Chereads / Unravel Aries / Chapter 7 - THE ESCAPE

Chapter 7 - THE ESCAPE

Aries tossed and turned on his bed, the discomfort evident on his face as the relentless sound of the helicopter pierced through the air. With a frustrated sigh, he reached for his ear, attempting to block out the noise to no avail. "It's already too loud," he muttered under his breath, his agitation mounting with each passing second.

Unable to endure it any longer, Aries swung his legs over the edge of the bed and strode over to the window, drawn by both curiosity and a desperate hope for respite. As he peered out, his heart sank at the sight of the helicopter looming ominously in the night sky, its rotating blades now still after what felt like an eternity of cacophony.

The helicopter had landed in the front yard, its metallic frame glistening faintly in the moonlight. Its presence outside Aries' window felt intrusive, an unwelcome intrusion into his already unsettled state of mind. With a heavy sigh, he realized that whatever awaited him outside would likely only add to the turmoil he was already experiencing

As Aries peered through the window, a flicker of recognition crossed his mind at the sight of the figure standing below. "I have seen this person before, mmmm," he mused, his thoughts racing as he struggled to place the familiar face. Suddenly, it clicked. "Ohh," he exclaimed softly, the memory flooding back to him like a wave crashing against the shore.

He was the same person he had read about in the magazine. It was the famous revealer Jack, his presence confirmed by the unmistakable silhouette of a black hat perched atop his head and a long, sleek suit that hugged his frame.

Aries was filled with questions, wondering why such an important person like revealer Jack would show up at his house so late. He felt a mix of curiosity and nervousness as he tried to figure out why Jack was there, feeling uneasy as he waited for answers.

Aries, feeling excited, hurried to his parents' room , his tiny fists pounding urgently on the door. Monica, still groggy from sleep, rubbed her eyes and yawned as she greeted her son. "Aries, what is it?" she murmured, her voice laden with drowsiness.

"Mum, there's a man here who flew in on a helicopter into the yard, and I think it's revealer Jack!" Aries blurted out in a flurry of excitement, his words tumbling out in his high-pitched, rapid delivery. Eric struggling to fully grasp the situation, attempted to piece together his son's fragmented explanation. "Wait, Aries, slow down. You mean revealer Jack is here?" he questioned, his brow furrowing in concern.

Aries nodded vigorously. "Yes, Dad!"

Realizing the urgency of the situation, Eric wasted no time in instructing Monica to gather their belongings. With no time to spare for further questions, he knew they had to leave immediately.

Confusion clouded Aries' mind as he watched his parents hastily prepare to depart. "Wait, Dad, where are we going?" he implored, his young voice tinged with uncertainty.

In the midst of the chaos, Eric urgently called out to Monica, delegating the task of escorting Aries. "Monica, please, take Aries with you," he instructed, his tone brimming with urgency.

Before they could fully comprehend the unfolding events, a sharp knock echoed through the door, signaling the arrival of their unexpected visitor.

As Eric opened the door, he could feel the man's presence even before he saw him. He was tall, and his body seemed to radiate an air of confidence and power. The hat he wore was dark and covered his eyes, but Eric could sense that they were sharp and piercing. He held himself with a quiet authority that commanded respect.

"Revealer Jack," Eric said, his voice barely above a whisper.

"Hello, Eric," came the man's smooth, low voice in response. With measured steps, he advanced into the room, the soft creak of his boots on the hardwood floor adding to the tension in the air. "I'm afraid I need to take your son."

Eric's skepticism surfaced in a scoff. "And why do you need to take Aries?" he challenged, his tone tinged with defiance.

Revealer Jack's gaze met Eric's, his expression inscrutable. "It's not a request, it's a demand," he asserted, his voice unwavering. "I need Aries for my mission, and I won't leave without him." His declaration hung heavy in the air, leaving no room for negotiation.

Eric's chuckle was laced with incredulity. "For a matter of fact, he's no property that you can just demand," he retorted, his voice edged with defiance. "I'll pretend I didn't hear that from you. Have a nice day, revealer Jack," he added with a forced smile, masking his unease with a veneer of politeness.

As Eric urged Revealer Jack to step outside, the tension in the room was palpable. Jack's expression turned dark, a silent threat evident in his eyes. He moved toward the door, his hand reaching for the handle, but just as he was about to close it, Eric's senses heightened. Danger was in the air.

In a swift and calculated move, he made a subtle hand gesture, and three of his burly men appeared from the shadows. They stood like statues carved from stone, their faces devoid of emotion, their massive arms crossed over their chests. Eric's heart pounded as he realized he was trapped, with the imposing figures between him and the door. It was a trap, and he had walked right into it.

The sudden appearance of Jack's reinforcements caught Eric off guard, but his training as a white belt in karate kicked in, his muscles tensing as he prepared for the impending confrontation. With a deep breath, he centered himself, his mind clearing as he assessed the situation before him.

Jack's men stood in a triangle formation, their arms outstretched, their bodies coiled like springs ready to be released. They moved like silent predators, their eyes locked on Eric, who stood firm, his gaze steady and unblinking. He knew that he was outnumbered, but he refused to let fear take hold, his focus narrowed to a single point.

The first man luged towards Eric , and Eric responded with a swift kick , catching the man in the side and knocking him to the ground. But before Eric could regain his balance, the second man was on him, his fist connecting with Eric's jaw. Eric stumbled back, his vision blurred from the impact. But before the second man could strike again, Eric brought his arm up to block the blow and countered with a punch of his own. The man grunted in pain.

As Eric fought off the attackers, the chaotic scene unfolded in his living room. Furniture toppled over, glass shattered, and the once tidy space was now a battlefield strewn with debris. With each blow exchanged, a lamp crashed to the ground, a vase shattered, and the sofa cushions were torn apart.

As the chaos of the fight unfolded, the figure with the hat who had been observing the fight in silence, his back against the wall, suddenly straightened up, with a commanding gesture, he beckoned one of the assailants to his side. The dim light in the room cast shadows on his face, giving him a menacing look. He didn't speak, but his silent command was clear, and the henchman obeyed with a reluctant shiver. It was as if his words were unnecessary

As the henchman strode away from the cozy sitting room into the dimly lit passage, his figure cast long shadows against the stone walls. Eric, his heart pounding with urgency, felt the weight of responsibility settling upon him. With each echoing footstep of the hetchman, Eric knew he had to act swiftly to protect his son from whatever fate awaited him.

In the midst of his fierce struggle with the two other hetchmen, Eric's eyes caught sight of a fire extinguisher mounted on the wall nearby. The fire extinguisher stood out like a beacon of hope against the grim, stone walls. Its vibrant red casing was a stark contrast to the drab surroundings, and its handle felt solid and reassuring in Eric's grip. It was a silent ally, waiting to be called upon in a moment of need.

He took it , pressed the trigger, a steady stream of foam poured from the nozzle, filling the air with a pungent, chemical smell. The white foam engulfed the two henchmen, their shocked shouts drowned out by the deafening sound of the extinguisher. The foam clung to their clothes, seeping into their skin and hair, weighing them down and making them sluggish. They struggled to move, their limbs heavy and unresponsive.

Eric swiftly made his way into the passage, intent on locating the hiding place of his son and wife.
