Chapter 323 - Chapter 323: What's Happening?

Is it a tracker or a listening device?

York turned to look back.

The homeless man had already disappeared around the corner of the street, replaced by Horton, who was approaching with a shoulder bag.

"Professor York!"

Horton greeted him as he approached, pointing at the brand new RV with curiosity in his eyes.

"Can I take a look inside?"

Choosing to ignore the tracker on the vehicle's side, York nodded with a smile.

"Go ahead."

With permission granted, Horton immediately entered the RV, and soon after, sounds of his exclamations could be heard from inside.

York shook his head; it was just a matter of time before all the main characters boarded the RV, and he would knock them all out, then head alone to the cabin in the woods.

So when Julie and Dana came down from their rented house, he even offered a rare smile, helping them with their luggage, which led them to speculate wildly as they entered the vehicle, their whispered conversations never ceasing.

Then came Kurt, who had arrived following the map directions, and Marty, who had brought nothing and obediently followed orders.

All the main characters for the cabin in the woods were now gathered...

York sat in the driver's seat, putting on an upbeat song on the central console to lighten the mood, showing his intent to blend in.

"Wow!"

With the exciting music, the youngsters in the back finally understood the professor's intention and started to howl and cheer excitedly.

Kurt suddenly appeared like an eel, popping up in the passenger seat with a big wave of his hand.

"Let's go!"

But then Kurt seemed to remember something, slowly retracting his hand. He turned back to look at his howling friends and then at York with an embarrassed smile.

"Professor, we can start now."

He had almost forgotten that it was his professor, perhaps even his future mentor, who was driving.

"Okay."

York didn't mind, he started the ignition, took hold of the steering wheel, and began to accelerate.

The RV slowly started, carrying the group of excited youngsters forward.

At the intersection, turning into the right lane.

York, while driving, glanced out the window as they passed a villa.

On the second-floor balcony of this villa stood a man with a very straight posture.

He tapped the earpiece at his ear and spoke, "Everyone is on the move, timing is just right."

This seemed to be some kind of signal; York narrowed his eyes, murmuring to himself, "Finally, the beginning time has come, the cabin in the woods should be fully prepared by now, thus minimizing the impact and changes..."

His murmur was quiet, but Kurt could hear it, although he couldn't make out the words clearly due to the music, and asked subconsciously.

"Professor York, what did you say? I didn't catch that, were you calling me?"

Without responding, York's psychic power surged invisibly.

Bang, bang, bang!

Kurt, including Julie and the others who were howling in the back, instantly passed out, collapsing on the floor.

"Sorry."

York looked at Kurt, who had slumped over in the passenger seat, apologized, and then placed his right hand on Kurt's head.

The location of the cabin was deep in the mountains.

Given the nature of America, deep in the mountains also meant no signal.

So the cabin's location wasn't on the GPS.

He had to use telepathic empathy to invade Kurt's sea of memories to find the location of the cabin.

Soon enough, York, like watching a movie through Kurt's memory fragments, found the exact location of the cabin.

"Success."

York pressed down hard on the accelerator, driving into an unmonitored area, and arrived at a house he had rented beforehand, where he carefully settled the unconscious Kurt and others.

"As your teacher, this is my way of making amends."

Looking at the five people sprawled on the couch, York pulled out travel vouchers and hotel tickets he had bought earlier, along with some cash for them to enjoy themselves, and then he left.

This time, if the plan went smoothly, he probably wouldn't come back.

...

In the basement of a certain cabin.

Creak!

A door made of unknown metal pushed open.

A resolute-faced, dark-skinned, robust man stood on the other side.

He looked at the two middle-aged men dressed in white shirts and black trousers, each with a badge hanging on their collar, and said calmly.

"ID, gentlemen."

The men who opened the door didn't speak but exchanged a glance; the first man stepped forward and handed over his ID.

The man took it without expression, then scanned it with a device in his hand.

"Hello, Mr. Sitterson."

He returned the scanned ID, and Sitterson casually took it back, his mouth curving into a smile.

"What's your name, buddy?"

He spoke as he walked past.

The

man took the second person's ID, continued scanning, and responded.

"Daniel, sir."

As he said this, he returned the scanned ID.

"Hello, Mr. Hadley."

Hadley, with a dominant hairstyle, took back his ID.

"This isn't the military, no need to call me sir."

Hadley patted Daniel on the shoulder, catching up to his colleague Sitterson.

"Yeah, Hadley likes being called 'Mr.'" Sitterson, walking ahead towards the station connected to various small screens, picked up the conversation.

"Besides 'Mr.', you can also call me 'sweetheart,'" joked Hadley.

The two approached the machinery, beginning to operate it with movements that showed their familiarity.

Hadley pressed all the necessary buttons and turned to Daniel.

"Although you are an elite sent by the government, you know what's about to happen, right?"

Sitterson crossed his arms in front of his chest, glanced at the screens starting to light up, then looked at Daniel.

Daniel remained calm: "We are prepared, please be assured."

Hadley smiled, "Did they tell you that this time is different from before?"

Daniel nodded, "Besides the ceremony that is happening in Japan, we have not failed yet."

Facing the gaze of his two superiors, he continued.

"I will fulfill my duties, Mr. Hadley."

"Very good!" Hadley nodded in satisfaction, looking at the screens that were now all lit up, and waved his hand.

"Go on then."

Daniel bowed slightly in acknowledgment and left the spot.

Sitterson, who had been watching, withdrew his gaze, looked at Hadley who had already sat down, and then also moved to his position.

The next second, all the large and small screens lit up, displaying various data and some images.

"Okay! System connected!" Hadley spoke.

Sitterson picked up from there: "Search for the target, let's see where the target has reached."

As these words sounded, an image on a small screen was directly linked to the big screen.

It was an image of a map, updating by the second, zooming in on each confirmed location.

Until a new image appeared.

Unexpectedly, the image was quite shocking, beyond imagination, causing discordant noises to arise in what was clearly a command center.

"Fk! Can someone tell me what's happening?"

Hadley, looking at the image on the big screen, was somewhat flabbergasted.

On the big screen.

The man they defined as the sage, even a witness, a young professor, was kidnapping their planned guide who was afraid the target would suddenly change course, and was arranged on the road...
