This was the nightmare of her, Casey, and her family.
After Danny spoke those bizarre words, he leaped to the rooftop like Spider-Man, quickly moved to the kitchen, and reappeared wielding a knife.
"Oh my God!"
She would never forget Aunt Elle's scream, which caught Danny's attention.
"Two souls..."
Danny revealed an evil smile, brandishing the knife and charging directly at Aunt Elle.
Aunt Elle instinctively stepped back but was ultimately unable to evade and could only raise her hands in defense, only to be stabbed through by the fruit knife in Danny's hand.
Everyone was petrified by Danny's malevolent grin, including her.
Only mom reacted immediately, urging her to take Casey and hide in the room.
"Take Casey and hide in the room!"
"Go!"
Awakened by the shout, she had no choice but to hurry into the room with Casey.
It was then that she called Father York.
Unfortunately, it was only a short conversation before Danny, now wielding a blood-stained baseball bat, came looking for them.
"Hey! My darlings, where are you?"
"Bridget, didn't you want me to throw away the Book of Death?"
"Come out, and I'll throw it away."
"This time, I'll be obedient."
Under the bed, Bridget covered Casey's mouth, forced to watch as the blood-stained feet and bat drew closer.
But the next moment, she was frozen in terror by the sight of a twisted face covered in blood, its mouth wide open revealing a gaping maw, as Danny's eyes narrowed into an evil smile.
"So, you're hiding here?"
She thought they were doomed, but then she saw mom, covered in blood, her expression fierce, wielding a large axe and striking Danny forcefully.
Blood splattered everywhere, and it was mom who eventually pulled them out.
"Mom?" Bridget, holding Casey, looked at her mother drenched in blood, confused.
"I'm fine."
Understanding what she faced, Lisa, a resilient single mother, glanced at the bed where the creature, split in half by the axe but still moving, lay.
She couldn't understand how her son had turned into this ghastly figure, but from his actions towards his sister, this Danny was no longer her son but a demon.
With his shoulder and upper body split in half, Danny's face showed no pain, only a mad grin, indicating something else entirely.
"Ha ha!"
Lisa forced a smile at this sight, her eyes also revealing madness before embracing her daughters.
"Mom still has something to do."
As a tattoo artist, Lisa looked down at Bridget and Casey, her madness fading to tender warmth. She knew she couldn't die yet, leaning down to whisper to her younger daughter.
"Take Casey and hide in our secret spot from when we played hide and seek with dad! It won't find you."
"Mom!"
Compared to four-year-old Casey, Bridget understood more, her eyes instantly reddening with tears.
"Let's go together!"
Lisa took a deep breath, suppressing the pain from being stabbed twice by the creature, really freaking painful!
"Listen!"
Lisa firmly made Bridget understand the gravity of the situation.
"Go!"
Bridget clenched her teeth, glanced at Danny on the bed, whose body was slowly healing while he laughed malevolently, and forcefully pulled Casey out of the room, running towards the main room.
In the living room, they encountered a scene that made Bridget's tears burst.
Aunt Elle lay on the ground, lifeless, her abdomen half-gutted, the unformed fetus beside her...
"Ha ha! Mom!" Danny was still laughing maniacally as his upper body's flesh slowly knitted together. He looked at the pale, red-haired woman clutching her abdomen and laughed.
"At dawn, you all will die and become part of me!
You! Aunt Elle, including Bridget, Casey, the entire Reed Apartment building!"
Lisa glared at the creature on the bed, enduring the pain, her bloodied right hand grabbing the axe and striking down fiercely. Before her life faded, she wanted to buy some time for her daughters.
"Die, you damn monster!"
...
"Bridget, are you crying?"
Casey, nestled in Bridget's arms, didn't hear a response, but the sudden tight embrace and the dampness on her back told her something. She lifted her head to look at Bridget, her vision blurred, and touched her face.
"I'm sorry, I'm just a bit scared."
Casey moved too quickly, catching Bridget off guard. Bridget quickly grabbed her hands, wiped her face, and continued to hug Casey tightly in their small space, whispering.
"I'm so sorry, Casey, I had a chance..."
Just then, sudden noises outside made her shut her mouth tightly, staring at the door hiding their forms.
Casey also remained silent, burying her head in Bridget's embrace.
The sound of bones cracking.
"The Holy Light, this hateful presence..."
The sounds gradually faded away.
This gave Bridget and Casey a moment of relief, but Bridget's heart stirred, remembering the robust figure of the priest.
Somehow, hope sparked in her eyes, once filled with despair.
"Monster!"
Hearing this, Father York looked down at the demon he had just beaten, lying at the corner of the wall, quickly regenerating. He smiled easily.
Lifting his Ryan Bower revolver, he fired the last two holy bullets in the cylinder.
"I'm not, you are the monster."
Bang! Bang!
The holy bullets pierced the target, exploding inside its flesh and emitting two beams of holy light.
The demon, face twisted in agony, clutched its face, howling in pain.
This time it couldn't regenerate, its body riddled with cracks before shattering completely, falling to the ground silent.
Father York exhaled, glancing at the floor number and couldn't help but comment.
This random task, he finally understood, as the mission stated, each floor of the Reed Apartment building harbored a demon presence.
"Another grueling task..."
Looking at the dirty, chaotic fire escape, Father York left a Bluetooth speaker for the deceased residents of the floor to offer prayers for their rest, stepping up and reloading his Ryan Bower with .50 holy bullets from his belt.
