They all stared in complete and utter shock at the woman, then at the dying guards who lay on the floor as their blood seeped into the earth. Adrian couldn't help but take a step back instinctively, his confusion mixing with a subtle dread that was unnatural to his character.
"What? Why?"
This could sum up the thoughts of all of them. Internally, Grolf, Adrian, Ruck, and the two other guards scrambled to understand what had just happened and why the hell it did.
The woman's voice, surprisingly gentle considering the carnage around her, sliced through the stunned silence. "You've killed aswell, far more brutally even, so why so surprised," she inquired, a curious lilt in her tone.
'I Had a reason,' Adrian thought defensively, the words forming in his mind like a shield against her accusation.
As if reading his thoughts, the woman's lips curved into a knowing smirk. "You Had a reason," she echoed, her voice laced with a chilling amusement.
