"What did you do?" asked the bunny shifter from where she stood against the far side of the room. She was surrounded by three males, all bunnies themselves, and I could only assume they were her mates.

 

"I suggested retirement," I shrugged. "I guess they took my advice."

 

"That's bullshit. I know Councilman Lloyd. There is no way he would ever consider retiring. And even if he did, his son would have taken his place," grunted Silas, frantically typing in a different number.

 

I had to admit, I was impressed that he even managed to memorize their numbers. Most people would have just had them saved in their contact list.

 

"No answer?" I asked, sparing a brief glance at the wolf. "Are you going to try five more times before you understand that none of them want to talk to you?"

 

The poor Alpha wolf seemed to collapse under my gaze as he flopped down to his seat, his eyes staring blankly ahead.
