Chapter 278 - Chapter 278: The Genius Among Geniuses, Uchiha Shisui

Seeing that many Uchiha were actively engaging with Obito, Shisui decided to also have a battle to attract more attention and interaction.

In the Uchiha Clan, strength is paramount. As long as you are powerful and have not betrayed the clan, you will earn respect from everyone.

To prove his strength, Shisui needed to choose a formidable opponent. He ignored the Uchiha without Chunin vests and selected an Uchiha Ninja who looked to be around fourteen years old.

"Hello, I'm Uchiha Shisui. I'd like to challenge you," Shisui said directly.

In other places, this might seem abrupt, but at the Uchiha Clan exchange meeting, this is exactly how it's supposed to be.

"Uchiha Shisui?" The Uchiha Chunin showed a thoughtful expression, quickly recalling that this was the Uchiha genius who had emerged previously.

Commoners only come into contact with Ninja knowledge by attending the Academy, where they learn to refine Chakra and various basic Ninjutsu. However, for members of Ninja clans, this learning begins within the clan before they even start school.

Different clans teach different things. For example, clans with Secret Jutsu focus on teaching those, while the Uchiha teach the basics of Chakra and the Great Fireball, usually starting around the age of four or five.

Shisui learned the Great Fireball Jutsu at an extremely fast pace during this learning process, which earned him a reputation as a genius among many Uchiha.

"So it's the clan's little genius. Hello, I'm Uchiha Chihiro. I accept your challenge," Uchiha Chihiro said after a moment of thought.

He originally had another target in mind, but he reconsidered and decided that fighting Shisui wouldn't take too much effort or time, so he agreed to the challenge.

In his view, although Shisui was a genius, his strength wouldn't be very high since he had trained for a relatively short time and hadn't even graduated from the Academy yet. As a Chunin, he felt that dealing with an undeveloped student would be easy.

"Gisho, could you please be the referee for our match?" Uchiha Chihiro asked his friend Uchiha Gisho.

Seeing that Uchiha Chihiro had agreed, Shisui headed to the empty training ground to prepare for the battle.

"Chihiro, weren't you going to fight Taishi?" Uchiha Gisho asked, puzzled. They had just been discussing Uchiha Taishi's information.

"It's fine. I'll fight him first and then go challenge Taishi. After all, he's just a junior who hasn't even graduated from the Ninja Academy," Uchiha Chihiro replied with a smile.

"Inabi was just defeated by the recently graduated Uchiha Obito. Don't underestimate these geniuses; their strength can't be judged by common standards," Uchiha Gisho said, feeling that Uchiha Chihiro might be making a mistake.

"That's not the same. Uchiha Obito has trained for several more years than Shisui. How strong can a Ninja Academy student be, even if they are talented?" Uchiha Chihiro shook his head and said.

If Shisui was two years older, he would be more cautious, but Shisui's age was too misleading.

The Uchiha were still discussing the recent fight between Obito and Uchiha Inabi, so the second match hadn't started yet. The training ground was still empty, and Shisui and Uchiha Chihiro could proceed directly with their battle.

Seeing another battle and noting that the age difference seemed even greater than in the previous match, many Uchiha became interested.

"It's that Uchiha Shisui. I've heard he's very talented. I wonder how he'll perform."

Shisui had a better reputation among the Uchiha than Obito, and many of them recognized him.

"Didn't he just start the Academy last year? Even with talent, he shouldn't have the strength to defeat a Chunin this year."

Although Shisui's reputation as a genius was well-known within the Uchiha Clan, many still favored the Chunin Uchiha Chihiro.

"Fugaku, what do you think of this match?" Uchiha Yashiro asked curiously, looking at Uchiha Fugaku.

He was leaning towards Uchiha Chihiro, who was already a Chunin, as Shisui, despite being a genius, had had very little training time.

"It's hard to say," Uchiha Fugaku shook his head, not giving a specific answer to Uchiha Yashiro's question.

He truly didn't know how strong Shisui was at the moment, as he hadn't had the chance to observe Shisui in action or visit the Academy to see his practical exams.

After answering Uchiha Yashiro's question, Fugaku looked at the fighting area. He had specifically called Shisui over to see how strong he had become.

"Fight begins!" Uchiha Gisho called out as he moved away after both participants were ready.

Shisui immediately entered Flame Breathing state and charged forward.

Noticing Shisui's impressive speed, Uchiha Chihiro set aside his initial contempt and engaged Shisui in close combat.

The two's punches and kicks clashed continuously. It seemed evenly matched at first glance, but upon closer inspection, it became clear that most of Uchiha Chihiro's attacks were blocked by Shisui, while Uchiha Chihiro struggled to defend against all of Shisui's attacks.

"He's no match for me in Taijutsu," Shisui concluded in his mind, noting that he hadn't even entered Total Concentration Breathing yet.

"How can he have such speed and power?" Uchiha Chihiro wondered, as Taijutsu typically requires more time to develop results.

