Early the next morning, Mutsuki sensed some movement and immediately activated Sensory Ninjutsu, detecting someone with considerable chakra entering his courtyard.
Mutsuki calmly got up and walked outside, where he saw a Root ninja wearing a mask and uniform.
"The organization's latest orders," the Root ninja said coldly, handing two scrolls to Mutsuki.
After completing the mission, the Root ninja didn't hesitate for a second and disappeared immediately.
[Name: Yamanaka Ryuya]
[Chakra: 6400]
[Skills: Mind Body Switch Jutsu (Proficient: 1200/3000)...]
[Assessment: A Jonin with excellent support abilities]
The Root Jonin who once unsettled Mutsuki was now overshadowed by Mutsuki on the panel.
Mutsuki's Chakra is more than twice that of Yamanaka Ryuya, and his skills are overwhelming. Mutsuki possesses multiple Mastery-level Nature Transformations and Secret Jutsu, while Yamanaka Ryuya doesn't even have a single Mastery-level skill.
"Comparing with ordinary Root Jonin like this is meaningless. What level would Danzo be on the panel?" Mutsuki silently thought to himself.
If this were a cultivation world, where Genin, Chunin, and Jonin are not Titles but levels of cultivation, he believed Danzo would belong to the Kage level. However, among the Kage, he wouldn't be as strong as Sarutobi Hiruzen, the Third Raikage, and Onoki, the strong ones among the Kage.
Mutsuki unrolled the scroll, and the first scroll contained Danzo's latest orders.
Danzo was pleased that Mutsuki was able to advance to Special Jonin based on his abilities. However, Danzo cautioned Mutsuki not to expose his membership in the Root organization and to continue executing missions diligently.
Mutsuki summarized the useful content, which was not much, as most of it was brainwashing rhetoric, which Mutsuki simply ignored.
He could sense that Danzo was somewhat surprised and pleased that he had achieved this level. Sending him to the Academy was probably just a casual move for Danzo, after all, the original host wasn't outstanding in any aspect.
The other scroll was Danzo's commendation for him, but it wasn't Ninjutsu or money; it was a potion for cultivation.
Mutsuki burned the mission scroll, but he kept the potion.
He didn't dare to consume the potion Danzo gave him, but since the cultivation potion was valuable, Mutsuki didn't burn it directly.
Today is Sunday, and since the summer special training just ended yesterday, Mutsuki gave the students half a day off. They didn't need to train in the afternoon; just a morning session would do. This afternoon, he was going to teach Asuma.
"If we're resting in the afternoon, where should we go to play?" Obito was already contemplating where to take Nohara Rin for fun before they even started training.
"Sorry, Obito, but today I have to stay home and study," Nohara Rin said apologetically.
Lately, she had been studying Medical Ninjutsu and didn't have time to play with Obito.
"Obito, you can go play with Kakashi," Nohara Rin suggested.
"After careful thought, I realize I've been sensing the energy inside my body more clearly lately. Maybe Flame Breathing is about to break through. I should train seriously this afternoon," Obito decided after pondering for a while.
He wouldn't go to Kakashi unless he achieved something worth boasting about in front of him. Only then would he notify Kakashi.
"Training is good too. We're about to graduate soon, and then we'll be Ninjas," Nohara Rin smiled gently.
It's not that long, just two semesters, plus about seven months of holidays.
"Ninja, I'm so excited! I'll be able to do missions and earn money. I won't have to rely on grandma's pocket money anymore, and I can even buy her gifts," Obito began to fantasize about his ninja career after hearing Nohara Rin's words.
"But to earn money, you need strength. The higher the rank of the mission, the harder it is," Mutsuki knocked Obito, interrupting his daydreams.
Ninja is indeed a lucrative profession.
Excluding S-rank missions that ordinary ninjas don't encounter, the commission amounts for missions at the D, C, and B levels are quite substantial.
D-rank missions range from a minimum of five thousand to a maximum of fifty thousand; C-rank missions range from thirty thousand to a hundred thousand; and B-rank missions can fetch up to two hundred thousand in commission.
This is why capable ninjas don't become Chunin sensei. With just a hundred thousand a month, doing a couple more C-rank missions would earn more than that.
Not every C-rank mission involves facing Jonin opponents. In fact, normal C-rank missions won't encounter ninja enemies. If ninja enemies do appear, the mission's level would be B or higher.
Ninjas earn a lot but spend it quickly. High-quality shuriken and kunai aren't cheap, and more advanced ninja tools like Explosive Tags are even more expensive. Cultivation potions are also very costly.
If you're fixed at just a hundred thousand a month, don't even think about using money for cultivation. It's simply unaffordable to continue becoming stronger.
However, for those who want to take it easy, being an Academy sensei is still a good choice.
Because if you're not strong enough, you can't complete C-rank missions quickly, so you won't earn much in a month. You'll also have to run around a lot, which isn't easy. It's better to stay comfortably at the ninja school and earn a hundred thousand a month. There are bonuses for bringing out good results in classes.
Moreover, after stopping Genin training, you can enjoy all of this hundred thousand. Life becomes very comfortable.
Obito chuckled and began today's Flame Breathing practice.
In the afternoon, Mutsuki went to Sarutobi Hiruzen's house as usual and took Asuma away for teaching.
Mutsuki noticed that Asuma didn't seem to be in a good mood, so he gently asked about the reason.
Because it was Mutsuki who asked, Asuma explained what happened yesterday, becoming more and more agitated.
"He's always like this, as if I'm useless in his eyes. Every time I ask about my performance, it's never good enough. He always says there are too many mistakes, and he's not even willing to say a word of encouragement. Was I really so bad in that fight?" Asuma's voice choked up, his eyes clouded with tears.
Mutsuki could only say that Asuma still had strong feelings for Sarutobi Hiruzen, otherwise he wouldn't react this way.
"Don't mind it. You did your best in that fight; it's just that Obito is a bit stronger," Mutsuki reassured Asuma, patting his head.
In fact, he could understand Asuma's feelings at the moment because in his previous life, his own parents were exceptionally strict about grades.
Mutsuki did well in elementary and middle school; he often scored high in math and language, sometimes even getting full marks in math. But if he did get full marks, his parents would tell him the exam was easy or the teacher was lenient in grading. In short, it was never his own ability.
But if he didn't get full marks, it meant he didn't study properly and had regressed.
Over time, Mutsuki lost confidence in himself and then, due to an accident, he was left to himself for two years, and he fell into decadence. It wasn't until the second year of high school that he woke up.
Did his parents not want him to do well? No, he could tell they loved him very much. It's just that his parents were very rough in their way of teaching; they were afraid Mutsuki would become complacent and regress, so they wanted him to maintain a humble and studious attitude.
"Why can't a Hokage see it when you, Sensei, can?" Asuma still held considerable resentment.
Fortunately, Mutsuki's rapport with Asuma was high enough. After comforting him for a while and saying a few words about Sarutobi Hiruzen waiting for him on the way, akin to a father figure, Mutsuki managed to stabilize Asuma's emotions.
After venting, and experiencing an afternoon of training, Asuma's mood noticeably improved.
"Sarutobi Hiruzen, you better step up a bit and not let me down," Mutsuki thought to himself. Being a tutor, he had to help maintain family relationships too; he really went above and beyond.
On Monday, Mutsuki went to the Academy to attend the teachers' meeting.
