Lucas stopped following the ones looking for him with his ears.
His pupils went back to normal after some movements as he left his heightened state.
Now he understood why despite the repairs being done the number of guards had gone up when he had been to the place to scout.
The last few days had helped him confirm that his opportunity to leave was ready. He had only been trying to decide whether to take the risk to look for the crystal that had been taken from him.
That was why he had scouted a second place he thought might be where he had been held.
He didn't care about the one looking for him. Touching them might even cause more attention.
He remained in place as he thought. Waiting wouldn't make the teleporter become easier to reach. It might even be the other way around. And he was not assured of finding something of less than two inches in diameter while searching for the crystal.
