Chapter 60
Jake Pov:
I am down at the beach for the exchange and they just said that they won't hand Astrid over. The man holding her hostage takes out a gun to threaten me, as the others move forward. Then, he drops dead, blood splattering everyone, from a shot that rung out from 7935 Dragon Lane.
I immediately take my gun from my holster and fire, downing the four other men. I immediatly go over and pick Astrid up removing the blindfold. "You alright?," I ask. I noticed that she was still in a state of shock from the ordeal.
"Y-y-yes," Astrid manages to respond. I look forward and see the helicopter taking off, same with the van. I also noticed vehicles in the distance doing the same. But as they are, the helicopters engines fail and it fails to get off the ground. The tire of the van hits a bear trap and it crashes. Only the one on the far cliff face to the south escapes.
"Yeah, we did it!," I hear from the rocks. Immediately I look over with my gun trained on them, only to see it was Dagur and Camicazi, what are they doing here. I look back to the van and helicopter and go over after putting Astrid by the jeep.
I find the driver out in the van and proceed to knock the running helicopter pilot out with a stone I throw. "What on earth are you guys doing here?," I ask them as I walk back to Astrid, sharing my vision over towards them.
"Ask Emma, when she went to get the jeep she asked us to come to town. We arrive and she sends us to the beach and we see these shady people arrive so we boobytrap them," Dagur yells.
"How the hell did you guys even booby trap them in broad daylight?," I ask.
"A thief never tells their secrets," Camicazi responds.
"Says the one who fails every time to steal from me," I respond.
"That is because your locks are just not normal at all. Your password is nothing related to you, the computer zaps us whenever we try to take stuff out, and your door requires 200 pounds of strength to open!," They yell back. I ignore them and help Astrid into the jeep and start it.
"You coming?," I ask.
"Yeah yeah, just give us a minute," Dagur says as they head over here. When they arrive and get in, we head back to town.
Narrator Pov:
They meet back at 7935 Dragon Lane where Hiccup is with a Valkyrie Sniper Rifle strapped to his back, and Nikolia and squad as well. "Astrid," Hiccup half yelled coming over. Judging from the sniper, he was the one who shot, that and the smell, is what Jake got from it..
"Hiccup," Astrid responds, and goes over there and gives him a hug.
"Jake," Jake hears to her right. Hearing it, she freezes, and turns like a robot having some glitches and shaking back and forth. When she is eventually facing in that direction, Jake sees a dissatisfied Emma and Hannah.
"Now hold on. I—," Jake tries to calm them down, but is cut off.
"No you don't, you listen to us you idiot!," Emma counters and they start getting on Jake's case. It ends with Jake in a seiza position bowing and begging for forgiveness.
"Only if you treat us exceptionally well for the next week, including in bed," Hannah replies.
"Alright," Jake answers.
"Jake," Nikolia says, catching Jake's attention.
"Yes, Nikolia?," Jake responds.
"What are you? No-one can react that fast. The second the kidnapper was down, you drew a gun from a difficult position and gunned down four men before they could even reach their guns. You fired so fast that it sounded like a single shot, but the sound drawn out. Or better yet, an automatic gun," Nikolia informs him.
"Well, as you can see, I am already not normal," Jake answers.
"Can't refute that," Nikolia responds.
"Judging from what has happened, we might need to go back into hiding. The police are being searched for traitors and such, you have the recent explosions, and more. I am pretty sure that the event at the school will be cancelled tonight, but I am not sure. But we will need to change a few things, did you get a read on that limo on the south side of the beach?," Jake asks.
"Sadly, no, the plates were stolen and did not match that car, or any car on this island. Same for the helicopter and van, and all the ways we could have identified it have either been cut away, filed down, or destroyed. I had a team go down there and pick up your leftovers once you had left. That and we can't leave the heirs of bog and berserk down there all alone. They will be released later today after their families have been notified," Nikolia informs them.
"Alright, still wish I knew how all of this was pulled off so quickly without anyone knowing though," Jake replied.
"I only did this because of the possible gains, and you mucked it up. Unless you can get something off that drive you stole or something note worthy within the next 24 hours, consider yourself dead," A person says, hanging up the phone. They proceed to call another person. "The message has been delivered," they say and this line continues for quite some time.
"Sir, they me know the message has been delivered. The person overseeing Eugene and and Eugene themselves have been made aware. We have assassins ready if they do not produce results in the time limit," A person says to a giant man at a chair behind a black river stone/black granite desk.
"Good, if people found me abusing this authority I would be impeached. That and I only have it for another 420 some days," The person says.
"Yes President Drago, sadly Archipelago law prevents a person from having office for more than 2 terms. You might have to leave earlier than that if it comes to light that you are the Tempter," the Person replies, saying the name of an infamous criminal. The Tempter is short for Prince of Darkness, or better yet, Drago, the Prince of Darkness. There are a multitude of other names, but this is one of the better ones.
