Chapter 181 - Chapter 181: Fate is Truly Wondrous

"Your purpose here is?" Sirius Black glanced at the two children behind Murphy, somewhat puzzled.

"Oh, I am now a professor at Hogwarts. These two are Hermione Granger and Lucas Brightson. Like Harry, they are new students this year, and I am here to help Lucas buy a wand."

"Lucas Tom Brightson," Tom introduced himself, stepping forward and extending a hand to Harry, "You can call me Tom."

"Hello, Tom," Harry, though finding it a bit strange to be addressed by the middle name, didn't dwell on it. He extended his hand too, "I'm Harry Potter. You can call me Harry."

"Nice to meet you, Harry."

As their hands met, a sudden electrifying sensation shot through their fingertips, startling them both.

"Ouch," Harry withdrew his hand, "Sorry, it might be static electricity on me."

"It's alright," Tom said.

He was puzzled. This boy seemed a bit dull. Could we become friends?

At that moment, Mr. Ollivander emerged from the back of the shop, surprised to see so many people. "Are you here to buy wands?"

"Yes."

Tom and Harry replied in unison.

"Oh, two young wizards, both new students, huh?" Mr. Ollivander looked at them. "Who wants to go first?"

"You go ahead, you were here first," Harry politely offered, always a very courteous boy.

Tom gave him an encouraging look, quite perceptive for a sidekick.

Sidekick?

Have I had sidekicks before?

Receiving Tom's gaze, Harry sensed the goodwill and responded with a smile.

Regardless of their thoughts, Mr. Ollivander began testing wands with Tom.

Tom, however, didn't seem to have much luck. After several attempts without satisfaction, Mr. Ollivander searched the shelves. Suddenly, he spotted a box and pulled it out.

"Oh, this one…" he expressed surprise and confusion.

Choosing wands was largely a random process, but often a moment of inspiration would lead to the right wand for the wizard.

Usually, such moments were deemed as the "wand choosing the wizard," but today seemed a bit special.

Because he remembered this wand.

"Eastern Ashwood, eleven inches, with a phoenix feather core…"

This wand had a special significance, and logically, it should be most suited for the boy standing next to Sirius.

But now, it was another boy's turn to choose.

He hesitated, yet still handed the wand to Tom.

Perhaps the wand sensed Harry's presence, prompting its selection, but it hadn't anticipated the presence of another...

Generally, a wand that "chooses its owner" is hard to wield by others. Let this young wizard try, and then replace it with another.

However, the next moment, a marvelous scene unfolded. Brilliant colors burst from the tip of Tom's wand, illuminating the entire shop. A cool breeze arose around him, and with a casual wave of his hand, the disorganized wand boxes on the shelf vibrated back into place.

"Wow! Amazing!" Hermione Granger clapped her hands. She had already purchased her wand but could not achieve this feat.

"I like this wand!" Tom declared, very pleased.

Mr. Ollivander was stunned.

Undoubtedly, this wizard was Mr. Lucas Brightson.

Well, fate is indeed mysterious and unpredictable.

Next was Harry's turn for a wand.

Mr. Ollivander went through a selection process again, but perhaps due to the impact of the earlier scene, he couldn't quite feel the "wand choosing the wizard." After trying seven or eight wands, even Harry looked a bit disappointed.

Am I a poor wizard? Is it so hard to find a wand that suits me?

"Mr. Ollivander," Murphy approached, whispering something in his ear.

The latter looked astonished, "But... just now..."

"Are there no similar combinations among so many wands here?"

Mr. Ollivander, frowning in confusion, "Yes, but, what's the logic?"

"Just try a few, maybe it'll work?"

"Alright."

Mr. Ollivander searched the shelves for a while and finally brought back three wand boxes.

He opened them, "Eastern Ashwood, phoenix feather core, just different lengths…"

He took out the first one, "This one is 11.2 inches, closest to the one just now."

With so many wands in the shop, but only a few types of wood and cores suitable for wands, similar combinations are not uncommon.

These wands were very similar to the one Tom had just chosen.

Mr. Ollivander handed the wand to Harry, not very hopeful, "Try this?"

According to his theory, each wand is unique. He had never sold two wands with similar combinations in one day, so he was skeptical of Murphy's suggestion.

Yet, the next moment, a miracle happened again. A red light shot out, a breeze filled the room, and everything seemed perfect.

"Oh! Incredible! Unbelievable!" Mr. Ollivander was shocked again, grabbing Murphy's hand, "How did you do that? How did you know he would suit this wand?"

Tom and Harry were equally shocked, staring at each other.

Their wands were nearly identical!

"This is actually a pattern I've recently noticed," Murphy explained. "I have some friends studying the magical attributes of wizards, the different qualities of magic, finding each person's magic is unique. We speculated that different wands match different magical powers and summarized some patterns. Even made a chart, listing which magical attributes suit which wood and core."

"I just observed Harry's magic and found it similar to Tom's, hence knowing they might suit similar wands."

Murphy, of course, was bluffing, but not entirely. The relationship between wands and magical dimensions had been recently proposed by a researcher, with substantial data support, just without a complete theory yet.

And he knew Harry's wand because he had read the original story.

To Tom and Harry, however, it sounded quite different.

"So, our magic is almost identical?!"

Tom immediately thought of the words in the diary.

"We have startling similarities, our souls resonate, attracting each other…"

Maybe the diary didn't deceive me.
