Back at the store, Lydia was growing impatient that Jackson was taking so long. Finally, she decided to go there herself.
When she went there, she saw fallen shelves and under them was her boyfriend "Jackson? Jackson!"
He sounded afraid, as if someone or something might attack him any second "Lydia? Don't come here!"
"I'm calling for an ambulance!" The captain of the lacrosse team tried to tell her that won't be necessary and that he was okay, however, the young woman didn't hear him.
Some minutes later, a police car and an ambulance arrived. While Jackson was being treated in the ambulance, Lydia was questioned.
Shortly after that, a small crowd formed at the place of the incident and Noah Stillinski, the sheriff, appeared. In the same car was Stiles, barely containing his excitement since he heard the code for murder over the police radio.
However, the moment he saw Lydia at the crime scene, his world turned upside down. He quickly got out of the car and went to Lydia, making sure that the love of his life was perfectly safe with not even a strain of her strawberry-blond hair missing.
It took the sheriff all of his strength to shove Stiles away and ask the teenage girl some questions.
When Jackson's treatment was finished, the sheriff asked him a couple of questions "Jackson, can you tell me exactly what happened?"
"How many times do I have to repeat it? I was searching for 'The Notebook' when suddenly I heard that something was falling and then the shelf before me fell. That's all I know." Jackson described the situation, blaming the poor construction of the shelves for the incident.
"Are you sure you didn't see anybody? And you don't know what happened to the worker?" Stillinski was thoroughly questioning, considering the murder involved.
"YES! Are you deaf?! Can't you grasp what I'm saying?! I want to go home!" The young Whitmore declared.
The sheriff patiently explained "I understand, however, the doctors need to make sure that you're okay."
Jackson calmed down a little "I'm fine. There's no need for that."
"I get it, but for your sake, you can't go home yet." Stillinski responded.
The high school captain erupted "OH MY GOD! Do I have to spell it out for you?! There's nothing wrong with me! Don't make me call my father, because it won't end well for you, okay?!"
After his outburst, all eyes were in their direction and a strange atmosphere enveloped the place. Fortunately, Stile's quick thinking resolved the conflict, somehow "Look! Is that a dead body?!"
The people's attention was turned towards the deceased victim. The sheriff tried to prevent them from taking pictures. Needless to say, this feeble attempt bore no success.
Nowadays, when someone needs help, the first action of the others is to film with their phones. Nobody thinks that they should provide assistance.
This situation is an example. Instead of silently paying respects to the departed and going their way, the people take pictures and loudly discuss and theorize what happened.
Then, again, such is human nature.
....
The next day proceeded as normal. Students went to class, socialized and mutually dreaded over the fact that the parent-teacher conference was today.
It wasn't a pleasant day for Scott and Allison. The lacrosse player didn't have good grades at all, so his presence at the conference was mandatory.
For the young Argent, this day is supposed to be the best day of her life. People are supposed to congratulate her, give her gifts and have a good time with friends. Today is a special festival solely for one person that occurs once a year, her birthday.
Allison walked through the school corridors toward her locker. When she opened it, a couple of balloons popped up. The inside was decorated in a birthday theme, as it should and a letter was bound to the inner side of the locker door. However, she wasn't happy, in fact her face portrayed an entirely different emotion- worry.
She read the content of the letter and muttered "Lydia.."
At that moment, a wild Scott appeared "Is today your birthday?"
"No, no, I mean, yes" While calmly providing an answer, she tossed the letter inside, put the balloons where they came from, and closed the locker, pretending that nothing happened.
Allison looked at him "Please don't tell anyone. Honestly, I'm wondering how Lydia found out."
Scott was confused "Why do you want to hide the fact that you have a birthday? And why didn't you tell me?"
She was silent for a moment, then she asked "Do you promise not to tell anyone?"
"Sure, but can you at least tell me why?" Scott agreed.
"Well..I'm 17.." She confessed the unbelievable secret.
"Really?! You're 17?!" Scott was surprised.
Allison proved her decision "That was the reaction I was trying to avoid."
Scott for once realized his mistake "No, I get it! I mean, because of the constant moving, you had to often switch schools and that held you back."
She simply kissed him. Scott returned the gesture. After he got his dose of Allison-INE, the werewolf asked "What was that for?"
She placed her hand around his neck "For literally being the first person to guess right. The others say 'Did you get held back?' or 'Did you have a baby?'
"What? That's what you hear on your birthday?" Scott couldn't believe it.
"Yeah.." Allison helplessly smiled.
The werewolf proposed "Then, how about we go away? Go somewhere where there is no one?"
"You mean to ditch class?" It was Allison's turn to get surprised.
"Yeah." Scott nodded.
Allison laughed "You want someone who has never ever skip one class to do so for the whole day?"
"Why not? It would be fun, come on." Scott was corrupting the innocent girl's soul, while his own was purer than a baby's laugh.
"What about you? You already have bad grades, If someone finds out, what are you gonna do?" She was concerned about the fate of her boyfriend.
"Let's..not think about that.." He hoped for the best outcome.
While they were on their way to Allison's car, the couple saw Chrollo and greeted him, of course, he returned the gesture.
Even after he passed them, Scott's gaze was directed at him.
"Is something wrong?" Allison asked.
"No, nothing. Just..it's my first time seeing him like that." Scott shared.
"Like what? He looked okay to me." Allison didn't understand.
"Something was bothering him. Ah, just a feeling." Scott couldn't tell her that he literally smelled that emotion from him.
....
Chrollo could hear them talking, but paid them no mind. Instead, he was still thinking of what happened yesterday after he parted ways with Derek and Peter.
