Chapter 69 - Chapter 69: Settlement of Training Tasks

"Please, examinees Might Guy and examinee Uchiha Obito, enter the examination room and prepare for the test."

As everyone expected, the final battle for the first place in the grade's practical combat was between Guy and Obito.

Guy defeated the previous top scorer in the last exam,, Hyuga Kamon, while Obito demonstrated formidable strength in battles against other participants.

"Obito, do your best." Rin, who was watching the match from the sidelines, clenched her fist to cheer Obito on.

"Rin, just watch. I will win." Obito confidently smiled and waved to Rin.

This time, he was truly determined to secure the first place.

To enhance his strength, he had endured a lot under that annoying guy Kakashi.

A month of Nature Transformation and Ninjutsu training, a month of Taijutsu reinforcement training—Obito was no longer the same as he was two months ago, unable to release Ninjutsu when engaged in Taijutsu.

"Yumi-sensei, let me show you my progress!" Obito noticed that Mutsuki had also arrived at the exam site.

"I will become the first!" Guy revealed a brilliant smile, and the two rows of large white teth were especially dazzling in the sunlight.

When it came to confidence, he wouldn't lose to Obito or anyone.

Even when he failed the entrance exam for the ninja school, he still believed he would become the strongest!

"Moreover, Yumi-sensei is watching, so I can't afford to lose." Guy thought to himself.

He always kept in mind Mutsuki's kindness towards him, and he hadn't forgotten Mutsuki's words about his disciple's improvement, which was the best reward for him. He wanted to show the strongest strength to Mutsuki.

"Let's give it a try then. In the practical exam, unlike the previous training, we can't use Ninjutsu." Obito formed the hand seals, speaking.

"Then let's see whose youth can burn more fiercely." Guy also formed the hand seals according to the rules.

Watching the two individuals forming hand seals, Mutsuki speculated about the outcome of the competition.

In terms of strength, the two were closely matched. Although Obito's Taijutsu wasn't as strong as Guy's, Obito excelled in two Fire Release Ninjutsu, while Guy only knew Three Basic Jutsu in the realm of Ninjutsu.

However, Mutsuki felt that Guy had a slightly higher probability of winning.

Despite Guy appearing a bit foolish at times, he was remarkably calm during battles. On the other hand, Obito tended to be more erratic and was prone to distractions during combat.

So, even though the strength difference was minimal, Mutsuki favored Guy.

"Exams begin!" Shortly after the two completed the hand seals, the proctor sensei announced the start of the battle.

"Konoha Whirlwind!"

As soon as the proctor sensei's voice fell, Guy instantly charged forward, swiftly showing his expertise in Taijutsu with a kick aimed at Obito.

Obito, having experienced countless kicks from Guy in the past, was well-prepared. He instantly retreated to the side, evading the kick with ease.

Immediately after, Obito retreated while swiftly hurling several Shuriken towards Guy.

Guy vaguely sensed Obito's tactics, but Obito's Shuriken throwing skills were impressive, forcing Guy to evade towards the rear.

"Fire Release·Great Fireball Jutsu!" After creating distance, Obito wasted no time and immediately formed hand seals to unleash his specialty in Fire Release.

Huff, huff, huff!

Fierce flames continuously spewed from Obito's mouth, forming a colossal fireball, towering over the two of them. It rapidly hurtled towards Guy.

"Having a family of ninjas is great; even if you haven't graduated, you can learn such powerful Ninjutsu." Some students gazed at the tremendously frightening fireball, unable to conceal their envy.

He, too, was a fourth-grade student, currently only proficient in the Three Basic Jutsu taught at school.

"Ninjutsu isn't so easy to learn; even if I give you a Ninjutsu scroll, it doesn't guarantee you can master it," retorted the nearby student.

He didn't come from a ninja clan, but both of his parents were ninjas. Currently, he had only mastered the Three Basic Jutsu.

"This level of Fire Release is not something a student, or even a Genin, should have!" A Chunin sensei skilled in Fire Release Ninjutsu couldn't help but exclaim.

Even his own Fire Release Ninjutsu was only at this level.

"Yeah, I can only say that he's truly worthy of being a student from the Uchiha Clan," agreed another sensei.

The fireball continued to descend upon Guy, who swiftly evaded its edge by rapidly retreating to the side, about to escape the attack range of the Great Fireball.

Obito quickly threw several Shuriken to block Guy's movements because the Great Fireball couldn't change its course.

However, to Obito's surprise, Guy managed to block all the Shuriken he threw with a Kunai and successfully evacuated before the Great Fireball exploded.

"Fortunately, Obito's Shuriken throwing is a bit inferior to Shisui's, or else I might have been injured," Guy breathed heavily, feeling somewhat fortunate.

During the battle with Shisui, Shisui's Shuriken throws caused him considerable trouble.

Having experienced the pressure from Shisui, dealing with Obito now seemed just right.

"It's too difficult to hit someone with the Great Fireball; I should have used the Great Dragon Fire from the beginning." Obito regretted a bit.

In his heart, he also felt that the Great Dragon Fire would be better, but last time, he won first place in the Youth Ninjutsu Competition using the Great Fireball. Obito thought winning the grade's practical combat first place with the Great Fireball would be more meaningful.

But there was no time for Obito to reflect further. Guy had already taken advantage of this opportunity to explosively release chakra in his legs and charged forward.

"Konoha Whirlwind!"

Guy once again executed his most proficient kicking technique.

"Ah, Guy, your speed is not as fast as Kakashi's Body Flicker Jutsu." After dodging Guy's attack, Obito couldn't help but reveal a smug smile.

He felt that Guy's Taijutsu didn't seem to be as challenging to deal with.

Following that, Obito attempted Taijutsu combat against Guy.

Soon, Obito realized he had overestimated himself; he was inferior to Guy in strength and speed. Quickly, Obito found himself retreating step by step, relying on his excellent agility for evasion.

"Although Uchiha Obito's Fire Release is impressive, Guy's Taijutsu is also excellent. If this continues, Uchiha Obito will lose," a sensei observed Obito's weaknesses.

Without properly leveraging his strengths and challenging Guy in Taijutsu, winning seemed impossible.

Chitani Isamu smiled but didn't speak. After all, both of them were students in his class, and whoever won didn't matter much; the prize money wasn't going anywhere.

Watching the outcome unfold in the direction he had predicted, Mutsuki's inner emotions remained relatively calm.

In reality, it didn't matter much who won; both participants had training tasks assigned to them. Instead of being concerned about the victor, Mutsuki was more curious about the rewards he would receive later.

"Konoha Great Whirlwind!"

Guy delivered his most peak kick, surpassing any he had done before.

Guy's sudden burst of speed caught Obito off guard, and he couldn't evade the attack. He was sent flying several meters.

"The fourth-grade practical combat exam concludes, and the ultimate victor is Guy!" The proctor sensei declared the end of the end-of-term exam.

At the very moment the exam concluded, Mutsuki's system also relayed a message, signaling the settlement of the training task.
