Chereads / Cain's Rebirth / Chapter 5 - Silverblood Family

Chapter 5 - Silverblood Family

After Cain's fifth anniversary, the dreams started to become more lucid. He dreams about epic fights like he was the one fighting them. At the same time, he also starts to develop a hobby of fighting his dad, brother, sister, and even servants, and guards every time he can. One day he even challenged the guard captain, and the latter honored his challenge. Of course, Cain lost and even got a little brush on his cheek, but this only fueled the little fighter's spirit and love for fight. He aims to become strong, strong enough to defeat the guard's captain whom he respects now.

"Cain loves to fight, he has a warrior spirit, but he is also hot-blooded and stubborn I just hope this not gonna be a problem later, and he will not challenge and make' problems everywhere he goes…"

"At the end of the day, he is my son, and my dad's grandson, it is accepted that one of our children is like that."

"You're right, he is your dad, grandson," says Seraphina.

"He asked me to train him more, what do you think about it? He is also the age when he should choose his weapon."

"If the boy wants it, do it. Just don't break him. And make sure he can defend himself and his loved ones when the time asks for it. And for the weapon. Yeah, I guess it's time for it. Time goes on fast. He is already 5 years old, but something tells me that he is more mature than his years tell."

"Then should be it. I will take our son for his Trial of Silver and Blood. We will depart tomorrow morning and go east to the Chapel of Lady of Blood. I will leave to the manor and the children in your care my wife." He says manor but it was more like a mini fortress that the family Silverblood has as his headquarters.

"Take care, husband"

Nodding, Valerius goes to his son, and with a serious expression, he asks: "Do you want to train more? To become stronger? To be able to defend yourself and your loved ones? Okay, meet me tomorrow morning at the east gate of the manor. We gonna leave for the Chapel of the Lady of Blood where you are gonna take your trial of Silver and Blood, be prepared"

Cain looks at his father with curiosity and confusion and asks:" What is the Chapel of Lady and Blood? And what is the trial of Silver and Blood? Please tell me so I can be more prepared, Father"

"Well, you already know that we are a family of assassins and hunters. But let me tell you from what comes the name of our family first. The family Silverblood was founded by Gerald Silverblood, a renowned monster hunter, and assassin of demi-gods. He was a powerful individual, and worshiper of Goddes of Blood, Nyaris, who later blessed him. Unfortunately, these demi-gods were Atherton children with women. So after he founded the Silverblood family, created the trial of Silver and Blood, and had me… everything seemed perfect... Of course, this was not the case. These bastards from the church came after him. Prepared an ambush for him and killed him. I was too little at that time to do something.. but this will not happen again... I swear on my life."

"Back to the present. The Silverblood family name is formed by two words. Silver comes from our profession as assassins, and monster hunters, because monsters are weak to silver. And blood comes from our Lady of Blood, the Goddes Nyaris. Well, we are one of the few families left that worship her even after she was exiled and dammed as an Evil God. "

At that moment, Cain had a flashback about a monstrous entity with tentacles that spoke to him about a pact. But he is turned back to reality about his father's next words.

"The trial of Silver and Blood happens at the age of 5 for everyone from our family. During it, you gonna choose and create a connection with your soul-weapon. Well, this or you die during the process. "

Cain making some big eyes "I can die??? Then why are you taking me there? I should prepare more"

Valerius, with a more direct seriousness, says "Cain, you're my son, and my father's grandson. You're gonna be fine, I trust you" and he puts a reassuring hand on his son's shoulder.

Later that evening, under the soft glow of the moon, Cain found Lyra and Orion in their favorite spot in the garden. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, offering a gentle reprieve from the day's revelations.

Later that evening, under the soft glow of the moon, Cain found Lyra and Orion in their favorite spot in the garden. The air was filled with the sweet scent of blooming flowers, offering a gentle reprieve from the day's revelations.

"Cain, you look worried," Lyra observed, her blue eyes reflecting her concern for

her younger brother. Cain hesitated, then admitted, "Father told me about the Trial of Silver and Blood. He said I have to choose my soul weapon and... and that I could die during it." His voice was small, uncharacteristically laced with fear.

Orion put down the wooden sword he was holding and turned to face Cain. "I remember my trial," he said thoughtfully. "It's a big moment for us Silverbloods. But remember, it's not just about the danger; it's about discovering a part of yourself."

Lyra nodded in agreement. "Yes, and it's something that brings us closer to our heritage. I was scared too, but it helped me understand how strong I am. You're brave, Cain. Braver than you think."

Cain looked at his siblings, their words offering some comfort. "But what if I fail? What if I can't find my soul weapon?" The uncertainty in his eyes was a rare glimpse into his vulnerability.

"You won't fail," Orion said firmly. "You're a Silverblood. It's in your blood to face challenges head-on. Our trials were tough, but they made us who we are."

Lyra reached out and took Cain's hand. "We can't tell you everything about our trials – each person's experience is unique. But we're here for you, Cain. We'll help you prepare."

Cain felt a surge of gratitude for his siblings. Their support, their belief in him, ignited a spark of courage within. "I want to be strong, like you and Orion. I want to make our family proud."

"You already do," Orion said, ruffling Cain's hair. "Just being you, Cain, is enough. But this trial will teach you so much more about who you are."

As they continued talking under the starlit sky, Cain's initial fear gradually transformed into determination. He might be young, and the trial might be daunting, but with the support of his family, he felt ready to face whatever lay ahead.

As the three siblings sat together, the air charged with the gravity of the upcoming trial, Cain's curiosity found words. "Orion, Lyra, what exactly is a soul weapon?" he asked, his young voice tinged with both excitement and apprehension.

Orion exchanged a knowing glance with Lyra before turning back to Cain. "A soul weapon is more than just a tool for fighting," he started, his tone serious. "It's a part of you, a sentient being that's bound to your soul. It grows and evolves with you."

Lyra nodded, adding, "It's like a companion that's always with you, Cain. It understands you in a way that no one else can. It's alive in its way, and you can communicate with it in your mind."

Cain's eyes widened in wonder. "It can talk to me? In my mind?"

"Yes," Lyra smiled softly. "Each soul weapon is unique, chosen during the Trial of Silver and Blood. It reflects who you are, your strengths, and even your weaknesses."

"But how do I choose it? Or does it choose me?" Cain's brow furrowed in confusion.

"That," Orion said, standing up, "is something you'll learn tomorrow from Father. He's the best person to guide you through this. Our experiences were our own, but yours will be different, special in its way."

Cain nodded, a mix of nervousness and anticipation bubbling inside him. The idea of a sentient weapon, a constant companion that would grow with him, was both thrilling and daunting.

"Remember, Cain, no matter what happens in the trial, you're not alone," Orion said, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder. "Your soul weapon will be a part of you, a bond that will only strengthen over time."

As the night drew to a close, Cain lay in his bed, his mind buzzing with thoughts of the mysterious soul weapon. He imagined a weapon that could speak to him, understand him, and evolve alongside him. It was a thrilling prospect, and despite his apprehensions, he found himself eager to face the trial, to meet this unique companion that awaited him.

That night, as Cain lay in bed, the words of his brother and sister echoed in his mind. He realized that the trial was not just a test of strength, but a rite of passage, a step towards understanding his place in the legacy of the Silverblood family.
