"What did you say?" Snape was stunned, shaking his slightly dizzy head, "I think you are... drunk."
"We have magic, remember?" Murphy said.
"Magic, it's not, uh... omnipotent!" Snape shouted, his voice suddenly rising, "Those who think magic can... do anything are just fools... who have never explored the depths of magic!"
"Perhaps you're just shying away from the difficulty," Murphy suggested.
"You don't know... anything!" Snape, supporting himself on the table, seemed to want to stand but couldn't.
"I know more magic than you've ever heard of! About death, I know... much more than you could... imagine! I've encountered things in your wildest... uh, dreams…"
He looked like he was about to throw up.
It was about time. Murphy decided to ask that question, "What about the Elixir of Life, then? It's said to be used for resurrection, isn't it?"
"Yes, it is..." Snape sat down, looking almost asleep, "No, it can only resurrect... the body..."
"Oh? Are you sure?" Murphy asked, "Can you make the Elixir of Life? What's the formula?"
"I can't make it, it needs... the Philosopher's Stone... but I know the formula…"
"Not too... difficult... Like the skin of a Nise snake, then the blood of a fire lizard, plus unicorn horn powder, toad tadpoles…"
It took a while, but Snape eventually finished the formula, and Murphy memorized it, "So, these ingredients can resurrect the body?"
"No, the Elixir of Life... doesn't directly revive the body, it needs to be combined with... another potion... but only Voldemort knows... he never told... me..."
Murphy nodded slightly.
Not bad. Although he didn't get the formula for the body-restructuring potion, the Elixir of Life alone was enough.
He was about to have Snape repeat the formula for verification when suddenly a voice came from outside, "Ouch!"
Followed by several thuds, like someone had fallen down.
…
Hearing Snape's heartfelt confession about his mother, Harry was conflicted.
His mind was a mess.
At the same time, he figured some things out.
No wonder Professor Murphy said Snape and his father were enemies – they both loved his mother, they were rivals in love.
This also explained why Snape hated him so much – Sirius had said he looked almost exactly like James.
Meanwhile, he understood the meaning behind Snape's look when he handed him the antidote earlier that day.
He saw his mother in Harry.
But Harry couldn't yet understand Snape's deep love for Lily; he just felt a chill, even fear and a sense of humiliation and anger.
He accidentally knocked over a cup in his agitation.
Fortunately, they were all hiding under the Invisibility Cloak – Harry, Ron, Hermione, Tom, and now Autumn Zhang – so they didn't attract much attention.
Thankfully, they were still first and second years; they wouldn't have fit under the cloak if they were older.
They had come to find Murphy, and after getting to Hogsmeade through the tunnel under the Bee Duke's instructions, they headed straight for the Three Broomsticks. They finally found Murphy but discovered he was drinking with Snape. The young wizards hid next door, deciding to eavesdrop on their conversation, only to hear the explosive news about Snape's affection for Harry's mother.
After hearing Snape talk about the Elixir of Life, Tom was intrigued.
He needed that.
Learning that the formula for resurrecting the body was with Voldemort, Tom decided to consult the diary if necessary.
Since it claimed to be Voldemort, it should know the resurrection formula, right?
With important information at hand, they were about to leave when a voice behind them said, "Huh?"
Originally, Hagrid, who was drinking with a few professors on the other side of the hall, heard that Murphy and Snape were also at the pub and wanted to invite them to the main table for a drink. So, he came to the partition door, but as he approached, he saw something strange.
It was a foot.
A lone foot, disconnected from the body or leg, and it looked familiar.
"Ron, your foot!" Hermione quickly whispered.
As the air rippled like water, the foot suddenly disappeared.
Hagrid rubbed his eyes, thinking he was seeing things, and instinctively stepped forward, bending down to get a clearer look.
The young wizards quickly retreated to the side, but the pub was crowded with tables and chairs. The five of them squeezed under the cloak, inevitably bumping into things. In their panic, they stepped on each other's feet, and after an "ouch," they all tumbled to the ground.
"Lily, oh no, Harry?!" The cloak was flipped over, and Hagrid naturally saw Harry, looking astonished.
"Shh…" Harry and Ron quickly got up, "Shh, quiet, Hagrid…"
"What are you doing here? You're not even third-years…" Hagrid, also drunk, his face red, didn't catch the hints they were throwing.
"Harry Potter! You should be in the hospital wing!" Professor McGonagall appeared, seemingly having had a drink, but still stern, "And Weasley, Miss Granger! Tom! Oh, Miss Autumn Zhang! This is... why are you…"
"We came to find Professor Murphy…"
"Who's looking for me?" Murphy opened the partition door, "Oh, everyone's here, such a lively scene."
Behind him on the table, Snape was already asleep, his head on the table. Murphy had taken advantage of the commotion outside to extract and compare the formula from Snape's mind and then cast an Obliviate charm on him – Snape in this state couldn't use any Occlumency.
Anyway, he would just think he had blacked out, without more suspicion.
"Harry?" Murphy looked at the girl, Harry, "What are you doing outside?"
"I wanted you to check this antidote for any problems…"
"Oh, what's this?" Professor Flitwick picked up the Invisibility Cloak from the ground, "This is quite a rare treasure."
"You were wearing an Invisibility Cloak, hiding outside, trying to eavesdrop on the professors' conversation." A seemingly crazy professor said, and Autumn Zhang recognized her, Professor Trelawney, who taught Divination.
"No, we didn't…" Ron quickly denied.
"Oh, don't try to deceive the eyes of a Seer, child…" Trelawney seemed drunk, giggling foolishly, "I have seen it, you'll have bad luck today, child."
"…" Ron rolled his eyes. Now anyone with eyes could see they were in trouble.
Sure enough, Professor McGonagall raised her eyebrows, "Detention! Leaving school grounds without permission! Appearing in a bar! And daring to eavesdrop on a conversation between professors! Outrageous! Detention for each of you! Ten points off for each person!"
"No, it's not like that, professor…" The young wizards tried to explain.
"Back to school, all of you! Hagrid, escort them!" Professor McGonagall didn't listen to their explanations.
"Wait, let me do a reading for them," Trelawney suddenly said, probably really drunk, seeming eager to show off her prophetic abilities, and waved Hermione over, "Come here, child."
"Oh, you don't look well, little girl, bad luck is coming, I say you shouldn't leave the school at this time, just stay put…"
Hermione's complexion was certainly bad, having been caught breaking school rules and losing ten points, she almost had a furrowed brow.
"As for you, child," Trelawney moved to Tom, "Bad, so bad… Death, you might die… My goodness, a terrible fate…"
"Alright, Professor Trelawney, let's…" Murphy didn't really want to listen to Trelawney's ramblings and was about to interrupt her performance when suddenly his wrist was tightly grasped.
"Professor?!" Tom's hand was also seized by Trelawney.
"Disaster!" she suddenly screamed, "A terrible disaster!"
She abruptly released their hands, tilting her head back, her eyes rolling back, her body trembling slightly, "I see... the Savior... born from death, his darkness stems from the years past, 'The Seer' will grant him endless wisdom, and leave a key to him in the Chamber... He will solve that riddle, see the future… He will resurrect from death, walking towards the destiny of a Savior."
Murphy: ??? What the...?!
Wasn't I the one who made up this prophecy?!