"Is this going to be like the last match? This level of talent in Shisui is just too exaggerated," some Uchiha remarked in shock, their mouths agape as they saw Shisui dominating the Chunin Uchiha Chihiro in Taijutsu.

"Shisui's strength has become so formidable?" Uchiha Tekka was incredibly shocked. He knew Shisui was stronger than him, but he didn't realize it was by such a margin. To be able to suppress a Chunin at just seven years old was astonishing.

Moreover, Uchiha Tekka remembered that Shisui's Ninjutsu seemed to be even better than his Taijutsu. If Taijutsu was already this impressive, how much more extraordinary would his Ninjutsu be?

Not wanting to be outmatched in Taijutsu, Uchiha Chihiro quickly retreated, threw a Shuriken, and began forming hand seals to use Ninjutsu.

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu!"

Uchiha Chihiro gathered a large amount of Chakra in his throat and released a continuous stream of flames, eventually forming a giant fireball nearly three meters high, which he hurled at Shisui.

Initially, he had planned to conserve his stamina and Chakra to face another opponent, but now he was focused solely on winning this fight.

"Flame Breathing, Total Concentration Breathing!"

"Fire Release: Great Fireball Jutsu."

Shisui silently concentrated his breath to the limit and used the enhanced Breathing Technique to perform the Great Fireball Jutsu. Soon, a Great Fireball over four meters high formed in front of Shisui and was launched at Uchiha Chihiro.

Boom!!

When the two Great Fireballs collided, the intense flames cast a fiery shadow on the faces of the watching Uchiha.

When two users of the same Ninjutsu technique clashed, the stronger user would inevitably win. Shisui's fireball was superior, extinguishing Uchiha Chihiro's fireball and continuing to hurtle towards him.

Seeing that his own Great Fireball was no match, Uchiha Chihiro's face darkened. He felt as though all his years of training had been in vain, unable to compete with Shisui, who was still a student yet to graduate.

"This Great Fireball is even stronger than those of Uchiha Obito and Uchiha Inabi. How exactly has he trained?" The Uchiha watching the Ninjutsu duel were even more astonished.

Unlike Taijutsu, which usually only reveals its pressure in close combat, Ninjutsu's impact is immediately apparent. A Great Fireball of such size was impressive just to look at.

"Just as I thought," Uchiha Tekka sighed inwardly upon seeing Shisui's Great Fireball.

Not only the younger Uchiha, but even Uchiha Fugaku and Uchiha Yashiro, the two Uchiha Elders, displayed expressions of extreme astonishment upon witnessing Shisui's displayed strength.

"If I'm not mistaken, Shisui just finished the first year of Ninja Academy and hasn't even turned seven yet," Uchiha Yashiro said with astonishment as he looked at Shisui, who was overpowering Uchiha Chihiro.

He had tried to elevate Shisui's abilities in his mind, but found that he still underestimated him. The strength Shisui displayed was truly embarrassing for him as an Uchiha Elder; at that age, he was still far from being a formal Genin.

"Shisui's talent might even surpass that of Kagami-san," Uchiha Fugaku, equally surprised and pleased, said. He knew Shisui was talented but didn't expect his level of genius to be so extraordinary, being able to defeat a Chunin at such a young age.

"If he continues to grow like this, and considering he is Kagami-san's descendant, he might really have a chance to become Hokage!" Uchiha Fugaku thought excitedly.

Becoming Hokage is the dream of most Ninjas in Konoha, and the Uchiha are no exception, perhaps even more so. Both the dovish and hawkish factions of the Uchiha hold this aspiration, though the dovish believe that with time, an Uchiha will eventually become Hokage, while the hawkish believe that it requires strong measures to achieve that position.

Uchiha Fugaku now truly feels that the Uchiha Clan is about to start flourishing again, with two geniuses, Shisui and Obito, emerging in quick succession, and Shisui being a genius among geniuses.

After losing the Ninjutsu clash, Uchiha Chihiro could only dodge desperately from the incoming Great Fireball. Shisui, however, gave him no chance, using his swift Body Flicker Jutsu to exploit Uchiha Chihiro's openings and knock him to the ground, pinning him down with a Kunai.

"Uchiha Shisui wins," Uchiha Gisho had no choice but to announce his friend's defeat with resignation.

"Thank you for the match," Shisui said modestly, then helped Uchiha Chihiro up.

"You didn't leave me any chance to win; you are the most talented person I have ever seen," Uchiha Chihiro praised him. He hadn't expected to lose this fight, but he was convinced by Shisui's sheer strength.

"I told you to be careful; these geniuses always manage to achieve the impossible," Uchiha Gisho said, patting his friend's shoulder with a sense of resignation.

Uchiha Chihiro didn't say anything. He felt that even if he were to do it again, he would make the same choice. Who would have thought that a Ninja Academy student could possess such strength? How did he manage not to graduate early?
