is awfully late."
And that lateness might jeopardize a potential sale. Kiera's sisters had pounded into her head that time was golden. They were never late when they could help it and especially not for an important meeting.
She could visualize her sister's interest in this place going down.
There was a sudden ringing of a phone. Eileen took out her phone from her bag, "I'll need to take this." She opened one of the connecting doors to take the call.
Kiera continued to enjoy the view. She suddenly realized what the uneasy feeling she had been having since the discussion of real estate came up. It was unsettling, after pinching credits and barely living pay check to pay check in her last life, she now doesn't have to worry about paying rent and paying her bills.
She could go to a fancy restaurant and eat there every night and shop at the luxury stores and clean them out and she will have money left over.
The thought was bizarre and honestly a bit terrifying. A part of her feared she'd suddenly become drunk from having so much money and turn into someone she had despised in her previous life. Someone who is so entitled they expect people to come to them and kiss their feet for the chance to work with them when they barely had the talent to back it up. The scenario was nauseating.
But thinking more on it, she might indulge now and again to eat good food and reward herself if she has achieved something but loves fried chicken and Chinese take-out too much to take it out of her diet.
But she won't hold back on the clothes shopping. She remembered looking through online catalogue of the latest fashion and working towards being able to afford them. It would be wonderful to be able to afford them now.
She'd been through a lot in her previous life and despite being in an 18-year-old body she had been 25 when she died. And hardship was a bitter teacher.
She had embraced those lessons and she won't forget them. Just because she's rich now it didn't change what she wanted to get in life. If all she wanted was the money from acting then she would have swallowed her pride a long time ago. Some of those propositions came with a lot of money, but she would rather die than give in.
She chuckled, and didn't I just die.
Kiera was still contemplating which shoes in her bucket list would be her first purchase, when the door suddenly opened and someone asked. "What are you doing here?"
