Chapter 302 - Chapter 302: Dumbledore's Accusation

Before leaving Hogwarts, Murphy inspected the school's teaching situation, primarily to see if the practical lessons continued as he had originally envisioned.

The results were satisfactory. A former Oxford professor, who had contracted the werewolf virus, was responsible for the practical lessons. Murphy sat in for a while and found the professor's approach to be open-minded and patient, very suitable for guiding students who were just being introduced to the scientific method.

Murphy was reassured.

By the time these students reached their fifth or sixth year, after having been thoroughly trained in scientific research methods, they could be sent to places like the Magical Research Institute for internships (to work unpaid).

Back at the Magical Research Institute, Murphy collaborated with several teams to establish a magic radar scanning model.

After calculations, it was determined that with a large directional magic antenna array for tuning, the magic radar could cover a range of 3,000 to 5,000 kilometers while ensuring scanning accuracy was within one to two meters. If the precision requirement was relaxed, the radar's scanning range could be even greater.

However, such a magic radar could not be achieved with a raven antenna array due to the higher array precision and computational power required. Unless Murphy planned to use everyone in the psychic network as human computers, the duration of the raven array antenna would not be sufficient to support a full-angle scan.

Physically constructing a real magic radar became imperative.

Fortunately, the various precursor magic technologies required for the magic radar, such as magical antenna theory, magic frequency modulation, and magical metals, were already in place.

The most important were the magical metals and magic-reflective materials, one for conducting magic and the other for reflecting magical fluctuations.

According to estimates, to achieve the desired effect, the construction of the magic radar would require a diameter of at least forty meters and consume 6,800 tons of magical metal.

Relying on the laboratory to produce so much magical metal was unrealistic. Fortunately, the magic radar did not require high-quality magical metal, and Murphy's solution was simple: hire goblins to produce magical metal.

Since many goblins were unemployed at home after the loss of Gringotts, and idleness could lead to unrest, it was better to give them something to do.

As for the funds to hire goblins—the Lestrange family raid had yielded a lot of gold coins. Taking from the goblins and using it for the goblins was reasonable and just.

During the material gathering phase for the magic radar project, the construction of ten magical research institutes under the Umbrella Corporation's various research institute names was also steadily progressing.

Selling computers and various chips to the Umbrella Corporation had earned nearly inexhaustible funds, and with the Umbrella Corporation's next move in mobile communications already underway, along with the soon-to-be-released anti-cancer virus agents, Umbrella had become the most profitable company globally, unparalleled, with the revenue of the next few ranked companies combined not matching up.

If Umbrella were considered a country, its annual income would surpass Portugal, Finland, Israel, and others, ranking 31st globally.

Such formidable economic power made Murphy's decisions more aggressive, with nearly half of the profits being used to advance laboratory construction worldwide and the remainder for horizontal expansion.

With Murphy's foresight, promising startups in various industries were almost unable to escape his scrutiny.

Umbrella became the world's largest angel investor, almost becoming the ultimate destination for all outstanding startup companies.

In this terrifying expansion, Umbrella was rapidly inflating at a terrifying pace, gradually showing the shadow of the super-corporation it was named after.

This naturally caused a lot of apprehension. Since last year, several countries led by the United States had been pressuring Britain, and facing allies across the ocean, the British government has always been spineless. If not for Umbrella's many "friends" in Parliament, Umbrella would likely be facing the risk of being dismantled now.

Even so, sanctions had already begun to fall on Umbrella's head. First, the US joined other European Union countries in imposing protective tariffs on various Umbrella products. Then, citing Umbrella's expansion into Russia as a reason, the US government conducted an investigation into Umbrella for "suspected endangerment of US national security" and imposed an additional 100% punitive tariff on Umbrella products.

With the US and Western Europe markets essentially blocked, Murphy began to use shell companies to evade sanctions and turned his attention to the vast Third World.

Umbrella had the technology and capital; where could it not make money?

If it weren't for the British government's cowardice, Murphy would dare to directly "leave the group" and join the socialist camp.

Nevertheless, establishing shell companies to participate in construction in Eastern countries and earning some "red money" was also a must.

Apart from the muggle society's encirclement and suppression, the magical ministries of various countries also began to trouble Murphy.

