It was a simple bar chart, with the horizontal axis labeled: Creation, Protection, Mentality, Transformation, Energy Shaping, and Control. The vertical axis was a scale from 0 to 70.
The chart displayed the values for Murphy, Alexis, and Selica. Murphy's bars were solid black, Alexis' were hollow white, and Selica's were striped.
Murphy glanced at his own values: "Creation 27, Protection 42, Mentality 58, Transformation 35, Energy Shaping 30, Control 26."
He then looked at Selica's: "Creation 37, Protection 10, Mentality 34, Transformation 29, Energy Shaping 10, Control 21."
Finally, he saw Alexis': "Creation 10, Protection 18, Mentality 10, Transformation 10, Energy Shaping 27, Control 10."
"Is this value proportional?" Murphy asked.
"Yes," Harper replied. "For instance, your Mentality value is 58, which means under the same conditions, the power of your mental magic is 5.8 times stronger than Professor Alexis."
This meant Murphy's magical power was indeed stronger than Selica and Alexis in every dimension.
This was pleasing to Murphy.
He had always thought his talent in magic was average, hence he was very diligent in school. But perhaps he did have some innate talent?
Or maybe it's just that these siblings were too weak.
Especially Alexis... poor and pitiful.
It was a shame that the magical power tester wasn't available earlier; otherwise, he could have compared and known if his so-called "second awakening" was real.
"This device is very useful for magical research," Murphy said. "Hasten the production of more models, preferably ones that can be popularized in the wizarding world. We need data from many wizards to give these values real significance."
Currently, the values shown were relative to Alexis and Selica, but they might not represent the true state of the wizarding community.
More data and analysis were needed to understand his own magical level.
"Okay, this is just a prototype. We plan to miniaturize it, and if possible, replace some mechanical functions with spells. We already have some ideas and should be able to make a usable product in one or two months."
"Excellent."
Murphy nodded. This device might not have significant commercial value, but it could be used to gather data from his potion shop and security store employees. Even a few dozen samples could estimate the overall level of the wizarding community.
"By the way, I feel like my perception of magic has improved..." Murphy briefly talked about his experiences in the village, mentioning a strange dream he had. After waking, he felt his magical perception had strengthened.
"Do you remember what the dream was about?" Harper asked curiously.
"I don't remember the details," Murphy said, not intending to reveal his past life memories. "But I felt very frustrated, like I couldn't do anything. Then, I wanted to use a spell and couldn't, which angered me. I tried desperately and succeeded. Oh, and I think I levitated a house, without a wand."
"That's remarkable," Harper said.
"We've studied the power of spells. Generally, a wizard's spell power is very limited without a wand. Even with a wand, levitating a house weighing hundreds of tons is incredible."
"But it does sound like the 'awakening' you mentioned. In the library, there are many cases of children's magical awakening, some very special. For example, it's hard for ordinary wizards to fly, but among awakened children, floating or flying is not rare. Some unconsciously perform complex transfiguration spells."
"And in these cases, the children didn't use wands."
"Do you think wand use actually limits a wizard's potential?" Murphy asked.
"No, from the records, wands standardize spells, making them more controllable and powerful," Harper said. "But how children perform extraordinary spells is still unknown."
"Your dream's pressure might have triggered a subconscious use of magic, similar to childhood. But it's incredible; there are no records of a second awakening."
Murphy pondered. Could it be due to the so-called "two souls of a transmigrator"? He was already a little wizard when he transmigrated.
So, was this awakening truly his own?
Without an answer, Murphy changed the subject.
"I tried improving the duplication spell, validating your Will-Guidance Hypothesis," Murphy said. "It made me think we could guide other spells to achieve unconventional effects."
The effects of some wizarding spells are quite arbitrary.
For example, the 'Relaxing Charm' can open chains binding creatures, untangle vines, or make someone release a crosshold.
This is odd, as loosening a person's grip seems the original intent of the spell, while unlocking chains is conceptually 'relaxing.'
This means many spells might be expanded by changing conditions or proposing conceptually related paths.
"I want you to explore this possibility."
"Like, can an enlargement spell magnify objects to expand a wizard's view?"
"Or can an unlocking spell crack passwords?"
"And the duplication spell. I think it has research potential. It duplicates entities, but can it just duplicate specific information? After all, an entity's total information is much larger than its specific information."
"Even more, I wonder if it can... duplicate memories?"
Murphy firmly remembered Harper's description of the Path of Spells. Increasing magical power was still unclear, but enhancing perception and knowledge could perhaps be achieved with existing spells.
If an enlargement spell could turn his eyes into microscopes, he could see and manipulate finer details.
And if memories could be duplicated, he could effortlessly absorb top muggle knowledge.
Then, with the world's knowledge serving him, why worry about achieving great endeavors?}
