*POV* Coral Sparks
I couldn't believe that all the general's were starting to think I had gone crazy or something. I slammed the door of the war room behind me with tears pricking at my eyes, the words of General Dewall.
"Your majesty, maybe you should take a couple days to rest. It is quite a job to keep the whole of the kingdom aloft, it can get too one's mind." I had almost demoted him on the spot.
I walked quickly from the castle into the gardens, the cold breeze chilled me but I pressed on. The heat of my anger cooled a little, I took a deep breath and finally stopped under an old cottonwood tree.
Looking up I took in the late morning sunshine through the bare branches, the chilly morning air seeped through my clothes. Looking at my feet I shivered and rubbed my arms, trying to warm up. The heat of my anger was gone and now I was just cool, standing outside in the chilly mid winter air.
Movement in the corner of my eye had me turning, but nothing was there. My heartbeat quickened at the feeling of being watched. "Coral.." my name was whispered close to my ear, I spun around with a screech and shot a wave of ice at the guard that stood there.
He gasped. I took a step back and shook my head. "Are you okay?" I ask, watching his lips turn blue. He shifted his spear and nodded. "I think so. Are you alright, your majesty?"
I clasped my hands together and nodded. "I will be, let's get inside." The guard bowed and I led the way.
I was growing paranoid, at least 5 more times I thought I saw someone in the shadows and the feeling of being watched was making me uneasy.
"Your Majesty, maybe a bath will help you relax?" A maid standing beside the bed suggested, I shook my head and curled up closer to Samuel. He was sound asleep beside me.
"She is right." Randall agreed, getting up from the chair by the window. "It will do you some good to relax." I shook my head. "I don't think a bath will help, what I need is to have Magnur in chains!" Randall frowned.
He came over to lightly pull me out of bed, and the maid quickly moved out of the way. Groaning, I looked up at him. "Go, I will watch Samuel." The corners of my lips pulled up in a soft smile, he hugged me tightly before letting go.
The maid brought my clothes behind me as we entered the warm bathroom, steam rose up from the hot water, I waved the maid out and undressed.
The water felt good and I soon relaxed with my head on my arms leaning on the edge of the large bath.
I gasped when I felt a hand on my head, scrambling backwards I tripped and plunged underneath the surface of the pink tinted water, I came up sputtering and frantically looked around the large bathroom. I saw no one to my relief.
"I must have fallen asleep." I whispered in the still quiet room. Grabbing my towel I left the water, something grabbed my foot as I reached the top step, with a scream I fell backwards.
The water covered my head once again, water filling my mouth. Pulling towards the surface, I scrambled from the water, and looked around, fear gripped my already pounding heart.
I dressed quickly and left the bathroom, I took a deep breath as the door shut behind me. Randall looked up from his book. "Are you okay?" He asked, I shook my head, my hands coming up to rub my face, I held on to my neck.
"Someone is in the bathroom." I said quietly, still a little numb. My back hurt from where I had fallen on the stairs. Randall got off the bed and came over to pull me into his arms, as he ordered a maid to get the guards.
Randall kept me close while 6 guards searched the bathroom from top to bottom. The captain of the guards, Sir Caveon bowed stiflingly. "We can't seem to find anything amiss. No one is in there, Your Majesties."
Randall dismissed them and took my hand, and we entered the bathroom. The room was still not even the water ripped. "We have to be more careful." Randall voiced and I shivered.
"If they can't find anyone, who was in here and how did they get in?!" I questioned the room. Randall shrugged. "Maybe there is a hidden door?" I shook my head. "No." I thought for a second. "At least I don't think so."
A loud cry followed by screaming from the bedroom, had us running. As soon as we entered we both stopped short. A dark figure stood over Samuel. "Who are you?" I dared to ask, if not only to get their attention off of my son.
He turned and our eyes met, my heart thudded to the floor. "No.." I whispered, he smirked. Before grabbing Samuel by the leg and then they vanished into nothing.
I fell to my knees, clutching at my chest. "Noooo!" I screamed, maids and guards flocked into the room. Randall knelt beside me but spoke no words.
Tears ran down my face, a couple minutes later Dixie entered with Lula in her arms. "What happened?" She asked, I got to my feet and stumbled over to her, my hands shaking. I touched Lula's small round cheeks, my heart breaking, I whispered. "He has Samuel."
Her face went blank at my words and Lula started to cry. "Search the castle!" I heard Randall order the guards. I stood numb.
"Shh shh." I took Lula and held her close, I turned to look at Randall. He was frowning. "He is scared." He whispered. A sob bubbled up in my chest. "I have to be strong." A small voice whispered in my head.
But with a cry I felt to my knees.
