Chapter 2 - Strange New City

My Name is Ashley Presley and I'm about to tell you the story of my life and how I found out about supernaturals and that I was one.

So, few months ago I and my Dad moved to Black Rock City because everything was going bad for us in our previous city. We couldn't pay bills, my Dad got fired from his job as a detective because he was framed, he became an alcoholic.

I was so focused on trying to fix everything that I forgot to focus on my studies and I started having low grades.

So, during Summer a breakthrough came through when my Dad's friend Travis who was living in Black Rock City and was also a cop, was working on a case involving a murder asked my Dad for help.

They eventually solved the case together and Travis got promoted and told my Dad that he needs someone to fill in his former post in Black Rock City and my Dad was the perfect replacement.

But due to my Dad being unceremoniously sacked from his previous job as a Detective, it took longer than usual for him to get the job, and when he did we made plans to move to the new city but not without celebrating.

And since we had to move to a new city, I also had to move to a new school and make new friends.

And to be honest, I wasn't really gonna miss Jacksonville, I literally had no friends, I was always bullied for being a nerd , and the most popular girls in my school dresses like their from the 80's and apply too much perfume and make-up that they're gonna give superstars a run for their money.

I was glad we're leaving all that behind and starting a new life. And sometime I get sad thinking about how our lives would have been if my mom was still here with us.

She died when I was only a baby in a car accident but the police ruled it as a murder because before she died she called them to report that she was being watched and few days later her car exploded near the woods.

My Dad had to raise me all by himself. It was so hard for him back then and he became a detective to solve her murder 18 years ago.

We arrived at Black Rock City through our truck and everything and everyone was so different from Jacksonville, Everyone was so focused on trying to make a living

And as much as I hate to admit, they weren't warm and welcoming like Jacksonville, There were lots of rich kids driving around in supercars and sportcars, Lots of Shopping malls and Supermarkets and lots of Technology.

Everybody were those "Not Giving a fuck" kind of people.I bet they wouldn't even care if someone was getting mugged, raped or killed in front of them.

Simply put in one word they were just.... Strange.
