Starting with magical potions, combining production and research to establish a Potion Research Institute, and then recruiting Muggle scientists to help research magic.
This was roughly Murphy's plan.
Compared to spells, which are too ethereal for Muggles to have any technological accumulation, potions are much more traceable and can greatly leverage the advantages of Muggle science.
He had already completed the preliminary research on "producing Essence of Dittany in a non-magical way," which was the perfect starting point.
Once he had made up his mind, Murphy Apparated to Charing Cross Road, then took a taxi to the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.
To sell medicines in the Muggle world, one needs the approval of the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency. Murphy, having no knowledge of this, decided to consult first.
However, upon arriving at the agency, Murphy was shocked by the low efficiency of the British bureaucrats. There was a long line in front of the consultation window, but the clerk was still leisurely calling numbers at a pace of one every fifteen minutes while drinking coffee.
Murphy hesitated for a moment but eventually decided to sit down and wait. He couldn't just use magic on Muggles in broad daylight because he didn't want to queue.
Without a mobile phone, Murphy was quite bored. Looking around, he noticed a thoughtful row of magazine racks next to the waiting area. He pulled out a magazine and started flipping through it but soon was caught by a report.
"Patrick Duncan—Ace Pharmaceutical Sales Expert."
In the center was a photo of a slightly balding, thin man wearing a Steve Jobs-style black turtleneck sweater, gazing into the camera with profound eyes.
The article described in several hundred words how Patrick Duncan went from a minor salesman in a pharmaceutical company to London's leading pharmaceutical sales expert.
It mentioned several of his sales cases, highlighting how adept he was at grasping product features and finding optimal promotion plans, making significant contributions to the pharmaceutical companies he worked for.
Murphy quickly finished the article and became excited.
This was the man! He needed someone who was clear about pharmaceutical sales.
Murphy tore out the page from the magazine.
After leaving the consultation, he found a phone booth, used the telephone directory inside to find the pharmaceutical company where Patrick worked, and dialed directly.
"Hello, Blue Mountain Pharmaceuticals."
"Hello, is Patrick Duncan one of your employees?"
"Yes, what can I do for you?"
"I want to talk to him."
"Sorry, Mr. Duncan is very busy. If you have something to discuss, you can make an appointment, and I'll arrange a time for you."
"Make an appointment now, when can I see him?"
"Please hold... Sorry, sir, Mr. Duncan has a meeting this afternoon and will go to France tomorrow for a project. If you want to see him, you might have to wait until he returns."
"I can't wait that long. Tell him I have a product that could increase his worth tenfold, and he can't afford to miss it!"
There was silence for a while, then the voice asked, "Sorry, sir, are you from a headhunting company?"
Murphy noticed the tone became somewhat colder, "You wouldn't happen to be from Black Mountain Pharmaceuticals trying to poach Mr. Duncan, would you?"
"Uh..."
The call was hung up.
Damn! Even a receptionist had such high vigilance.
It seemed Blue Mountain Pharmaceuticals valued Patrick highly.
But this precisely proved his talent.
He dialed again.
"Hello, Blue Mountain Pharmaceuticals."
"Hello, I'm David Stick from Jelida Pharmaceuticals." Murphy lied straight away.
"Hello, Mr. Stick, what can I do for you?"
"Our company owes your company a sum of money, and my boss asked me to come over to your company to check the accounts and settle the payment. May I know your company's address?"
The receptionist was a bit puzzled, sounding like an old client who didn't know the address?
But since they were coming to pay, there was no reason to refuse, "891 Greenford Road..."
"Thank you very much."
After hanging up, Murphy took a taxi to Blue Mountain Pharmaceuticals.
As a wizard, it felt somewhat comical to travel by taxi.
But firstly, he was not familiar with London, knowing only an address was not enough to find the place precisely.
Secondly, he wasn't too keen on flying on brooms—especially after breaking his leg using an old broom at home during the summer of his fourth year, he had been wary of broom safety.
Before researching flight magic and intelligent navigation, he had to make do.
Arriving at the front desk, Murphy glanced at the girl who had answered the phone. She also noticed him, "Hello, sir, what can I do for you?"
"I'm looking for Patrick Duncan."
The receptionist looked at him warily, unsure if he was the person trying to poach Patrick over the phone.
"Do you have an appointment?"
"No, it's your boss who asked me to come find him. Where is he?"
"Sorry, sir, Mr. Duncan is not currently in the company."
"He has a meeting this afternoon, doesn't he?"
The receptionist stared at him, "How do you know Mr. Duncan has a meeting this afternoon?"
"Alright, you win." Murphy smiled, realizing that smooth talking wasn't going to work with this vigilant receptionist.
"Actually, I just wanted to meet you, beautiful lady. I apologize for attracting your attention in such a clumsy way. To express my apology, please accept my gift."
Saying so, Murphy took out his wand, "Legilimens!"
Patrick was indeed not at the company but was at another pharmaceutical factory meeting with two employees from the Medicines and Healthcare Products Regulatory Agency.
"Thank you for your information, Miss Pani."
With the Legilimens spell, he also incidentally learned her name.
"I, what did you do to me..." Pani was somewhat dazed.
"Don't worry, I just looked at a bit of your memory, didn't pry too much. But, this short and interesting meeting has to end now, and you probably can't remember this. Obliviate!"
Half an hour later, Murphy arrived at the factory, only to learn that Patrick had finished accompanying the inspection and returned to the office.
Damn! Luckily, he didn't need to take a taxi this time.
Murphy Apparated directly back to Blue Mountain Pharmaceuticals.
Glancing at Miss Pani at the front desk, Murphy wondered whether to use Legilimens again, but then he caught sight of a figure entering the elevator.
Finally caught you.
Using a Disillusionment Charm to evade Miss Pani's sight, Murphy squeezed into the elevator just before the doors closed, following Patrick upstairs.
Then, getting ahead of him, Murphy entered his office, sat on the guest sofa, and lifted the charm.
When Patrick entered, he saw Murphy sitting there as if he had been waiting bored for ages.
"Who are you?" Patrick asked, puzzled. How did a visitor come without his assistant informing him?
"Patrick?" Murphy took out a bottle of Essence of Dittany and placed it on the table, "Do you want to witness a miracle?"
