Chapter 135 - Chapter 135: Sending Away

Every job or position inevitably has its hierarchy, and paranormal events are no exception, being subject to classification.

The classification system exists for precision and targeted action. Through this system, the Church can dispatch clergy of corresponding ranks to exorcise, avoiding unnecessary casualties.

Thus, the typical haunting incidents encountered by the Warrens are classified as ordinary spiritual events, categorized as Level I paranormal events. This includes cases like the Mary Eastey lineage and the Ronnie DeFeo incident, all classified under Level I.

As for now...

The massive roar and visible commotion had deeply concerned Brother Kenny outside.

"Such a commotion likely indicates a Level III paranormal event."

Hearing this soul-shaking roar,

Brother Kenny gripped the handle of his bike, staring intently at the Reed Apartment building from where the commotion emanated.

He couldn't begin to imagine what was happening inside, understanding this situation was beyond his involvement.

Yet, the thought of Father York's presence offered him some relief.

"I'm scared, Bridget."

Meanwhile, Casey trembled fearfully, nestled tightly in Bridget's arms.

"Is the building going to collapse?"

Hiding in a small space carved behind a cabinet, Bridget, too, was unsure of the events unfolding outside as the building shook like during an earthquake.

Despite her fears, she assumed the role of a reassuring older sister, comforting Casey.

"Casey, we'll be okay, trust me."

Though saying this, Bridget's thoughts inadvertently drifted to the robust figure of the priest, and she couldn't help but wonder,

"Will you come...?"

Her current predicament filled her with unease and anxiety.

It was an uncomfortable feeling, understanding if the priest didn't come and fearing for him if he did because of her...

Just as this thought crossed her mind, whether by illusion or not, Bridget suddenly saw the comforting figure of the priest appear before her.

Dressed in his familiar cassock, carrying a small bag, and always with a gentle smile, the priest appeared so suddenly, it felt unreal.

"An illusion? A hallucination?"

Bridget mumbled, holding her sister tightly while rubbing her eyes in disbelief. When she looked again, the priest she had been longing to see hadn't disappeared.

At this moment, Bridget, doubting her own eyes, stared at the suddenly appearing priest, asking tentatively,

"Father York?"

Seeing Bridget's dirt-streaked and bewildered face, Father York smiled and helped her up.

"Time is of the essence, we'll talk later."

With that, Bridget finally confirmed that the priest before her was not a hallucination. A wave of immense relief washed over her, making her face tense up as she suddenly burst into tears.

"Father! I...I..."

Before she could continue, a roar emanated from the seventh floor.

The large three-dimensional map in his mind, constantly absorbing nearby corpses and growing larger, showed Father York gently touching the heads of Bridget and the little girl looking up at him, smiling kindly.

"Child, with me here, everything will be okay."

He understood what Bridget wanted to say. Upon entering, the human-shaped bloodstains in the living room and the trail of bloody footprints leading to another room suggested to him easily what had happened.

Their mother had protected them with her life.

And through the evil aura emanating from another room, identical to the roaring monster below, he confirmed that apartment 1032 was the epicenter.

In such a scenario, classifying this as a Level III or higher paranormal event was fitting. That these two children survived was nothing short of miraculous.

"I..."

Feeling the comforting touch on her head, Bridget, though tearful, regained her composure and nodded seriously.

Seeing this, Father York smiled, took Casey into his arms, and gestured for Bridget to hop onto his back.

"Let's go down!"

Without hesitation, Bridget climbed onto the broad back of the priest, closing her eyes and finding solace in his strength.

"Hold tight!"

Hearing this, Bridget instinctively tightened her grip.

"All set!"

Father York exhaled, always mindful of the monster's status in his mind. Holding Casey with one hand and Bridget on his back, he headed towards the room emitting the source of evil.

Entering the room, he was drawn to a book open on a table next to an old record, depicting a monster similar to the one merging corpses below.

"This book was found by Danny in a secret chamber underground," Bridget's voice came through.

"I thought you might want to see it..."

Father York, with his vast exorcism experience and a wealth of knowledge from past lives, understood everything.

Likely another case of a child's misadventure leading to tragedy, not just for the family but for innocent residents as well.

He quickly closed the book, grabbed the record, and prepared to leave, smashing through a window to escape with the children.

Meanwhile,

"Sister Kenny!"

Eileen, who had been watching the apartment, noticed Father York making a daring escape down the building's side.

"Look over there!"
