Ryan's face contorted into a frown as he gazed at the screen that showed the same thing no matter how many times he attempted.
[Chaos control too low to learn this skill]
This was the repeated popup Ryan got every single time he had tried to learn the Memory Manipulation skill. It didn't show this for the Black Blast or the Soundless Step skill.
"Why put it under learnable skill if I can't f***ing learn it?" Ryan sneered as he tried again, only to receive the same popup. His knew his chaos control was at one, and this meant he needed to raise it somehow.
"How do I increase my chaos control?" Ryan asked. He had discovered the system always gave answers to things concerning it if he asked.
-------------
(Stat info- Chaos control)
This is the user's ability to channel and control Chaos energy. The higher the user's chaos control, the stronger the chaos based abilities usable by the user. Chaos control can be increased by repeated use of chaos energy in combat, and it can also be increased with the consumption of chaos shards.
--------------
'Damn it, so I'll have to wait until I finish the quest and get the chaos shard reward before I can increase it?, cause there's no combat i can do down here,' Ryan thought. He couldn't wait that long.
"How can I get chaos shards?" Ryan asked.
--------------
(Item info-Chaos shards)
Shards of raw disorder and destruction, they withhold compressed chaos. These shards are the purest power sources, and the higher the rank, the stronger and purer its chaos energy. The stored chaos energy in these shards can be absorbed by the user for a significant boost in power. These shards can be obtained through different ways; however, the user can currently obtain them only through the following methods: Beast cores, Quest rewards.
---------------
Ryan was pleased to see he could at least get the shards through other methods. However, the first method involved a beast, and he wasn't sure how to get a core from one. He also most definitely wasn't looking forward to encountering any of those things any time soon.
"What are beast cores?"
-----------------
(Item - Beast Cores)
These are the mana cores of all magical beasts, found at the heart of every mana beast. They are extracted after the mana beast has been killed. This is the main source of their power, and these cores are ranked according to the beast rank from which they are obtained. Beast cores are ranked as follows:
- F Rank Beast Core
- E Rank Beast Core
- C Rank Beast Core
- B Rank Beast Core
- A Rank Beast Core
- S Rank Beast Core
- Mystic Rank Beast Core
- Void-Roamer Beast Core
- ? Rank Beast Core
- ? Rank Beast Core
-----------------
"Damn, that's a long list of ranks." Ryan scrolled through the list, wondering about the meaning of a question mark beast core, before turning his attention back to the matter at hand.
"Okay, but how do I get shards from beast cores?" Ryan asked further.
----------------
(Task - Beast Core to Shard Exchange)
Chaos Energy can be extracted from beast cores and made into Chaos shards by the system at the user's request if the required amount of beast cores is present in the inventory.
- 10 F Rank Beast Cores: 1 F Rank Chaos Shard
- 100 F Rank Beast Cores: 1 E Rank Chaos Shard
- 10 C Rank Beast Cores: 1 C Rank Chaos Shard
- 20 B Rank Beast Cores: 1 B Rank Chaos Shard
- 20 A Rank Beast Cores: 1 A Rank Chaos Shard
- 20 S Rank Beast Cores: 1 S Rank Chaos Shard
- 10 Mystic Beast Cores: Shard of Pure Disorder
-----------------
Ryan sighed as he read through it. His eyes didn't linger long on anything after C rank because he knew he was not going to try and fight any beasts that strong anytime soon.
'So the shard I was given for free is worth ten of that mana beast I fought.' Ryan wondered. He started weighing the risk to reward, and he wasn't sure if it made sense, as the shard gave him the power to barely fend off one F rank mana beast, and he'd need to kill ten of the beasts to get it.
However, Ryan did realize the fact that he had been focusing on survival and wasn't actively fighting the beast he encountered. There is a possibility that he could be way stronger than an F rank mana beast if he actually whole heartedly engaged one.
"Seems I'll need to get out of here faster than I thought. I need to get those beast cores," Ryan sighed as he swiped away the blue screen with a now expert gesture.
Then he heard approaching footsteps coming from the distance. It was the guard who brought his food. Ryan could tell from the steps alone.
"Hey, Rat." The guard came into view, holding the tray of food as usual. Ryan was standing close to the bars of the cell. "What the hell?" he flinched as he saw Ryan, who usually would be sitting down in the cell or working out.
Then, with a speed the guard couldn't follow, Ryan reached out of the cell and took the jug of water from the tray. He wouldn't let the guard pour the water on the floor this time.
"Oh, you think you're smart." The guard snapped as Ryan walked back, gulping on the water. "What if I opened this cell and beat your ass? Let's see if you'll think about water then," he threatened.
"Do it," Ryan let out.
"What did you say?" The guard tried to sound threatening.
"I said do it then," Ryan repeated, causing the guard's face to contort in anger as he dropped the tray of food, then kicked into Ryan's cell, causing it to scatter around like usual.
"Eat it from the floor like the rat you are." The guard spat before laughing as he walked off.
Ryan moved over to the scattered food with a sigh and began eating.
