Chapter 234 - Chapter 234: The Call

Based on the information available, York has a high probability of knowing what has happened.

Cultists have utilized the power of a certain demon to create disturbances.

"It's just unknown whether it was intentional or not, but the appearance of the demon legion already counts as a major supernatural case."

Recalling the black-clothed individuals Emily mentioned, York dialed a number that has always been in his memory.

The church's hierarchical control is quite clear, with priests scattered across various locations, each responsible for their own area.

Each diocese has a bishop in charge.

To put it simply, this bishop is the superior of these priests.

And the bishop responsible for all of Bangkok, Thailand, is Bishop Richard.

In his memory, this was a bishop he did not get along with well. If not for this occasion, he probably would not have made this call.

But there was no choice.

The concept of news has its timing.

Thanks to Emily, York believes he knows more about the situation earlier than his clerical counterparts in Thailand.

He even managed to piece together a line of events.

Contrary to the churches responsible for supernatural incidents, it was the ordinary police in Thailand who knew first and then rushed to the scene.

However, ordinary bullets are basically useless against these dark supernatural creatures.

Even if suppressed by powerful firepower, it could only disperse the bodies of the undead.

In other words, even if the flesh is gone, the essence controlling the body, the dark creature, still exists. It can still create another new undead, or even directly invade a recently deceased human, endlessly regenerating.

Thus, the undead are much more formidable than zombies that can still die.

Only supernatural can effectively combat supernatural, otherwise it's an uphill battle. This is one of the reasons why the church holds such an exalted position in this parallel world.

Because it has formed a monopoly.

Anything that forms a monopoly becomes an invisible behemoth, let alone the church that has pervaded Western history and developed to the present day, which is a giant.

This is also one of the reasons why the church can cooperate with official agencies of various countries.

The ringing continued, and York stared at the handset, not expecting the other side to reject the call, as the phone of the church special line already indicated his identity. This call was not from a stranger, but from a special envoy or commissioner.

As soon as this thought came to him, the phone was answered.

A coarse voice came through.

"Hello, I am Daniel Engoncom, a priest."

York knew very well that this was a priest stationed by Bishop Richard.

"I am York John, Father York. I need to speak with Bishop Richard."

The voice fell in a room, reaching the ears of Daniel, the priest, whose widening eyes betrayed his unease.

"Father York?"

Daniel, dressed in a cassock, paused momentarily before confirming instinctively.

"Yes, I need to speak with Bishop Richard."

Hearing this heavy voice, Daniel remembered the caller ID shown on the call, recalling the significance behind it, and did not refuse.

"Just a moment."

After saying that, Daniel walked towards a door that was slightly ajar, holding the phone that was still off the hook.

The door opened to reveal a small church, and deep within the neatly arranged pews, an old man was kneeling in prayer before an image of Jesus.

Daniel, disregarding everything else, hurried over, and in the old man's opening eyes, whispered:

"Bishop, a call from Father York."

Then, he reminded the old man with a wrinkled brow and eyes,

"The special line number."

"I know." Bishop Richard rose from the pews with the help of the priest, sitting down.

"I also know what he's doing in Thailand, but why is he calling me? Doesn't he know I dislike him?"

Muttering to himself, Bishop Richard took the phone, his words reaching York's ears through the device.

Daniel, the priest, twitched, unsure how to respond.

"Is this old guy doing this on purpose?"

Only York couldn't help but mutter in his heart.

"Is there something?" Bishop Richard asked in an official tone, even coldly.

"The Siam Paragon mall has had an incident," York replied in an equally business-like and calm tone.

"A demon legion has appeared in the world of men. I suspect it's the work of the Satanist cult."

York's eyes shimmered with wisdom, his voice remaining steady.

"My judgment is that this is meant to divert our attention, to spread our forces thin so we can't extricate ourselves. In other words, this is a quagmire set by the Satanist cult to trap us.

Their main focus is on a girl, and to prevent the situation from worsening, I need you to protect a girl named Emily. I suspect she is the sacrifice the Satanist cult needs."

With that, York added, "And a boy named Saxton."

Bishop Richard's expression finally changed, and he looked at Daniel, the priest, who also heard this statement.

The appearance of a demon legion, no matter the scale, is considered a major supernatural event, requiring the cooperation of several churches to suppress.

And this was just one of the demon legions.

Daniel's face had already turned serious. He nodded slightly to the bishop in front of him, indicating understanding, then hurriedly left.

He needed to verify the truth of the matter.

"How large is the scale?" Bishop Richard asked, his eyes radiating a worldly wisdom, calmly.

York's attention shifted to the mobile phone on the table.

The background noise kept coming, with the roaring engine sound letting him know that Emily and the others were still on the run.

But based solely on the known information, it was only possible to determine the cult's motive, not the level of the supernatural event.

"Unable to confirm."

Bishop Richard's face remained impassive, asking further, "The location of those two?"

His tone softened considerably.

Although he disliked York, that did not mean he denied York's abilities.

York stared at the mobile phone, his gaze unflinching, and the next second, Emily's voice came through.

He followed up with, "Sansha Avenue."

After speaking, a memory flashed in York's mind, and he continued, "The nearest church is Sasu Church."

Bishop Richard closed his eyes and then reopened them, calmly asking, "How much longer do you have?"

York understood the question, glancing at the screen's time, "With full flight, another five hours. You can fully suppress this event, no need to hold back."