The cause was Albus Dumbledore, President of the International Confederation of Wizards, submitting a complaint and investigation request to the Confederation.

Dumbledore revealed a shocking scandal to the Confederation: Murphy Darkholme, a former employee of the British Ministry of Magic, current director of Hogwarts, and owner of several magic shops, illegally obtained wealth by dumping potions to muggles, causing potions to proliferate in muggle society. He used this illegal wealth to hire muggles to study magic, making a large number of muggles aware of the existence of the magical world.

Moreover, he controlled the Ministry of Magic, recently even occupying Gringotts, turning the Ministry of Magic into his echo chamber, and himself into the actual dictator of the British magical society.

During this time, he committed numerous crimes using deception, torture, brainwashing, murder, and also severely violated the International Statute of Wizarding Secrecy, putting all wizards at risk of exposure.

In the complaint, Dumbledore listed numerous pieces of evidence, including testimonies from former Aurors, former Ministry employees, bankrupt magic shop owners, goblin victims, and several potion products from Umbrella Corporation, a puppet company in muggle society, proving their potion descriptions and similarity to wizarding potions. There were also a lot of investigations and documents about various suspicious aspects of Umbrella Corporation.

President Dumbledore requested a comprehensive investigation into Murphy Darkholme and the British Ministry of Magic and called on magical ministries worldwide to use their connections with muggle governments to cut off transactions with Umbrella Corporation, sanction its business activities, and combat this illegal enterprise endangering the wizarding world's safety, aiming to restore the world's original order as much as possible.

As the President of the Wizarding Confederation and a leading figure in the global wizarding community for decades, Dumbledore's complaint caused a huge uproar among the Confederation and wizards worldwide.

With Dumbledore's past prestige, the fact of Murphy violating the secrecy law was confirmed upon the complaint's release, requiring no investigation.

Anyone looking at Murphy Darkholme's rise over the years could realize his wealth's dubious origins.

The international wizarding community was outraged, with voices condemning Murphy's illegal activities and the British Ministry of Magic's inaction rising wave after wave.

The day after the complaint was issued, a very stressed Barty Crouch came to Murphy's residence at White Stoat Mountain.

"What do we do? The Wizarding Confederation is demanding an explanation, and they will send an investigation team next week," said Barty Crouch, his face tight with tension. "It's becoming increasingly difficult to suppress the news now. The uproar abroad is too great; we can't lock down the information..."

Murphy leaned back in his chair, seemingly unfazed by the news. "Let them come," he said with a calmness that belied the gravity of the situation. "It's time we stopped hiding in the shadows and started defending our actions openly. After all, what we've done has pushed the wizarding world into the future."

Crouch looked at Murphy with a mixture of admiration and concern. "That's a bold stance, Murphy. But are you sure we can convince the Confederation, let alone the world, that our actions were justified? Dumbledore's influence is not to be underestimated, and his accusations are serious."

Murphy's gaze was steely. "Dumbledore's influence is rooted in the past, a past where wizards hide from the world out of fear and ignorance. We're offering a future where wizards and Muggles can coexist, where magic can be used for the benefit of all, not just a select few hiding in the shadows."

He stood, pacing the room with an energy that was contagious. "As for the accusations, let's prepare our defense. We'll present our case, backed by evidence of the advancements and improvements we've brought to both the wizarding and Muggle communities. It's time the wizarding world sees the benefits of our work."

Crouch nodded, his resolve strengthening. "I'll gather the evidence and prepare the witnesses. We have made significant contributions, after all. It's time the world knew the truth about Umbrella Corporation and the work we've been doing."

Murphy stopped and placed a hand on Crouch's shoulder. "Remember, Barty, progress always faces resistance from those too afraid to step forward. But in the end, it's not the critics who count. It's the ones who've dared to change the world for the better. We'll face this inquiry head-on and show them the future we're building."

With a plan in place, Murphy and Crouch began their preparations to defend their actions and prove the value of their work to the wizarding world. It was a daunting task, facing down the combined might of the international wizarding community and the legacy of Albus Dumbledore. But Murphy was undeterred, ready to fight for the future he believed in—a future where magic and technology worked hand in hand for the betterment of all.
