Iris immediately burst into laughter and mockingly said, "Only one? Or only one for today?"
Iris knew well that men like him were skilled at winning women's hearts. Perhaps the next thing he would say is, 'You're the most special woman I've ever met.' But Iris wasn't an easily deceived little girl; she wouldn't believe a word of those lines.
"I never lie." Theo stared into her eyes, it seemed he was not joking. Sincerity and certainty flashed through his eyes, so firm and resolute that Iris couldn't ignore them. "You'll know what kind of person I am."
Iris slightly shook her head. Despite the comfort and sense of trust the man gave her, she knew that after tonight, they would never cross paths again; they were like two parallel lines.
She had entered his world mistakenly, and when the sun rose tomorrow, she would return to her collapsed life to rebuild a new one through the pain, while Theo would still remain a shining star.
"I'll go back to my world, Mr. Celebrity." Iris looked out the window, the curtains hiding the beauty of the night outside. "Tomorrow, I'll kick the cheaters out of my house. It belongs to me and the only place I've ever known as home. They have no right to stay."
Iris lowered her head as she spoke, and the light cast a shadow under her long eyelashes, making it hard to identify her emotions.
Theo looked at the vulnerable woman in front of him and couldn't help but feel heartache. At the same time, he felt immense anger towards those who had hurt her, even though he didn't even know those two people.
He discreetly moved closer to where Iris was sitting. Iris noticed his approach but didn't create more distance between them. Seeing her response, Theo reached out and gently patted her back, comforting her, "If you need help, let me know."
Iris glanced at him, expressing gratitude with her eyes. Her eyes were red, tears glistening on her eyelashes, and it was hard to distinguish whether it was pure sadness or the effect of alcohol.
Theo felt deep sympathy and wanted to embrace her and provide comfort, but he wasn't sure if it was appropriate. He didn't want to scare Iris away or give her a worse impression.
Feeling Theo's gentle pat on her back, Iris felt an unexpected sense of security and tranquility.
'This is what it feels like to have emotional support and a sense of safety,' Iris thought to herself. 'But he's not my boyfriend.'
At that thought, Iris felt even more lonely. She swayed as she stood up, attempting to go to the other side of the sofa to get more alcohol.
However, her alcohol tolerance was poor, and a few bottles of strong liquor had already numbed her senses. As she took her first step, she lost her balance and fell towards the ground. Theo swiftly caught her, and they both landed on the sofa together.
In the process, Iris ended up sitting on Theo's lap, and his arms tightly embraced her.
Iris closely examined Theo, his hazel-green eyes resembling dangerous and alluring creatures in a tropical rainforest, but his blond hair looked so soft and gentle, and his pink lips were slightly parted, tempting her to lean in.
Theo was also taken aback by this sudden intimacy, and he squinted slightly, looking at Iris's beautiful face. She was such a beauty! Almost like a piece of art crafted by God, resembling a young Jennifer Aniston.
His hazel-green eyes possessed a natural charm. Just by silently gazing at someone, without uttering a word, it already felt like a kind of temptation.
It became ambiguous, and the temperature between them started to rise. However, neither of them made any moves to change their positions, their faces were no more than ten centimeters apart.
Iris's professional suit had unknowingly loosened a few buttons, and her lace bra was subtly revealed with her ragged breathing. Theo's gaze wandered downward; his Adam's apple involuntarily moved, and then he quickly averted his eyes.
He wasn't the kind of person to take advantage of someone in a vulnerable state—unless she expressed her willingness.
Iris noticed Theo's swift shift in gaze, and she also felt the heat emanating between his lap after all, she was sitting on it.
She appreciated his gentlemanly behavior, but she was also tempted by him. She was maybe even hoping for something to happen.
Her ex-boyfriend— yes, he was already an ex— had betrayed her a long time ago. Why should she continue being a good girl in front of this handsome gentleman?
Iris caressed Theo's shoulder, and her red lips teasingly kissed his chin, she stopped and pulled back slightly. Half-closing her eyes, she saw his hazel-green gaze, filled with a hazy allure.
Theo received the signal.
He asked in a low voice, "Are you sure?" His words were barely even above a whisper, as though he was worried that if he spoke any louder, he would shatter this beautiful mirage.
Iris's gaze moved from his eyes to his lips, giving a clear answer.
Theo didn't hesitate anymore. He held Iris's head, leaned forward, and finally their lips met, igniting a passionate fire between them. At that moment, the world around them ceased to exist.
