Estrella woke up to the sound of pots and knives and to the smell of burned foods. She left her room, since with Lucas awake there was no more need to stay in his room and share his bed to keep him within reach to ensure his safety and guard against possible complications, and came to find her restless weakened boyfriend in the kitchen of the house they were staying in.
He was wearing pants, leaving his skinnier than before upper body exposed and showing the weird unidentifiable substances he seemed to have bathed in. The kitchen he was occupying was reminiscent of a battlefield, its state already evoking pity in her for the one that would have to put things in order later.
She looked incredulously at Lucas who was pouring over a book opened on the counter before she asked:
"What are you doing?"
Lucas seemed to notice her then as he raised his head, or maybe he just didn't feel the need to shift his attention to her sooner:
"You're up. Morning."
