Today is the last practical class before the exams.
Murphy gathered all the students in the open field.
"Practical class," Murphy said, "After a year's time, I believe everyone understands the significance of this course."
"I haven't taught you any specific knowledge. All the achievements you have gained in this class belong to yourselves."
"Over the past year, you have learned how to study, how to pose a question, how to plan the direction and steps of researching a question, and ultimately find the method to solve the problem."
"I am very pleased about this. You are all excellent students. Compared to the past, I think you now have a broader vision and a keener mind. I believe that in the future, you will all become outstanding wizards."
"A year is a short time, but you have achieved very good results."
"The Dean team has initially completed the design and test flight of the single-person flying armor. Although there is still room for improvement in comfort and safety, an era of free flight without the need for brooms, I believe, is not far away."
Dean Thomas proudly raised the flying boots they had recently been working on, earning a round of applause.
"The Draco team, through carefully designed questionnaires and precise data analysis, has disproven the fallacy of bloodline theories. The related paper has already been published in 'Magic Weekly' and has caused a great sensation, even Headmaster Dumbledore considers it an incredible academic discovery."
Draco's face turned red when he heard Murphy mention his name.
Although he had submitted to Magic Weekly following Murphy's advice and only received questions from acquaintances and elders, making him very troubled, Murphy's unreserved praise now made him feel recognized again, almost moved to tears.
The weight that had been pressing on his shoulders seemed suddenly lifted. He felt as though he could breathe more easily.
Indeed, Professor Murphy was right.
Everything must be rational. My data is not wrong, my proof is rigorous. Those who criticized me for betraying my ancestors without even reading my paper are the real fools.
Draco Malfoy felt he had finally moved beyond petty interests from this day forward, finding a more solid form of confidence.
The thing that gave him strength was no longer the shallow so-called "bloodline" but something truly indestructible – the truth.
He stood even straighter than before.
"The Autumn Zhang team, as second-year students, tackled the extremely difficult and complex topic of transformation. Through continuous exploration and experimentation, they actually developed two new transformation potions. The Gender Change Potion and the Animal Metamorphosis Elixir."
"Honestly, even I am shocked and proud of their achievements. It's truly outstanding, something I never anticipated."
"The paper on their findings is also being prepared and will be published in 'Today's Transfiguration'. Professor McGonagall praised it as the most outstanding achievement in the field of Transfiguration in recent years, and I think she is not exaggerating at all."
"This, this is all based on your guidance, Professor... and also a bit of luck..." Autumn Zhang said shyly, her cheeks flushed.
"This is not luck, Miss Zhang, this is the reward of your relentless research spirit," Murphy said, generously praising.
This is why Murphy needs more people to engage in magical research. Just like there is no formula for guaranteed success in scientific research, researching magic also involves elements of luck, or rather, probability.
To fill the gap of this probability, extensive trial and error and persistent research are needed.
Most of the time, scientific research is not a matter of intelligence, but a manpower issue.
A single intelligent brain cannot lead humanity towards a flourishing future; only countless intelligent brains working together can gradually expand the map of human cognition in the unknown darkness.
"And the Weasley brothers' team developed a new communication tool based on 'Leprechaun Gold': the Messaging Notebook."
Murphy said, taking a notebook-like object from the Weasley twins and raising it, "By connecting several notebooks through a messaging ritual, you can write letters in your own notebook and transmit them to any other connected notebook."
"An amazing invention, an extraordinary idea!"
"What's more remarkable, however, is the messaging ritual."
"The Weasley brothers developed a more generic 'enchantment' ritual, that is – imbuing objects with magical effects through rituals. Although at present, this ritual is still quite complicated and only the messaging ritual and 'Amplifying Charm' have been combined with the enchantment ritual, in the future, I believe more simple and universally applicable enchantment rituals for various spells will be developed."
"In the future, our magical world will be filled with all kinds of interesting and convenient magical items."
"This will be a great invention that changes the future of the wizarding world."
The Weasley twins set off a couple of fireworks timely. They bowed to everyone while shouting, "Welcome to Weasley's Wizard Wheezes, Messaging Notebooks on sale! Only 10 Sickles!"
"In just one year, you have achieved so many surprising successes, honestly far beyond my expectations for all of you," Murphy said. "It also fully reaffirms how precious you all are as talents."
"I hope you will continue to apply the learning and research methods we learned in practical class to your future studies, research, work, and even your lives. I look forward to everyone's growth."
"Also, this year, in addition to learning some skills, I believe everyone has made some friends."
"Through communication with students of different houses and personalities, I wonder if you have gained something from this?"
"I hope that you will cherish each other's friendship, cherish these beautiful times, and put more energy into mutual understanding, cooperation, and collective development, rather than wasting each other's lives on fruitless things like fighting, competing, discriminating, and pulling each other down."
"I sincerely hope that you can have a happier and more fulfilling school life."
After Murphy finished speaking, some students sensed something different in his words. Someone raised their hand and asked, "Professor, your words sound like a farewell. Are you not planning to teach us next year?"
Murphy came to the school for the Philosopher's Stone, and the practical class was a spur-of-the-moment idea. He never planned to stay long.
However, the students of Hogwarts truly were treasures. Perhaps because their understanding of magic was not too rigid, they seemed more capable of harnessing the "versatility" of magic. The numerous achievements within a year might be due to this reason.
Murphy was reluctant to let such a group of treasures be spoiled by rigid magical education. After thinking it over, Murphy said, "Don't worry, I won't leave you behind."
He might not teach a class, but maintaining influence over Hogwarts doesn't necessarily require being a professor.
