Chapter 141 - Chapter 141: The Voice

"What did you say?!"

"Mr. Patrick and the injured members of the security team were taken to St. Mungo's by the Magical Accidents and Catastrophes squad. They had the Muggle media report it as an explosion accident... but it wasn't very effective. Mr. Patrick made it onto the cover of Time Magazine. After yesterday's press conference, he received worldwide attention. The attack on his home can't be covered up anymore..."

But Murphy wasn't concerned about the public opinion anymore, "How is Patrick? And his family?"

"Mr. Patrick's throat was torn open. By the time the Magical Accidents and Catastrophes squad and the Aurors arrived, he was unconscious and near death. They managed to stop the bleeding, but it's said he's still unconscious..."

"As for Mr. Patrick's family, Mrs. Audrey was scratched by a werewolf, but she's not in life-threatening danger."

"What about Ares? Patrick's son is alright, isn't he?"

"They couldn't find Ares. The Aurors speculate that the werewolf took the child..."

Murphy suddenly stood up, "What did you say?"

"Chief, you..."

Murphy didn't let her finish, suddenly disappearing in a flicker of movement.

He appeared on the second floor of St. Mungo's, just as he materialized, he saw several Aurors guarding a hospital room door, and the Auror Captain there happened to be an acquaintance of his.

Kingsley Shacklebolt, seeing Murphy approaching, stretched out his hand to stop him, "Aurors on duty, unauthorized persons are not allowed in this hospital room."

Several Aurors also stood in front of Murphy.

"Step aside." Murphy said, "I don't have time to waste here."

"Do you have any relation to those Muggles who were bitten? Murphy? If you admit your involvement with the Umbrella Corporation, I might let you in. Or are you still planning to deceive us even now?"

Murphy turned his gaze to Kingsley.

A part of him clearly understood Kingsley was trying to trap him; it was a trap to link him to the Umbrella Corporation, which could gradually prove his violation of the Wizarding Secrecy Act.

Kingsley had become smarter and more ruthless.

He realized that to deal with him, he had to be more cunning and unprincipled than himself. Only at this moment could he break through Murphy's defenses and make him reveal the truth.

The righteous Auror Captain of the past would hardly do this.

But another part of him just felt annoyed.

"Kingsley, step aside!"

"Patrick Duncan," Kingsley looked at the documents in his hand, "Vice President of the Umbrella Corporation, President of Isis Pharmaceuticals and Camelot Group, Chairman of the Board of WisTech, your Muggle representative. Is he your friend? Or do you just see him as a pawn to be discarded at any moment? Just like that nameless corpse?"

"Do you know, Murphy, this is the price of violating the Wizarding Secrecy Act."

"It's you who brought this disaster upon him!"

"Dark wizard!" an Auror snorted coldly.

"Does he have friends? Does he care about others' lives? Just crocodile tears."

"Go back to your hole."

"I guess, he knows a lot of your secrets." Kingsley said, "If we give him Veritaserum, all your actions will be exposed."

"So, are you here to visit your friend? Or to silence him?"

Silence him? No, Kingsley didn't really believe that.

He must have conducted a thorough investigation; he knew Patrick was important to him, he knew their relationship was good, he knew standing here at this moment, saying these words, would certainly make him furious.

He was just trying to provoke him.

Reason said: Don't fall for their trap.

Yet, anger said: To hell with it! He glared at Kingsley, a strange change occurring in his eyes. His pupils turned into funnel-shaped, one large as a deep well, the other small as a black star, while his irises seemed like swirling galaxies.

For a moment, knowledge about hypnotism from the library flashed through his mind, along with the Mental Research Group's findings on the Dementor's Kiss and the Seed of the Mind.

When he spoke again, his voice, as if echoing through countless repetitions and vibrations, filled the entire space, making everything tremble and roar, submitting under that voice.

"Step aside!"

He said, voice deafening.

Time seemed to freeze for a moment, then Kingsley nodded, stepping aside.

"You can't barge in here! This is St. Mungo's, oh! It's you!" Hippocrates recognized Murphy, "Get out! You're not welcome here..."

"Bang!" Murphy knocked the incompetent doctor aside.

There was also a trainee healer, a young girl, shivering as she watched him, "I, I don't know anything, I'm new here..."

"Do you have a rope?" Murphy asked her directly.

"What, what?"

Never mind, Murphy tore off a bedsheet, pulled out his wand, and with a Severing Charm, tore it into strips, then used a Transfiguration spell to join them end to end, creating a long rope.

Then he went to see Patrick, thankfully, he was still breathing. Audrey's breathing was even steadier, but her face and neck had several bloody claw marks.

There were also members of the Muggle security team, all Patrick's bodyguards. A total of twenty-three members, fourteen of whom were lying in hospital beds, all under a sleeping spell, with varying injuries. Although the bleeding had stopped, they were still unhealed.

The other nine lay on the ground nearby, their bodies already cold. Their injuries were much more severe, some even had their necks nearly bitten off.

Murphy frowned, silently waved his wand, and all the people, including the bodies, were neatly arranged on the floor, then tied up with the rope.

St. Mungo's was incapable of curing werewolf bites. The remaining victims either risked becoming werewolves or died here.

Murphy had to take them to the Magical Research Institute.

He glanced at the trainee healer again, "What's your name?"

"Va, Valeria Ostertag."

"Valeria, do you want to work in a better place?"

"No, not really, sir..." Valeria shook her head fearfully, "I'd like to stay at St. Mungo's, if that's okay, sir?"

"Sorry, you don't really have a choice." Murphy used a Portkey spell on the rope, told Valeria, "Grab onto the rope."

His act of barging into St. Mungo's and taking away the Muggles bitten by werewolves couldn't be hidden.

He wasn't taking Valeria to prevent her from leaking information, but he felt that to treat so many patients, relying on the Institute's only healer, Alecto, might be overwhelming.

Valeria cried, but obediently grabbed the rope.

This man even knocked out the main healer, how could she dare to refuse.
