As John Wick's mind started to get complicated.
In the silent space, only the sobs of the Reston couple remained.
A desolate and sad atmosphere spread around.
Listening to the sobs, York looked down at the barely alive, disfigured monster in the pit. Shaking his dirt-covered right fist, he flicked off the dirt attached to it, sighed, and then stepped on the wooden floor beside him, walking out of the hollow.
Before him were the silent John Wick and Erin, who seemed lost in thought.
Finally, the ceaseless crying of the Reston couple.
The previously strong-looking mistress could now barely stand, leaning on her man for support.
They might have had a happy life before, all destroyed by the dark monster lying on the ground.
Thinking this, York slowly walked over.
"It's still alive."
Stopping in front of the couple, York looked at them as they suddenly raised their heads to see him, speaking gently.
His previously fierce demeanor had dissipated, leaving only gentleness.
"I've left you a chance for revenge."
As he spoke, York's telekinesis surged, making no attempt to hide his extraordinary power. A shotgun that had fallen on the floor instantly floated up and steadily landed in his hand.
"Go on, avenge your daughter."
York handed the shotgun over gently.
"This damned monster is yours to whip daily."
Hera, with red-rimmed eyes, looked through her tear-blurred vision at the towering priest before her, exuding a calming aura.
York's eyes held encouragement.
Seeing this, Hera felt a surge of strength in her weak body. She broke free from Reston's embrace and took the shotgun.
York's lips curled up slightly as he walked past the grateful Reston, heading out.
"Erin, John! It's time to go back."
"Yes, Father."
Erin nodded at the Reston couple and followed her priest.
Watching the broad yet comforting back before her, Erin's lips slightly lifted. She was fond of her lifelong mentor, willing to follow him wherever he went.
John Wick, trailing behind, placed his night vision goggles, SCAR rifle, and fully loaded magazines on the floor. Nodding at the Reston couple, he followed Erin's steps.
The three slowly left the house.
As they reached the front yard, intense gunfire erupted from the house behind them.
Shotgun and rifle blasts.
Continuous gunfire, venting the couple's rage...
York paused, scanning the environment. Through the real-time 3D map in his mind, he sensed residents hiding and watching from nearby apartments.
Meanwhile, police car sirens and flashing lights appeared on the road ahead.
"Erin, go negotiate, let them not disturb that poor couple. If possible, help them apply for a subsidy. I'll wait in the car," York said calmly, not forgetting the traces left from his battle.
Erin paused and nodded seriously: "Yes, Father. I'll handle it."
York smiled and walked towards the modified Ford Raptor, finally appreciating the benefit of having people in the church to handle these troublesome matters.
Just as he moved towards the driver's seat, John Wick quickly took the lead, his silent demeanor clearly indicating he'd drive.
York paused, his expression slightly amused.
Having seen the 'John Wick' series in his past life, he had a fixed impression of the ruthless character. But now, it seemed to change.
The parallel universe's assassin seemed quite sensible, not as cold and heartless as in the movies.
Watching John Wick settle in the driver's seat, York shook his head with a smile and got into the passenger seat.
As the police cars approached, Erin stepped forward.
Inside the house, another round of gunfire rang out.
York heard the mission completion notification.
[...] [Mission Requirement: Exterminate Dark Monster (Completed)] [Mission Reward: +4 Attribute Points (Issued)]
"Four points in total. My overall physique is finally breaking a hundred."
"Magic breaking a hundred means it can transform into any form through the system, even bestowing a special ability after deducting the upper limit."
"Mental strength breaking a hundred translates to telekinesis and a real-time 3D map in the mind."
"Health breaking a hundred eliminates fatigue, filling the body with energy and evolving it to another level, enhancing recovery."
"So, what ability will you bring? The predicted immortality?"
Watching Erin negotiating with the officials, York stared at the transparent virtual window always in his view, taking a deep breath.
He immediately added the newly acquired four attribute points to his physique.
[Overall Physique: 99.5 raised to 103.5]
With the prompt, York instinctively shivered, feeling an intense yet strangely comfortable itchiness throughout his body.
"Hisss!"
The weird sensation made York gasp in shock.
This caused John Wick, who had been watching the negotiation, to give a puzzled look.
"Father York, are you alright?"
York bit his molar, managing a kind smile: "I'm fine, John. Just a bit tired. Once Erin gets in, you drive away."
Saying this, York grimaced slightly: "Call me when we get to Pluto Church."
Seeing the priest's unnatural posture, John Wick glanced strangely but didn't think much and just nodded.
As York leaned against the seat and closed his eyes, enduring and accepting the transformation inside out, he seemed calm but his eyelids twitched, betraying his true state.
Feeling stronger, York couldn't help but smile.
What a thrilling sensation!
...
Time passed by, with York experiencing this dual sensation of heat and coolness.
After a while, with John Wick's voice, York abruptly opened his eyes.
"Father York, we've arrived at the church."
Seeing the familiar scene, York exhaled and felt slick and damp all over.
Then John Wick spoke again.
"Father York, I'd like to go back to get some things, to see Helen."
York immediately looked over, noticing the sadness on the assassin's face.
Ignoring his own discomfort, he recalled the woman who often came to Pluto Church to pray for the assassin.
She was John Wick's wife.
"Go ahead. Once you're ready, come back," York sighed.
"And, give my regards to Helen."
John nodded, setting a deadline: "The day after tomorrow!"
With that, he opened the door, stepped out, and walked into the darkness alone, disappearing from view.
"Father, who was that?" asked Erin from the back seat, curious about the stranger in the Pluto Church uniform.
"John Wick, a man who would kill the entire assassin world for a dog. He's our second new employee at Pluto Church," York replied indifferently.
"He'll teach you how to use a gun."
Erin was stunned on the spot.
