Christina woke up on a bed that was being positioned in the middle of a room full of doctors. They were all females, and she recognized the one in the lead as her gynecologist.
She was feeling strong, like never before, and at the same time, weak, as if the change in era and what it had brought had been nothing but an illusion. And:
"Shouldn't I have evolved away from pain? Why is it still so painful?"
Lucas tried to joke, as his fingers were crying in distress from the strength of her grip. He forced a smile:
"Maybe the pain evolved with you?"
"FUCK YOU, LUCAS– AHHHH!!!"
The doctor who was in charge of the delivery spoke in a calm voice to not add to the excitement:
"Madam, we will have to count on you to do most of the job. Your status makes a C-section impossible. We have nothing that can overcome the durability of your body, so calm down, and breathe with me. We will start pushing, okay?"
