The cover clothes was so crumpled up, with the occasional tousling the girls did. The bed lamp they left at the bed post was not even safe, that's why elders do not recommend the use of candles in the room. If it was candle, the house and the neighbor's house would have been burned down. The news outlets would be like: "On a peaceful and bright night, the artificial twins burned down the mosafejo's street to ashes because they kicked the candles onto the nearby table, which caught fire quickly. Our life report says the girls are not yet up and have kicked their alarm into the fierce fire." They were such heavy sleepers. At least in the comfort of one another, they allowed themselves to be free.
People said the alarm usually sounds at best moments of dreams. Probably when you are about to discover the real murderer in the case you are solving in your dream. Or maybe the time you almost got the secret recipe if coca cola. Then you would be frustrated and be like why did I set the stupid alarm? I probably would have been a billionaire by now. But Jumoke didn't even set the alarm so there's nothing to wake her up. Except for the phone opening occasionally, but it's on silent so no one knew. When the time is 9:23am Pelumi decided it's time to wake up. She was still stretching her eyes when Jumoke stared awake too. Such telepathy!
"Good morning Ayomi."
"Peluzy, gooood moorniing." Jummy replied still yawning, her eyes not fully opened.
"Gosh I can't believe we slept this late." Jummy looked up to see the time at 8:34am. She signed in relief and said,
"Well am supposed to change the battery of that clock. It stopped working yesterday morning. The time should be around 7 o'clock. I'm usually not late to up" She said confidently.
"Well I checked the correct time and it is 9:25." Jummy's eyes widen in horror. Well thankfully they had no where to go. They both got up to the bathroom brush and clean their body. She still don't check her phone, leaving the caller wondering what she was doing up late that she didn't check her phone. Further confirming his earlier thought that the girl is a pickup girl. They are the only set of girls that play and walk around in the day, only to work continuously at night. He hissed, he hated those kind of sluts the most. And she was still reluctant in giving out her contact information.
"The girls cleaned up their bed and the rest of their room. They both moved to the kitchen to prepare their breakfast, the simplest one they decided was pap and moinmoin. The girls have the same taste with food. Most young people don't like pap, as it is the main food they usually have when they are sick because the food is very light. Jummy soaked some milky beans, Pelumi put water in the kettle. The only ingredient for pap, is pap itself and boiling water. But moinmoin requires much more, any type of beans, peppers, onions, crayfish, egg and fish is a choice, more crayfish and vegetable oil.
They took their time to make the food satisfactory enough for them and they enjoyed it. They talked alot of things and when it's past noon, Jumoke went for her phone in order to show Pelumi a picture on it. Then she discovered the 3 missed calls. It's an unknown number, she was somehow worried and showed the phone to her friend if the number is familiar to her. She said no and they proceeded to call the number. It rang for few minutes before it was picked.
"Hello." The person answered. The voice is not totally unfamiliar but they both can't decide where they heard the voice.
"Hmm.. hello sir, please who am I talking with?" Still very confused she thought about anyone that could pull a prank like that on her.
"Oh! You didn't have my number saved yesterday, I beeped you immediately I got your number." The guy on the other end of the phone thought that 'of course you don't dare save my contact, I'm not in your league. At least you know your place.'
"Oh Mayowa! I didn't know you will really call". 'Yes I know you can't dare hope I can fancy you ' he thought further strengthen his thoughts and deductions on her. But the innocent girl was thinking that he's supposed to message her, what if she is not comfortable speaking on phone. Or maybe she was in a place of life and death and boom her phone rang. She shivered, a normal person will message and ask if she's comfortable with talking in phone.
"Of course I would call, I got your number for a reason. I don't stand girls up you see." Jummy looked into her friend's face, as if to ask 'who was waiting for your call?' Her friend nodded thinking the same. The guy is a nasistic one.
"Of course." Why waste your breathe on someone that won't realize things as simple as that.
"What were you doing when I called around 7 o'clock? I actually wanted to check up on you." Let's see what excuse the girl will give, he thought.
"I was asleep, I slept pretty late yesterday." 'Oh she didn't even give excuse, how many guys did she do overnight' were the disgusting thought of the guy. But our innocent baby girl was like 'we finished a whole K-drama season with sixteen episodes yesterday, of course we would wake up late'. Only if the guy can ask what she was doing, all his assumption would not have gone but that one would have been cleared.
"How was your night rest then." How screwed are you, was the unasked question of the guy.
"It was good and what about yours". 'Oh! Is she missing me already, why else would she ask about my night '. (Author yelling in her head: you asked first, it's only polite of her to ask back.)
"It was fine, but you know I'm alone." Too much information, she thought. Well he knew my friend is here, maybe that's why.
"Oh, okay."
"I'm kind of busy now, I would call you later." Leave her anticipating and she will fall pretty quickly, he thought.
"Of course, bye." She said eager to hang up and continue what she was doing.
"Yeah, bye." She hung up at that.
"Weird, very weird." Were the first thing Pelumi said. Jummy nodded confirming her friend thought.
"This is the picture I was talking about. I was so concentrated on eating that I didn't know when they took this picture. If not for camera sound that I heard, I would have been trending on social media as someone who lost their self in eating."
"It would have been funny and embarrassing." Pelumi said laughing her eyes out on the picture.
"I made sure I deleted everything and the backup from their phone. Gosh I was so mad. If it was someone else I would have laughed but thinking about how I would have been the country joke and the month meme, I could not laugh." They both laughed and joked before going out for lunch.
